Ohio State WR commit Jayden Ballard makes huge jump in latest 247Sports rankings

Ohio State football commitment Jayden Ballard made a huge jump inside the top 50 in the latest 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Ohio State football’s 2021 recruiting class continues to get better even without receiving a commitment as of late. After a flurry of big-time news on the recruiting front in March and April, things have calmed down just a little.

Even so, one of Ohio State’s wide receiver commitments for the 2021 class just got a huge boost in the 247Sports recruiting rankings and is now a top 50 overall prospect. At 6-foot, 2-inches, and 172-pounds, the Buckeyes did their homework on the elite pass-catcher Jayden Ballard out of Massillon Washington, and the rest of the world is starting to get on board.

Ballard is now ranked as the No. 2 player in Ohio, the No. 5 receiver in the class, and the No. 49 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. That’s a huge jump from previous when Ballard was No. 108 in the 247Sports rankings.

With such a huge bump, that now makes a total of seven 2021 commits in the top 50 for Ohio State’s class. And there could be another one on the way if the top-rated receiver for 2021, Emeka Egbuka, comes on board as expected.

The rich just keep getting richer, especially at the wide receiver position in Columbus.

Ohio State football 2021 WR commit Jayden Ballard to play in All-American Bowl

Ohio State’s 2021 class continues to impress as four-star WR Jayden Ballard has accepted an offer to participate in the All-American Bowl.

The Ohio State football program has one of the nation’s best inbound recruiting classes in 2020. However, somehow, the 2021 class may ultimately top the one joining Ryan Day’s staff this coming season. It’s on pace to be one of the best ever since the modern recruiting measurements were put in place.

With four five-star recruits and a whopping eleven four-star recruits, the Buckeyes currently hold the No. 1 class in the nation according to 247Sports Team Composite Rankings. In that class is wide receiver Jayden Ballard.

A four-star recruit and the third-best player in the state of Ohio, the 6-foot-2 stud was recruited by Brian Hartline, continuing to further Hartline’s dominance as a recruiter.

That said, Ballard will be the fourth player in the Massillon Tigers’ history to participate in the All-American Bowl. Coach Nate Moore announced that Ballard has been offered to play in the bowl.

And, then, if there was any doubt, Eleven Warriors’ Zach Carpenter confirmed that he’ll be playing in the high-profile game seemingly full of Buckeyes.

Ballard will be the seventh Buckeye to play in the 2021 bowl.

“Massillon Washington (Ohio) receiver star Jayden Ballard announced on Saturday that he has accepted an invitation to the All-American game, becoming the seventh player in the Buckeyes’ 2021 class to commit to playing in the bowl,” Eleven Warriors’ Zach Carpenter wrote.

This is just another example of the star power joining the Buckeyes in the next few years. He’ll be one of over 20 four-and-five-star recruits to make Columbus their home before 2022.
