The Chargers snapped their losing streak, defeating the Jets by the score of 34-28.

Here is my instant analysis of Los Angeles’ Week 11 victory:

Injury Report

Edge defender Uchenna Nwosu sustained a shoulder injury and he did not return to the game. Cornerback Casey Hayward suffered a groin injury late in the game. The severity of their injuries is unknown.

Play of the Game: Justin Herbert’s third touchdown pass

Like I’ve said in previous weeks, this has become a section for Herbert’s best throw of the game, it appears. In this case, it was when he connected with wide receiver Keenan Allen for his third touchdown pass of the game. Talk about a dart.

Notable Number

16: Wide receiver Keenan Allen set a new single-game career-high with 16 receptions.

Quick Takes

Quarterback Justin Herbert took advantage of a depleted secondary, finishing with 366 yards and three touchdowns on 37-of-49 passing. Herbert distributed the wealth to eight different targets, but his go-to was wide receiver Keenan Allen, who had 16 receptions for 145 yards and a touchdown.

After having success on the ground the past few weeks, the Chargers only had 61 yards on 22 carries (2.8 yards per carry). The offensive line is to blame, as the unit failed to generate push upfront. Running back Kalen Ballage finished with 44 yards on 16 carries.

On the other side of the ball, it was a mixed bag of results. While there were a few stops at the line of scrimmage, the Chargers allowed too many big gains on the ground. The Jets finished with an average of four yards per carry and two touchdowns.

Among those who had some eye-popping plays was linebacker Denzel Perryman. Perryman contributed to the pass and run. He will be a free agent after this season, but he’s shown that he is worthy of another contract.

Cornerback Tevaughn Campbell also had a game to show his worth. Campbell had an interception which he returned for a touchdown in the first quarter, as well as the game-ensuing pass deflection.

A player who struggled was cornerback Casey Hayward. Hayward was heavily targeted, where he allowed a few big receptions, including one of quarterback Joe Flacco’s touchdowns.

Even with edge defender Joey Bosa back in the starting lineup, the pass rush still struggled to generate pressure. The Chargers only managed one sack, which happened to be by Bosa. He also notched five quarterback hits.

Playing a disciplined brand of football was crucial and despite the win, they kept it way too close against an inferior opponent. There were too many costly penalties, play calls that were questionable, and special team woes.

Up Next

The Chargers are on the road to take on the Bills next Sunday, Nov. 29 at 10:00 a.m. PT.

Jets vs. Chargers game recap: Everything we know

The Jets started strong against the Chargers, but things went downhill quickly.

The Jets came out gunning against the Chargers, making multiple plays behind the line of scrimmage and blocking a punt on their first defensive stand Sunday. That led to a quick touchdown and an early advantage for New York, but things went downhill from there.

Sam Ficken proceeded to miss the PAT, the first sign that things could get Jetsy rather quickly. Joe Flacco lobbed a pick-six shortly thereafter, and just like that, the lead was erased.

With Justin Herbert, confident and strong-armed, orchestrating the offense, Los Angeles never looked back and cruised to a 34-28 win, it’s third of the season. The Jets hung around late, but fell to 0-10 on the season.

Watch: A Jets’ Highlight! Joe Flacco throws 49-yard TD pass

Joe Flacco provided a rare highlight for the Jets, connecting with Breshad Perriman

It was the Good Ol’ Days for one play as Joe Flacco found Breshad Perriman with a beautiful pass on a “go” route for a 49-yard touchdown as the New York Jets visited the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

The Jets had four touchdowns in their first eight games — all losses — and Flacco, the Super Bowl MVP with the Ravens, has four in the last two with the throw against the Bolts.

First Half Highlights: Chargers vs. Jets

The Los Angeles Chargers are dominating the New York Jets.

The Chargers lead the Jets by the score of 24-6 at the halfway mark.

Quarterback Justin Herbert is cooking. Herbert has 277 yards and two touchdowns on 23-of-31 passing. The rookie has connected with his favorite target, wide receiver Keenan Allen, 10 times for 108 yards.

Herbert’s two touchdown passes went to wide receiver Mike Williams and tight end Hunter Henry.

There’s always at least one beautiful ball by Herbert in each game. That one went to wide receiver Tyron Johnson down the middle of the field for 54 yards.

The defense has limited New York to only 82 yards, which has been led by the performances of linebacker Denzel Perryman, who has a sack and a handful of run stops and cornerback Tevaughn Campbell, who has a interception .

Watch: Jets’ Joe Flacco throws pick-six on first pass attempt

Joe Flacco threw an interception to Tevaughn Campbell and it turned into a pick-six.

The New York Jets recovered a fumble deep in their territory by the Los Angeles Chargers’ Keenan Allen in the first quarter on Sunday.

Momentum for the winless wanderers, who already up 6-0. Game-changer.

It lasted less than a minute as Joe Flacco threw his first pass and it found Tevaughn Campbell. Unfortunately, he plays for the Bolts and Campbell sauntered into the end zone. The 6-yard return that became a pick-6 had Los Angeles up 7-6 after the PAT.

Jets vs. Chargers inactives: Sam Ficken returns against Los Angeles

Jets vs. Chargers inactives.

Sam Ficken will be back kicking field goals for the Jets when they take on the Chargers on Sunday afternoon.

Ficken is active after missing New York’s last three games with a groin injury. Sergio Castillo, who filled in admirably for Ficken, is inactive against Los Angeles. The Jets also welcome back Frankie Luvu from injured reserve in Week 11. Luvu injured his groin against the Dolphins in Week 6 and returned to practice on Nov. 18.

There are no surprises on the Jets’ inactives list against the Chargers, as Blake Cashman, Cameron Clark and Sam Darnold were all ruled out earlier in the week. James Morgan is a healthy inactive, as New York signed Mike White to its active roster to serve as Joe Flacco’s backup with Darnold on the shelf.

As for the Chargers, they welcome back Joey Bosa, who missed their last two games with a concussion, against the Jets.

Jets vs. Chargers: 4 predictions for New York’s Week 11 matchup

Four predictions for New York’s Week 11 showdown with Los Angeles.

Is Week 11 going to be the week the Jets break into the win column?

New York’s Sunday afternoon matchup with the Chargers is its best chance to notch a victory in 2020. Don’t be fooled by Los Angeles’ 2-7 record, though. The Chargers have been competitive on a weekly basis this season — a concept the Jets have yet to master.

So, what could be in store for New York against Los Angeles? Here are four predictions for Week 11.

Keys to a Chargers’ victory over Jets in Week 11

Chargers Wire’s Gavino Borquez lays out how Los Angeles can get back to their winning ways when they face New York on Sunday.

The Chargers are set to host the Jets, desperately trying to pick up a win after dropping their third straight. There are a few things that Los Angeles will need to do in order to a secure a victory.

The Jets pass defense is among the league’s worst. They’re allowing 281.8 yards per game, making it a favorable matchup for quarterback Justin Herbert. New York fares a little bit better against the run, but they have been susceptible to missed tackles, ranking worst in the NFL with 91. Running back Kalen Ballage could exploit that with his physical style of running to take some pressure off the passing game to create all of the energy.

Defensively, Los Angeles needs to start strong and finish strong. The Bolts have had no issue of slowing opposing offenses, but it’s exclusively been in the first half. If L.A. can avoid missed tackles, busted coverages and blown assignments, along with forcing QB Joe Flacco into a couple of turnovers, it could be a long day for the Jets offense, which ranks dead last in points per game.

Staying disciplined on special teams is just as important as winning on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The Chargers have been woeful on special teams, where they rank last in the league. Los Angeles will have to avoid unnecessary penalties, keep punt protection intact and rally to the football to avoid the Jets starting at a favorable field position off of returns.

3 key things to know about Chargers’ Week 11 opponent, Jets

Chargers Wire’s Gavino Borquez breaks down Los Angeles’ Week 11 opponent.

The Chargers are looking to show some life after suffering their seventh loss, as they’re set to go to battle against the Jets this Sunday.

Here are three things to know about Los Angeles’ Week 11 opponent:

Joe Flacco named the starting quarterback

The Jets have a controversy on their hands, as they have failed to establish consistency with the quarterback position. Sam Darnold entered the season as the starter, but he’s been hindered by a shoulder injury, forcing him to sit out for the fourth time in six games in favor of Flacco. In four games, Flacco has completed 56.7% of his passes for 659 yards, four touchdowns and two touchdowns. He is 0-3 as the starter, but he almost led New York to their first win over the Patriots in Week 9, falling just short, 30-27.

Offense is not good, but it has made strides

The Jets are dead last in points per game with a measly 13.4. Based on that stat alone, there’s no denying that the team has struggled immensely, which factors into the inconsistency and the quarterback position and the lack of talent/chemistry. But health is another thing, and it just so happens that New York has started to obtain it, including their starting wide receivers, Denzel Mims and Breshad Perriman. With them on the field, in combination of efficient pass protection, the Jets mustered 319 yards of offense in the first three quarters of their game against New England.

Defensive deficiencies

The Jets not only have holes on the offensive side of the ball. They lie on defense, as well. After finishing as one of the better units a season ago, they’ve taken a major step back in 2020. New York’s defense ranks 28th in yards allowed (402.7) and 30th in points allowed (29.8). The defense consists of youth and veterans who have struggled this season. It also didn’t help that they got rid of star safety Jamal Adams. This could be the perfect week for the Chargers to produce their most productive offensive outing.

Healthy offense, standout rookies among 4 takeaways from Jets’ Week 9 loss to Patriots

The Jets couldn’t pull off the win, but the offense proved it can play.

The final score looked bad and their record looks worse, but there was a lot to learn from the Jets this week.

New York’s offense put up its best performance of the season behind Joe Flacco, who totaled 262 yards, three touchdowns and one costly interception. It wasn’t enough, but it proved that a healthy Jets offense – besides its quarterback – can look like a competent football team. The Jets struggled, though, and that ultimately aided New York’s inevitable crumble when it mattered most at the end of the game. But that’s what happens with a winless franchise guided by rudderless coaches.

Here’s a look at some good and some bad to take away from the Jets’ Week 9 loss to the Patriots.
