Jennifer Lopez’s family cant stop texting about the New York Jets in the Netflix trailer for ‘Halftime’

Stars and their families: They’re just like us!

Stars and their families — they’re just like us!

That’s the case with Jennifer Lopez and her family group text chain, as we found out this week from the trailer for her new Netflix documentary, Halftime.

It was at the end of the two-plus minutes preview that we saw footage of Lopez riding in the back of a car and showing her family group chat … and although there’s some sharing about Lopez’s Hustlers film premiere in Toronto, it’s all about the New York Jets.

“We need a freakin kicker,” says Lopez’s mom.

All she can do is write, “Go Jets.” Amazing:

Michael Kay savagely trolled A-Rod over Jennifer Lopez’s engagement to Ben Affleck on ‘Sunday Night Baseball’

Too soon!

Ah, the sweet sounds of regular season baseball.

After a 99-day lockout and shortened spring training, MLB games are finally back in our lives. The pop of the catcher’s mitt, the crack of the bat, the awkward silence of Alex Rodriguez after being thoroughly embarrassed on live television. All of it on glorious display Sunday night.

Attempting to capitalize on the success of the ManningCast, ESPN has, for reasons passing understanding, put together a secondary Sunday Night Baseball broadcast of Michael Kay and Alex Rodriguez. They debuted during Sunday’s Red Sox-Yankees game (of course) and only a day after Rodriguez’s ex-fiancé Jennifer Lopez announced her engagement to Ben Affleck—a fact that Kay not-so-subtly worked into his commentary.

Notice how A-Rod is nodding along, half-listening to his colleague until he processes just what Kay was saying there at the end and gives a forced laugh. He could not be more ready to move the conversation back to the game.

For those just getting caught up here:

A-Rod and J-Lo were engaged for two years from 2019-2021. They broke up last April, which led to a reunion between Lopez and Affleck—who previously dated from 2002-2004 and were engaged to wed before calling things off.

Nearly two decades later, Bennifer is back and better than ever. It just happened to come at the expense of Alex Rodriguez, who now has to chuckle his way through jokes about a former partner.

Oh, and the Red Sox won, 4-3, on Sunday. A tough night all around for the former Yankee.

Ben Affleck whispering to Jennifer Lopez at the Lakers game inevitably became a meme

Some good memes right https://twitter.com/HalfCourtHoops/status/1468430462955798529?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1468430462955798529%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fnypost.com%2F2021%2F12%2F08%2Ftwitter-had-fun-with-jennifer-lopez-ben-affleck-at-lakers-game%2Fhere.

Bennifer 2.0 was courtside at the Los Angeles Lakers’ win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were quite adorable while taking in the game, even while getting videobombed by LeBron James and a night that included getting a gift from Russell Westbrook.

But there’s one video that has everyone making memes — because of course that’s the end result — in which the actor whispers something to Lopez, who appears to respond something like “Yeah I know.”

So what was said? We’ll never know. But the memes that came out of it were fantastic. Here’s a sampling:

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were extremely adorable while courtside at the Lakers and Celtics game

AWWWWWW

Ah, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck! Couples goals and such!

The pair were together courtside for the big Los Angeles Lakers’ win over the Boston Celtics at the Staples Center — er, is it Crypto.com Arena yet? — on Tuesday night, with Affleck watching the team he presumably roots for get taken down 117-102.

There were a few moments captured on camera of the pair being extremely adorable, so of course we had to put them together in one place — they were on the jumbotron, they got a meeting with Russell Westbrook, and more.

Here’s a roundup of their night in Los Angeles:

Alex Rodriguez posted an Instagram Story about Jennifer Lopez before the breakup news

With Coldplay as the soundtrack.

J-Rod is no more, with Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez announcing their breakup on Thursday morning in a joint statement, a month after they said they were “working through some things.”

Other than the statement, we haven’t heard from them beyond that. But on Wednesday, an Instagram Story from Rodriguez appears to have a much different feel to it on Thursday.

It’s a video showing photos of the two of them together, plus a “Jennifer + Alex” in a heart picture, with the sounds of Coldplay’s Fix You (could the lyrics be his message to J. Lo?) playing under the whole thing.

Here’s what he put out there on Wednesday:

12 sweet moments from Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s relationship before their breakup

Their breakup is official.

First, last month, Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez were broken up.

But then, they decided to stay together, continuing a four-year relationship.

On Thursday, it became official with a statement to the Today show that was confirmed by USA TODAY: “We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”

Let’s look back on some of the sweet moments from their relationship:

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez split after four years, call off engagement

Heartbreak, it’s real.

After four years as a couple, a romantic beach proposal and a first date that included a text that said, ‘You look sexy AF,’ Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have called it quits.

As first reported by Page Six and then confirmed by every other entertainment website, the couple have split and called off their two-year engagement. The duo were supposed to get married earlier in 2020, but COIVD ruined those plans.

The couple was last seen together at President Joe Biden’s inauguration, where ARod was doing the supportive boyfriend thing he’s become famous for. Two weeks ago, Lopez posted a photo of them looking particularly close on her Instagram.

ARod, for his part, posted a solo selfie on Instagram, with this horrible dad joke.

As much as I want to cherry pick through the remains of this relationship and figure out just what wrong, it looks like the wound is still pretty fresh. There are, of course, rumors about what went down, but I’ll let you Google those for yourselves. (hint: It involves a Bravo reality star)

In the meantime, it sucks that two people who have been through a tremendous amount in their personal and professional lives couldn’t make it work. Rather than cast individual blame and BOY I BET THERE IS BLAME, I’m going to try to be nice for once in my life and say that it’s probably really hard for two high profile people with high profile careers and a ton of baggage to make it work.

This is a bummer for them, but I think the lesson we can all learn is you shouldn’t wear a World Series ring to pop the question. Sorry, that thing is bad luck now.

Joe Tsai shuts down claim that he’s in on J-Lo, A-Rod’s Mets bid

Mason Plumlee indicated Joe Tsai was going to try to purchase the Mets with him, Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez, but that’s not the case.

The first post at the top of the home page on Mason Plumlee’s personal website is a piece about former Brookly Nets big man interest in purchasing the New York Mets as a part of former New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and singer/actress Jennifer Lopez’s group.

In the post, Plumlee indicated Tsai was now part of the Rodriguez-Lopez party, as well.

But there was a report from Brian Lewis of the New York Post indicating that was not the case.

With Brooklyn’s games being broadcast on the New York Yankees-owned YES Network, it might create complications if the Nets governor owner the other MLB team in town.

It turns out YES Network has nothing to worry about.

After Tsai’s involvement in the Rodriguez-Lopez bid made the rounds on Twitter, the Nets governor tweeted he isn’t involved in the bid:

Sorry Twitter, it is not true. I grew up as a Mets fan and I have a lot of respect for Alex and Jennifer. But I’m not involved in bidding for the Mets. Gotta focus on basketball.

Joe Tsai linked to J-Lo, A-Rod’s bid to buy Mets

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez want Brooklyn Nets governor Joe Tsai to buy the New York Mets with them.

Joe Tsai diversified his business portfolio further when he became the Brooklyn Nets’ majority owner prior to the 2019-20 season. But the Alibaba co-founder and executive may have plans to invest in another major American professional sports franchise.

Tsai has now been linked to the New York Mets.

The power couple of former New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and singer/actress Jennifer Lopez are reportedly working toward buying the Mets from the Wilpons. In doing so, they’ve attempted to align themselves with other big names.

Among those who’ve been linked to Rodriguez and Lopez’s group is former Brooklyn Nets big man Mason Plumlee. On his personal website, Plumlee wrote that Tsai is now “in the mix as a partner”:

The reality is this group has plenty of money and experience. There’s no bigger, more dynamic, power couple than A-Rod and J-Lo. Vinnie and Mike Repole are first-generation billionaires with passion and vision. Alex knows a little something about baseball. Jennifer is a mogul in the entertainment industry. Vinnie knows the ownership gig as owner of the Florida Panthers. And spoiler alert: we’ve now got another billionaire sports owner in the mix as a partner — Joe Tsai — who brings our collective net worth to the top of the bid list.

However, there may be an issue with Tsai’s involvement.

Brian Lewis of the New York Post is reporting Tsai is not in on the bid, due to the Nets’ partnership with YES Network — which is owned by the Yankees.

Given Brooklyn’s games are broadcast on YES, there might be some complications with the Nets governor owning a stake in the other MLB in town.
