Report: Robert Kraft met with Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez about Mets bid

At the age of 79, Robert Kraft continues chasing financial success.

The New York Mets could very possibly have new owners in Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft reportedly saw an opportunity and wants to help out with their new venture.

Kraft and his son Jonathan met up with Rodriguez and Lopez at Gillette Stadium, along with bankers from JPMorgan Chase to discuss a possible bid on the Mets, according to the New York Post. Kraft would be involved with developing a Mets mall that is comparable to Patriots Place at Gillette Stadium.

Kraft, 79, is one of the most successful owners of a professional sports franchise and his past success would tremendously help the young and aspiring team owners in Rodriguez and Lopez.

Here’s what the New York Post said.

According to multiple sources who witnessed the visit, J-Rod flew to Foxborough, Mass., on July 9 to meet with Bob and Jonathan Kraft, father-and-son owners of the New England Patriots, to hammer out a partnership on stadium operations for Citi Field and the development of Willets Point around the ballpark.

Per insiders, the visit lasted five hours, during which the Krafts showed J-Rod around both Gillette Stadium and their adjoining entertainment, retail and hospitality complex, Patriot Place. The tour was meant to show the potential new Mets owners what can be done with a stadium and the undeveloped land around it.

Though New York holds some of the biggest rivalries to Massachusetts-based professional sports teams — Kraft has shown love in recent memory. He would enter another gigantic market and continue to build on the $6.9 billion net worth that he carries.

Report: NFL stars join ARod/JLo bid to buy New York Mets

Three NFL stars have joined the sports-power group headed by Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez looking to buy the Mets.

As if the Alex Rodriguez/Jennifer Lopez bid to buy the New York  Mets didn’t have enough star power, it added plenty of muscle with the news Monday three NFL players have joined their power group seeking ownership.

ESPN reported Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher, Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce and 2014 NFL Offensive Player of the Year DeMarco Murray are part of the ARod/JLo pursuit.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have such high-quality individuals as part of our group,” Lopez and Rodriguez told ESPN.

The group has already submitted its initial bid of $1.7 billion. Hedge fund billionaire Steve Cohen has made a top bid so far of $2 billion, according to a report by the New York Post. Mets COO Jeff Wilpon would prefer to sell to the Rodriguez-Lopez group if its offer is close to the best bid at the end of the auction, according to the Post.

Rodriguez and Lopez have put $300 million of their own money toward the bid. Other investors include future offensive lineman Joe Thomas, who spent his entire career with the Cleveland Browns, two-time NBA All-Star Bradley Beal from the Washington Wizards, and Denver Nuggets center Mason Plumlee.

The ESPN report was able to get quotes from the new investors:

“Being a former athlete and having a chance to be a part of a group trying to purchase a professional team, it’s pretty cool,” Urlacher told ESPN on Monday. “It’s especially cool to be involved with Alex. Alex is the man. You’ve got Kelce, Joe Thomas, DeMarco Murray. It’s great to be in a group with them.”

Added Chiefs tight end Kelce, “This is a crazy opportunity. I had a chance to meet Alex Rodriguez a couple years ago and just told him how much of a fan I was as a kid of him. I’m very thankful for the success that I’ve had in the NFL, to have an opportunity like this come across the table. I couldn’t think of a more unique set of people to be in charge of this.

“Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez are a star-studded couple that have gotten to where they are because they work their tails off. And they’re good human beings. I thank them for letting me be a part of this.”

Green Bay Packers will feature ARod and JLo in 2020

The Green Bay Packers have their own ARod and JLo in quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love.

ARod and J Lo are everywhere. Their reach has extended to Green Bay and the NFL.

No, not the loving couple of Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez. Rather, the Packers’ quarterback exacta of Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love.

The Packers took the Utah State quarterback in the first round Thursday, sparking a buzz the great Rodgers might not be welcoming to the future of the franchise at QB.

Love, however, says nothing could be further from the truth. Rodgers reached out and connected to the draft pick.

Green Bay GM Brian Gutekunst said Love should be prepared to watch and learn much in the way Rodgers did when he was chosen and was behind Brett Favre for the first three years of his career.

Russell Wilson and Ciara auction off double date for charity

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara are auctioning off a double date with them through Fanatics’ All In Challenge.

Seattle Seahawks star quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, Grammy-award winning singer Ciara, are continuing to find innovative ways to help the Seattle community, many who are suffering thanks to the stay-at-home order in response to COVID-19.

After pledging meals to feed the needy, Wilson and Ciara are now taking part in the All In Challenge, an auction event sponsored by Fanatics that is donating 100% of the proceeds to Feeding America, Meals On Wheels, World Central Kitchen and No Kid Hungry.

The auction item up for bid is a double date with Wilson and Ciara, where they will agree to take the winner and one guest to dinner at one of their favorite restaurants. The winner will be flown out to the destination by Wilson and Ciara – via Wheels Up, another of Wilson’s charitable endeavors.

Wilson and Ciara announced the auction on Twitter, with Wilson extending the challenge to another pair of celebrity couples: former baseball star Alex Rodriguez and singer/actress Jennifer Lopez, as well as singer John Legend and model/actress Chrissy Teigen.

The bidding began at $10,000 dollars, and was already up over double that at the time of this writing.

WATCH: Former Met Paul Lo Duca calls Alex Rodriguez ‘one of the fakest people out there’

Paul Lo Duca, who played for 11 years in MLB, says he’s not buying the “new and improved A-Rod.”

Former New York Met Paul Lo Duca is not holding back his feelings about New York Yankee-turned-analyst Alex Rodriguez, calling him “one of the fakest people out there.”

Lo Duca made that claim in an interview with New York radio station WFAN on Monday:

“People know I’m not a fan, and I’m sorry,” Lo Duca said. “Never will be a fan. I just think he’s one of the fakest people out there…. The way he gets put on a pedestal now is beyond me.”

Lo Duca and Rodriguez both were named in the Mitchell Report, the 409-page bombshell from 2007 that listed 89 Major League Baseball players alleged to have used steroids or performance-enhancing drugs. But Lo Duca says A-Rod’s repeated lies over the years have put him back in the public’s good graces.

Here’s a longer excerpt from his conversation with WFAN:

“I was in the Mitchell Report, something I’ll never be proud of and something that was a mistake of mine a long time ago,” he said. “But I owned up to it. I didn’t lie. Owned up to it immediately, it was over with, and people can judge me the way they want to judge me. … But when you completely lie about it for years after years after years after years, you cash in $260 million and people are like, ‘Well, he’s successful,’ well, hell yeah, he’s successful. … So, now his relationship with [Jennifer Lopez] has taken him to a level that he’s a saint. Give me a break!”

Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez absolutely crushed the ‘Flip the Switch’ TikTok challenge

Look, they just flipped a switch.

The “Flip the Switch” Challenge is the latest funny TikTok meme sweeping through the video app and on social media.

It takes a clip from Drake’s Nonstop in which you hear the rapper say “I just flipped the switch.” It’s at that point two people — or, sometimes, multiple folks — turn off the light and turn it on again to reveal they’ve switched clothes and positions. It’s hilarious and I may or may not have spent an hour of my Sunday flipping through the best ones on Twitter.

The challenge has officially reached the mainstream, and here’s Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez doing it so very well:

Also, here’s an amazing one from Saturday Night Live with senator Elizabeth Warren and cast member Kate McKinnon, who plays her on the NBC show:

Controversial minister: Super Bowl halftime show ‘put me in danger of hell fire’

A former Ohio high school football coach and current right-wing minister is hot under the collar after he believes he was subjected to watch an excessively lascivious Super Bowl LIV halftime show, courtesy of J-Lo and Shakira.

Dave Daubenmire, the controversial 67-year-old host of “Pass the Salt Ministries’ Coach Dave LIVE” web show and who was sued by the American Civil Liberties Union for forcing his players to pray with him, is pumped up for his own lawsuit. Daubenmire was not pleased, at all, with last Sunday’s halftime, uh, entertainment.

“I think we ought to sue,” he said. “Would that halftime show, would that have been rated PG? Were there any warnings that your 12-year-old son – whose hormones are just starting to operate – was there any warning that what he was going to see might cause him to get sexually excited?” He also asked: “Could I go into a courtroom and say, ‘viewing what you put on that screen put me in danger of hellfire?”

The controversial evangelist thinks a settlement of $867 trillion would be fair compensation for the “crotch shots” viewers were forced to watch.

You can watch the entire rant below:

In an interview with Newsweek Friday, Daubenmire clarified his comments:

“My position is not about my own salvation; my salvation is secure. I’m not gonna lose my salvation for watching a clip at the Super Bowl,” he added. “Parents have the right to know pornography is coming into their home.”

Daubenmire told Newsweek his fight is for parental rights to keep pornography out of the minds of children. “Soft pornography was pumped into homes of God-fearing people without the approval of their parents. That’s my point.”

On the podcast, Daubenmire said the halftime performance was filled with unsolicited “crotch shots” from Lopez and Shakira. He later explained to Newsweek that if the NFL wanted to do that, they have should have warned their viewers beforehand.

“If the NFL wants to have crotch shots at halftime, put up a warning ‘May not be suitable for young children,'” he said.

In all fairness, most people agree the halftime show was a bit risque — what did you expect from a Super Bowl played in President Trump’s beloved Florida? — but couldn’t have just changed the channel or turned off the TV?

Alex Rodriguez danced along with fans on the field during fiance Jennifer Lopez’s Super Bowl Halftime show

He had so much fun.

The slightly bad news: for anyone hoping to see Alex Rodriguez do something funny or sweet in front of the cameras during Jennifer Lopez’s awesome halftime show at Super Bowl 54, he wasn’t seen (and that’s fine! The show belonged to J. Lo and Shakira!).

The really good news: Rodriguez helped us all out anyway and posted a video to Twitter in which he showed what he was doing during the show. He joined the crowd on the field and danced around joyfully. He added “She ABSOLUTELY CRUSHED IT!” continuing to be the most supportive future husband.

Here’s the video:

Looks like he’s having a good time overall:
