The Atlanta Falcons are tweaking their 16-man practice squad for the third consecutive day, signing cornerback Tyler Hall on Friday morning and releasing DE Austin Edwards to make room. Both players signed with the Falcons as undrafted free agents following the draft.

Hall, a standout from Wyoming, has drawn praise from the Falcons coaching staff, and it’s not surprising to see him return to the team.

As for Edwards, who comes from little Ferris State college in Michigan, he lasted longer than many other highly-regarded prospects, and some draft picks. Don’t be surprised to see him return to Atlanta at some point.

The Falcons announced their four protected practice squad players this week, keeping QB Kurt Benkert, LB Edmond Robinson, P Cameron Nizialek and WR Chris Rowland.

Lauletta was a fourth-round pick in the 2018 draft, while both Hall and Moa were undrafted free agents. Hall signed with Atlanta shortly after the draft and Moa signed last week.

This leaves three practice squad spots available for the team to add another offensive lineman and potentially a cornerback. Keep track of each move with our Falcons practice squad tracker.

Falcons sign OL John Wetzel to one-year deal

The Falcons signed veteran offensive lineman John Wetzel to a one-year contract on Wednesday.

The Falcons signed veteran offensive lineman John Wetzel to a one-year contract on Wednesday:

Wetzel served as a reserve for Atlanta in 2019, appearing in two games and has played both guard and tackle spots. At just 28 years old, he’s a good insurance policy that has the versatility to back up multiple positions.

As ESPN’s Vaughn McClure points out below, though, the Falcons have been signing and releasing Wetzel like it’s going out of style:

Wetzel’s transaction history shows the reality of how tough it is to make it in the NFL when you’re not a early-round pick.
