UFC on ESPN 46 Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay: Marvin Vettori’s $16,000 tops card

UFC on ESPN 46 fighters took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay, a program that continued after the UFC’s deal with Venum.

LAS VEGAS – Fighters from Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 46 event took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay totaling $140,000.

The program, a comprehensive plan that includes outfitting requirements, media obligations and other items under the fighter code of conduct, replaces the previous payments made under the UFC Athlete Outfitting Policy.

UFC on ESPN 46 took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card aired on ESPN and streamed on ESPN+.

Under the UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance program’s payout tiers, which appropriate the money generated by Venum’s multi-year sponsorship with the UFC, fighters are paid based on their total number of UFC bouts, as well as Zuffa-era WEC fights (January 2007 and later) and Zuffa-era Strikeforce bouts (April 2011 and later). Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $4,000 per appearance; 4-5 bouts get $4,500; 6-10 bouts get $6,000; 11-15 bouts earn $11,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $16,000; and 21 bouts and more get $21,000. Additionally, champions earn $46,000 while title challengers get $46,000.

In addition to experience-based pay, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-46 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.

Alessandro Costa destroyed the leg of Jimmy Flick with kicks before finishing the job at UFC on ESPN 46.

[autotag]Alessandro Costa[/autotag] executed the perfect game plan against [autotag]Jimmy Flick[/autotag] on Saturday at UFC on ESPN 46.

After ruthlessly attacking the leg of Flick (16-7 MMA, 1-2 UFC) with kicks over the first round, Costa (13-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) took advantage of a sloppy takedown from his compromised opponent in the second before finishing the job with elbows and punches on the ground for the TKO stoppage at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

After the fight, an elated Costa said he hopes to continue to make his mark in the octagon after getting his first promotional win.

“I’m an athlete from the UFC, whatever they tell me, I fight,” Costa told Paul Felder through an interpreter in his post-fight interview. “I heard the UFC is going to be Brazil. … It would be an honor to fight in the UFC again if I can.”

UFC books Francisco Figueiredo vs. Jimmy Flick for May 8 event

After wins in their UFC debuts, Francisco Figueiredo and Jimmy Flick will fight May 8.

[autotag]Francisco Figueiredo[/autotag] has his second UFC opponent and date locked.

The brother of UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo, Francisco Figueiredo (12-3-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will make his sophomore promotional appearance May 8 when he takes on [autotag]Jimmy Flick[/autotag]. The flyweight bout will be part of a UFC Fight Night event that does not currently have a location or venue.

A person with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie after Flick announced the news on The Corner & The Casual Podcast. The person asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Both fighters are coming off successful UFC debuts. On Dec. 19, Flick (16-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) pulled off a highlight-reel submission when he nailed a flying triangle vs. Cody Durden in the opening four minutes of their fight. A little over one month later on Jan. 23, Figueiredo defeated former Dana White’s Contender Series competitor Jerome Rivera with a unanimous decision.

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night lineup for May 8 includes:

UFC Fight Night 183 bonuses: Four fighters earn ‘Performance of the Night’

Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson led the parade of “Performance of the Night” winners.

The final UFC event of 2020 is in the books, and with it comes the final round of post-fight bonus winners.

UFC Fight Night 183 went down Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. As usual, the main suspense was whether the company would opt to give out $50,000 bonuses for a “Fight of the Night” and two “Performance of the Night” winners, or whether to go with four “POTN” awards.

This time, the UFC went with the latter. [autotag]Stephen Thompson[/autotag], [autotag]Marcin Tybura[/autotag], [autotag]Rob Font[/autotag], and [autotag]Jimmy Flick[/autotag] all earned the honor.

UFC Fight Night 183 video: Jimmy Flick turns head kick into flying triangle in blink of an eye

Today’s lesson: Don’t blink when Jimmy Flick fights, or you might miss something.

The men’s flyweight division has been on an exciting run in recent weeks, and the UFC Fight Night 183 prelims have demonstrated it shows no signs of abating.

Tulsa’s [autotag]Jimmy Flick[/autotag] made his UFC debut Saturday in the second fight at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. And frankly, it wasn’t going so great at the start when opponent Cody Durden was having his way in the standup game.

Flick (16-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) threw a head kick. Durden (11-3-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) caught it. And before anyone knew what happened, Flick threw his right leg up, pulled guard, and had Durden caught in a triangle choke by the time they hit the mat. Durden tried to escape, but was trapped, and tapped out at the 3:18 mark of the opening round.

That’s a heck of a UFC start for Flick, and one that could very well net him a $50,000 post-fight bonus. It’s his fourth consecutive victory and his 14th career submission win.

“That’s what I do, man,” Flick said during his postfight interview. “I finish fights – I’m exciting. He came out aggressive, I stayed calm – that’s what I do.”
