Three Lady Vols earn All-SEC soccer honors in 2023.

Three Tennessee soccer players received All-SEC honors Sunday when the league office announced the coaches’ postseason teams.

Junior midfielder Jordan Fusco received first-team honors. Graduate transfer Sizzy Lawton, who plays midfielder and forward for the Lady Vols, received second team honors, while forward Kate Runyon was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Fusco, a member of the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2021, totaled six goals and four assists and led Tennessee in points (16) during the regular-season.

Lawton, a transfer from Penn, recorded six goals and two assists, while appearing in every match for the Lady Vols. She ranked third on the team with 14 points.

In her first collegiate season, Runyon, a forward, totaled six goals and two assists, appearing in 14 games and making five starts before missing time due to injury.

Texas A&M (8-6-3, 4-3-2 SEC) defeated Tennessee (7-5-4, 2-4-3 SEC), 4-3, Sunday at Regal Soccer Stadium.

Jordan Fusco recorded at a hat trick against the Aggies.

Tennessee led, 1-0, after Fusco scored in fifth minute. Macaira Midgley was credited with an assist on the first goal of the match.

Texas A&M scored the next two goals. Jazmine Wilkinson scored an unassisted goal in the ninth minute to tie the game, 1-1. Sydney Becerra gave Texas A&M a lead in the 14th minute off an assist from Mia Pante.

The Lady Vols tied the game after halftime. Fusco scored in the 46th minute and was assisted by Maria Nelson.

Fusco gave the Lady Vols a 3-2 lead after scoring in the 48th minute.

Wilkinson, who had a hat trick for the Aggies, tied the match, 3-3, in the 77th minute. She scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute.

Lady Vols record second consecutive conference tie

Lady Vols record second consecutive conference tie at Mississippi State.

Tennessee (6-2-3, 1-1-2 SEC) and Mississippi State (6-3-3, 1-2-1 SEC) played to a 3-3 tie Friday at MSU Soccer Field in Starkville, Mississippi.

Friday’s contest is the second consecutive Southeastern Conference tie for the Lady Vols. Tennessee tied South Carolina, 1-1, on Sunday.

Tennessee tied Mississippi State after trailing, 3-0.

Mississippi State led, 1-0, in the 29th minute after Hannah Johnson scored her third goal of the season. Ally Perry scored for Mississippi State in the 43rd minute.

Johnson scored her second goal in the 54th minute.

Sizzy Lawton scored an unassisted goal for Tennessee in the 73rd minute. Tennessee scored again in the 78th minute (Jordan Fusco).

The Lady Vols scored for a final time after own goal by Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs outshot Tennessee, 23-14.

Tennessee (5-1-1, 0-0 SEC) defeated Florida Atlantic (3-3-2, 0-0, AAC), 2-0, Sunday at FAU Soccer Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida.

The Lady Vols scored two goals during the first half.

Tennessee led, 1-0, after Nolyn Bartholomew scored in the 22nd minute. Ally Brown was credited with an assist.

Tennessee extended its advantage to 2-0 after Jordan Fusco’s second goal of the season during the 29th minute. Kameron Simmonds recorded an assist on Fusco’s goal.

“It was great to pick up a road win as we wrap up the non-conference portion of our season,” Tennessee head coach Joe Kirt said. “Our team’s commitment to defending has been impressive to start the year, and we must continue to take pride in our pressing and counter-pressing entering league play.

“In possession, our players have been tremendous and continue to gain poise and confidence on the ball each time out. Through that confidence, we have been dominant in creating chances and scoring goals. Overall, we have been very pleased with our team’s approach, energy and physicality each time we have stepped on the field.”

Tennessee will open SEC play on Friday versus Arkansas (7 p.m. EDT) at Regal Soccer Stadium.

Five Lady Vols named to 2023 SEC preseason watch list.

Five Tennessee student-athletes have been named to the 2023 Southeastern Conference soccer preseason watch list.

Jaida Thomas, Lawson Renie, Sheridan Michel, Jordan Fusco and Kameron Simmonds preseason honors for the Lady Vols.

Thomas is a three-time All-SEC performer and earned All-America honors in  2021.

Renie led Tennessee in minutes played over the last two seasons.

Michel joins the Lady Vols in 2023 after playing two seasons at Oklahoma, She earned All-Big 12 honors as a sophomore.

Fusco is a two-year returning starter for Tennessee in 2023.

Simmonds represented Jamaica in the Cup of Nations and was on the country’s 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup roster.

Tennessee will kick off its 2023 season Thursday versus California at Regal Soccer Stadium (7 p.m. EDT).

Tennessee soccer player Jordan Fusco named SEC Freshman of the Week.

Tennessee’s Jordan Fusco has been named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week.

Fusco scored two goals last week as the Lady Vols won their first two matches of the 2021 season.

The Olmsted, Ohio native scored Tennessee’s third goal of its season opener, a 6-0 victory over Florida Gulf Coast.

She scored the first goal of Tennessee’s 2-0 victory over Miami (Ohio) on Sunday at Regal Soccer Stadium.

The Lady Vols (2-0) will return to action Thursday, playing at Tennessee Tech. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. EDT.

Tennessee’s next home match is Aug. 29. The Lady Vols will host Louisiana. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. EDT.
