Studs and Duds from Jets’ 27-6 embarrassment Monday

Studs and duds from Jets’ 27-6 embarrassment Monday

Monday night was a downright embarrassing loss for the New York Jets. The offense was a mess as quarterback Zach Wilson was sacked eight times and the team lost three fumbles in a 27-6 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The loss dropped the Jets to 4-4 and down to 11th in the playoff standings with nine games left.

While the game was a nightmare overall, there were a couple of players who stood out in a positive way, mostly on the defensive side of the football. Of course, there were those that who stood out in a negative way as well. Let’s try to sort through the rubble. Here is your Week 9 edition of Studs and Duds.

Studs and duds from Jets’ 31-21 win over Broncos in Week 5

The Jets went to Denver almost needing a win to save their season. They came away with a 31-21 victory and a 2-3 record that gives the team hope again with the schedule lightening up after the bye week.

Who stood out and helped the Jets get that big win? Here’s our Week 5 “Studs and Duds”.

Sam Darnold, Bryce Hall among Jets’ Studs & Duds in Week 15 upset win over Rams

Jets Wire takes a look at the Jets studs and duds from the team’s 23-20 win against the Rams on Sunday.

Well, it finally happened.

The Jets won their first game of the season Sunday, holding off the Rams to win 23-20 on the road. New York came into the game as 17-point underdogs and nearly blew a 17-point lead. Still, the Jets left the West Coast victorious, even with the Rams having 10 days to prepare for a team they certainly overlooked.

Gang Green finally got a full team effort from all three units on Sunday. Even if Jets fans weren’t happy with the result — it means the team no longer has the inside track on Trevor Lawrence — the Jets avoided making NFL history in the process.

With that said, let’s take a look at New York’s best and worst performers from Sunday’s win.

Sergio Castillo, Frank Gore among Jets’ Studs & Duds in Week 14 loss to Seahawks

Jets Wire takes a look at the Jets studs and duds from the team’s 40-3 loss against the Seahawks on Sunday.

After the Jets came so close to securing their first win of the season last week, they were delivered a dose of reality in an embarrassing 40-3 defeat at the hands of the Seahawks this weekend.

The Jets struck first, but never struck again. The anemic offense was never jumpstarted and the team’s porous defense couldn’t stop a nose bleed. All in all, it was an atypical, uninspiring performance for Adam Gase’s team, which inched increasingly closer to 0-16 with a 37-point defeat.

Let’s take a look at New York’s best and (mostly) worst from the team’s latest loss.

Young secondary, Sam Darnold among Jets’ Studs & Duds in Week 13 loss to Raiders

Jets Wire takes a look at the Jets studs and duds from the team’s 31-28 loss against the Raiders on Sunday.

While it didn’t happen in the fashion the Jets or Raiders might have envisioned, New York dropped its 12th straight game of the season Sunday while maintaining its lead in the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. The Raiders were able to knock off the Jets, 31-28, avoiding another East Coast letdown.

The Jets put together quite the comeback effort in the second half behind the team’s rushing attack and Gregg Williams’ defense. The bend but don’t break mentality held until the dam burst on a 3rd and 10 at the end of the game, on which Williams sent an all-out blitz. Derek Carr threw a bomb, Henry Ruggs III was all alone and that was that.

Let’s take a look at New York’s best and worst from the team’s latest loss.

Sam Darnold, Breshad Perriman among Jets’ Studs & Duds in Week 12 loss to Dolphins

Jets Wire takes a look at the Jets studs and duds from the team’s 20-3 loss against the Dolphins on Sunday.

Every week is becoming Bill Murray’s Groundhog Day for the Jets.

While not every loss has been the same, the result always is. The Dolphins handily defeated the Jets, 20-3, on Sunday and have now outscored Gang Green 44-3 this season.

Even though the Jets scored 27 and 28 points, respectively, in their past two games, the offense regressed to the norm with Sam Darnold back under center. The Jets had their top three wide receivers and Darnold on the field at the same time and the offense had three points to show for it.

The Jets defense played particularly well, but the offense had nothing to show for two forced turnovers in positive territory. It’s been that type of season for the Jets.

With that, let’s take a look at New York’s best and worst from the Week 12 loss.
