WATCH: Bills’ HOF quarterback Jim Kelly ranks ’90s QBs

Buffalo Bills legend and Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly joined the ‘Centered on Buffalo’ podcast recently to discuss quarterbacks in the 1990s.

Former Bills Pro Bowl center Eric Wood, the podcast host, asked Kelly to rank four ’90s QBs in order: Dan Marino, Warren Moon, Steve Young, and John Elway.

It’s difficult to answer, but who better to pose the question to than Kelly? We’re talking about the conductor of the “K-Gun” no-huddle offense which led the Bills to four straight Super Bowl appearances in the early ’90s.

Kelly knows these quarterbacks well, especially Marino. Kelly’s Bills went head-to-head with Marino’s Miami Dolphins in 18 regular-season games and three playoff games.

Throwback uniforms are all the rage in the NFL.

The Buffalo Bills have been part of the trend, occasionally wearing their white jersey with the famous “standing Buffalo” helmet.

Some in western New York want another, though. During the 1990s, when Hall of Famer Jim Kelly was Buffalo’s quarterback, the team famously wore their uniforms with red helmets.

Kelly is perfectly on board with getting those back in the fold, as he discussed on the “Center on Buffalo” podcast with Eric Wood.

“Without a doubt,” Kelly said.

Even Jim Kelly admits he didn’t want much work in preseason

Even Jim Kelly admits he didn’t want much work in preseason:

The Buffalo Bills are fresh off a loss to the Carolina Panthers in the preseason.

Naturally, that comes with a huge asterisk. Buffalo did not play their starting lineup in the 31-26 loss, opting to take a “stay healthy” approach.

That’s nothing new in the NFL.

While current Bills quarterback Josh Allen has said he’ll play in the preseason, Hall of Famer Jim Kelly admitted he was not too keen on doing so back in his day. He didn’t think he needed all that work… and his resume speaks for itself.

“Not much,” Kelly said.

Kelly discussed his thoughts on the “Centered on Buffalo” podcast with Eric Wood which can be found in the clip below:

Jim Kelly hosts 36th year of his football camp (video):

Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly returned to Orchard Park and hosted another year of the his football camp.

The event, entering it’s 36th year, kicked off this week. As usual, it looks like the kids are having a great time despite never seeing the Pro Football Hall of Famer play for their favorite team.

Cameras were at the camp on Wednesday and it was inside the team’s practice facility in Orchard Park. In years past, the group has gotten an opportunity to go over to the actual field at Highmark Stadium as well.

A clip of Kelly’s camp can be found in the WIVB-TV clip below:

Jim Kelly stopped by #Bills minicamp practice:

There was a Hall of Fame presence at Buffalo Bills minicamp this week.

Former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly stopped by Orchard Park on Wednesday, the second of three minicamp practices the team had over the past few days. As usual, Kelly was chatting it up with current Bills QB Josh Allen and the rest of the gang.

Kelly posed for one of his iconic thumbs up photos which can be found below:

Cincinnati Bearcats Color Analyst Jim Kelly breaks down the Week 4 matchup

The Sooners take on the Cincinnati Bearcats and Color Analyst Jim Kelly lets us know what to expect.

The Oklahoma Sooners open [autotag]Big 12[/autotag] play against the [autotag]Cincinnati Bearcats[/autotag] in their first true road game of the season. The Bearcats come in with one of the best defensive lines in all of college football.

They also come in with the No. 8 rushing attack and the No. 12 overall offense. Many people will look at last week’s loss to the Miami (OH) Redhawks, but in that game, Cincinnati beat themselves. In the Bearcats seven trips to the red zone, they only scored two touchdowns and a pair of field goals.

Color Analyst for the Bearcats, [autotag]Jim Kelly[/autotag], talked with me on my podcast, Eat. Sleep. Bedlam. He said the offense was the unit hurt the most when former Head Coach Luke Fickell left.

“Most of that affected the offense,” Kelly said. “That’s the side of the ball that we thought, we don’t really know what to expect. The defensive side, a lot of folks stayed.”

Two of the guys Sooner fans better get to know are [autotag]Dontay Corleone[/autotag] and [autotag]Jowon Briggs[/autotag]. Those two both play along the defensive line and most likely will be playing on Sundays in the future.

New Head Coach [autotag]Scott Satterfield[/autotag], who was the head coach for the Louisville Cardinals a year ago, brings over an entirely new scheme. Kelly said they are a staff that usually likes to bring pressure.

“They like to blitz a lot, although they’ve played it more straight this year,” Kelly said. “Brian Brown is the defensive coordinator. He came from Louisville with coach Satterfield. They led the nation last year in sacks. So he plays a really aggressive style. However, I don’t think he feels like he has the corners, particularly against a team like Oklahoma and what [autotag]Dillon Gabriel[/autotag] was able to do last week.”

There’s no question the Sooners are going to have to attack this secondary. The running game will probably have to be more outside runs, and offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby may opt for short, quick passes to supplement the running game.

Offensively they have to stop the run. Make [autotag]Emory Jones[/autotag] beat you with his arm. They have three really good running backs to go along with Jones running the ball.

If the Sooners are able to do that, we could be looking at another rout. I don’t expect that. I expect this one to be closer than many people think.

LeSean McCoy gives some candid thoughts on Bills legend Jim Kelly (video)

Welp… we tried to look at both sides here…

Well now…

Former Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy might have put his stock with Bills Mafia in a little bit of jeopardy.

Hall of Famer and legendary Bills quarterback Jim Kelly recently dished some thoughts on the current state of the team. He said that current QB, Josh Allen, “can’t do it all himself.”

During a discussion on “Up & Adams” on Fan Duel TV, McCoy did the same. His thought initially began in a very interesting manner.

McCoy commented that Kelly “just likes to talk.” Fair enough, a lot of former players for teams that are beloved do talking.

Plus, Kelly was actually interviewed when he made his statement, so a reporter asked him a question, likely about the current team, leading to the statement.

Then “Shady” went a bit off the rails.

The topic McCoy was speaking on was based on the Bills offense, which is why Kelly was mentioned.

Instead of going back on topic, McCoy then decided to note how Kelly lost four Super Bowls with the Bills… ouch.

Playing devil’s advocate for both: McCoy has former teammates still on the team–not only that, McCoy played with running backs that previously started for the the Bills such as Devin Singletary and Frank Gore.

Maybe he was just trying to stand up for his guys a bit?

In the same light, Kelly naturally would respect the heck out of the work fellow Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas did when they were with the Bills. Thomas was his longtime running back and the two are still close friends which fans often see at Bills home game.

That’s probably what Kelly was leaning into.

Regardless, make your own decision. Here’s the clip you’ve come for:

Jim Kelly: Josh Allen ‘can’t do everything by himself’ (video)

Jim Kelly’s latest thoughts on the #Bills:

Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly knows how Josh Allen feels. The weight of the world–or western New York–on your shoulders as a talented quarterback.

But even the Hall of Fame QB can admit Allen needs help.

At a recent charity event, Kelly gave his quick thoughts on the Bills and Allen. In his mind, Allen needs help.

“Josh can’t do everything by himself,” Kelly said.

Specifically, Kelly believes the offense needs to build a better rushing attack to complement Allen.

Jim Kelly features in top-rated NFL commercial during Super Bowl 57

Did you see Jim Kelly during the #SuperBowl?

The NFL often uses the numerous stars attached to the game of football to represent the league when they run a commercial during the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl 57, which saw the Chiefs defeat the Eagles 38-35, had another one of those.

This time, it also featured a little Bills Mafia flavor to it as well, with none other than being Jim Kelly involved.

The ad was another run-through style commercial which had quick cameos from players, past and present. Kelly, the former Bills great and Hall of Famer gives a shoutout to the fan base.

“Mafia style, nice,” Kelly says as Diana Flores, quarterback of Mexico Women’s National Flag Football team runs by.

She so happens to go through a table in the ad, prompting Kelly’s line.

The sequence of bringing longtime legends into the fold has often paid off for the NFL. In past years, such pieces received high ad grades from the likes of USA TODAY’s Ad Meter.

That happened again, as this advert featuring Kelly hauled in the second-highest rating of any Super Bowl commercial this year.
