Jeff Bezos plays it coy when asked about interest in buying Commanders

Bezos didn’t confirm — nor deny — interest in the Commanders, and his partner, Lauren Sanchez, really loves football.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has long been rumored to have an interest in buying an NFL franchise. The franchise that has caught Bezos’ eye is reportedly the Washington Commanders. Bezos owns The Washington Post, so his interest in the Commanders makes sense.

When current Washington owner Daniel Snyder recently hired Bank of America to “explore potential transactions,” the Bezos rumors went into overdrive. Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported Snyder’s intention is a complete sale of the franchise.

In a recent interview with CNN’s Chloe Melas, Bezos was asked about the buzz of potentially adding NFL owner to his resume.

“Yes, I’ve heard that buzz,” Bezos said while laughing. Bezos’ partner, Lauren Sanchez spoke up and said, “I do like football. I am just going to throw that out there for everyone,” she said.

Bezos laughed and offered the following response.

“There’s not much I can say about that right now, but she does like football.”

Melas then asked Bezos if owning a professional sports team was always a part of his dream.

“Well, I grew up in Houston, Texas, and I played football growing up as a kid,” Bezos said. “It is my favorite sport; we’ll just have to wait and see.”

After Bezos spoke, Sanchez chimed in again, “Once again, I do like football.”

Bezos is one of the multiple names with a reported interest in the Commanders. There is a rumored partnership with millionaire music mogul Jay-Z as the two prepare a bid for the Washington NFL franchise.

You can say a lot without saying a thing. And that’s what Bezos did in this interview. His words — or lack of words —combined with Sanchez’s “love” of football, tell you he plans to make a serious run at buying the Commanders.

Red Sox owner John Henry emerges as possible bidder for the Commanders

John Henry is a longtime successful sports owner.

Another day, another potential name entered the bidding for the Washington Commanders.

Boston Red Sox and Liverpool Football Club owner John Henry is viewed as a possible bidder for the Washington Commanders, according to Josh Kosman of the New York Post.

Henry’s Fenway Sports Group recently hired Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to help sell Liverpool. That deal could bring between $4 and $5 billion in return for Henry.

Per the Post, Henry could already have a deal to sell Liverpool to an “unnamed Qatar-based investor.”

If Henry can close that deal, that would give him the capital to be a serious bidder for the Commanders, particularly if Jeff Bezos and Jay-Z are involved in the bidding process.

The Commanders could fetch anywhere from $5.6 billion to $8 billion.

Henry is also involved in NASCAR and is listed as the owner of the No. 17 car driven by Chris Buescher.

Henry, a self-made businessman and investor bought the Red Sox in 2002. Boston has enjoyed unprecedented success under Henry’s ownership. After famously not winning a World Series since 1918, the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004 and have won a total of four in Henry’s 20 years of ownership. Before he owned the Red Sox, Henry briefly owned the then-Florida Marlins.

Henry also owns multiple newspapers.

Henry is a longtime successful sports owner with a history of success. That’s something Washington fans have dreamt about for 23 years.

Matthew McConaughey joining Jeff Bezos/Jay-Z in bid for Commanders

Longtime fan Matthew McConaughey is the latest name to join the Jeff Bezos/Jay-Z bid for the Washington Commanders.

Matthew McConaughey is arguably the most prominent celebrity fan of the Washington Commanders. McConaughey has been seen at Washington games over the years and is friendly with owner Daniel Snyder.

Now, McConaughey may have designs on being Washington’s next owner.

According to Sara Nathan and Michael Blinn of the New York Post, McConaughey is joining the team of Jeff Bezos and Jay-Z in their planned bid for the Commanders. Last week, the Commanders confirmed a report that they were exploring potential transactions, which included selling the franchise.

On Sunday, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported that the NFL wanted to fast-track Washington’s sale and believe it could be wrapped up in six months or by the NFL owner’s meetings in March.

The New York Post received the following quote from a source familiar with McConaughey’s thinking.

“Matthew has always been a huge fan and his ties with the team go way back,” the source sad. “They support his foundation and he’s good pals with Dan Snyder — he and [supermodel wife Camilla Alves] were on Dan’s yacht over the Super Bowl last year.”

McConaughey was always seen with Snyder when he chose to attend games, as was Tom Cruise.

The Post report also states that the Bezos/Jay-Z bid is expected to come in January.

McConaughey has long discussed his love of Washington, which he said began as a kid growing up in Texas. He loved hamburgers, and Washington linebacker Chris Hanburger’s name sounded like hamburger, so that was how he became a fan.

NBA superstar Kevin Durant, also a Washington fan, has mentioned he’d like to be included in the possible Bezos/Jay-Z bid.

Report: Jeff Bezos ‘looking into buying’ Commanders

The report cites Jay-Z as a possible partner.

It didn’t take long for Jeff Bezos to be linked to the Washington Commanders. According to a report from People, Bezos is “looking into buying” the NFL franchise.

One day after Forbes reported that owners Dan and Tanya Snyder had hired Bank of America to explore a potential sale of the team, Bezos is the second name being linked as a possible candidate to buy the Commanders. Media mogul Byron Allen is also reportedly interested.

The People report also suggests that Bezos could partner with Jay-Z. Jay-Z, of course, once owned a stake in the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets.

Bezos, who has a net worth of $115 billion according to Bloomberg, would become the richest NFL owner, surpassing new Broncos owner Rob Walton. If Bezos is truly interested in Washington, the price tag will not be an issue.

Amazon currently has an 11-year agreement with the NFL to broadcast Thursday Night Football. The deal runs through 2033 and is worth over $1 billion per year.

Jay-Z had a priceless reaction to a late Kevin Durant 3-pointer and NBA fans loved it

LOL.

Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets are on to the Boston Celtics.

That’s because the Nets took care of business Tuesday night at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning their play-in game, 115-108, and setting up a first-round date with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics.

Kyrie (34 points) and KD (25 points) came out firing early on and carried the Nets throughout the game.

Midway through the fourth quarter KD hit a big 3-pointer that got Barclays Center rocking. One fan who really loved the shot was Jay-Z, who was sitting courtside and had a pretty great reaction to the bucket.

Too good.

Here are a couple other looks at it:

Twitter had reactions.

The Denver Broncos are officially up for sale and the team is expected to be sold for more than $4 billion. The Broncos are hoping to complete a sale before the 2022 NFL season, but the process could take months to finalize.

We will be tracking all of the latest developments on the ownership front on this page in the coming weeks and months.

Another billionaire linked to Broncos sale proves to be a false alarm

Jeff Bezos and Robert F. Smith are not interested in buying the Broncos, if reports are to be believed.

John Elway and Peyton Manning are both interested in becoming owners of the Denver Broncos, but neither of them could afford to buy the team on their own.

That’s why Elway and Manning want to join an ownership group as minority investors, presumably with a billionaire serving as the controlling owner.

Several big names have been linked to the team as potential new owners, but none of them have stuck so far. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been mentioned repeatedly, but Peter King of NBC Sports has reported Bezos is not interested in buying the team.

Rapper/businessman Jay-Z has also been linked to the Broncos, but KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis reported in September there were “no developments” on that front. It seems the Jay-Z buzz was merely speculation.

Last month, Front Office Sports reported that billionaire Robert F. Smith had “emerged as one of the possible bidders” to buy the team. That appears to have been a false alarm as well.

“He is not a potential buyer and is not planning on purchasing the Broncos,” an unnamed source told Klis in a story published Monday.

So we’ve had a lot of speculation, but no real action so far. Broncos Wire will continue tracking the team’s latest ownership developments in the coming weeks.

Jay-Z is really unbeatable in ‘Verzuz’ but here are 9 rappers who might make it fun

No one is touching Hov but we would love to see these.

The internet has been in a fracas over the last few days because of one Jay-Z. The God MC. The greatest rapper of all time. Ever.

What’d he do? He let us know just how good he is.

Hov hopped in a Twitter Space with Alicia Keys earlier this week and was asked about the potential of him doing a “Verzuz” battle. For those of us who don’t know, “Verzuz” is an online platform where artists from across genres get together and play music against each other in a quasi competition.

It’s not really competitive — it’s all in fun. But it’s nice to talk about who would give who a good run.

Jay-Z set the internet ablaze by saying there was no one out there who could compete with him.

Honestly? He’s not wrong. Jay-Z is pretty untouchable on most accounts. But while Jay might be untouchable, though, that doesn’t mean he can’t do a Verzuz. Someone just has to be willing to lose. And losing can be fun!

So here are some people who might make the loss a great time at the very least.

JAY-Z may have finally ended the ‘$500,000 or dinner with JAY-Z’ debate and we should all be thankful

JAY-Z might’ve settled this, once and for all.

Internet debates are almost always insufferable. We’ve seen so many over the years.

What color is this dress? Is it saying Laurel or Yanny? Should avocado toast even exist? Pineapple on pizza? Y’all remember them all, I’m sure. Because, more than likely, you’ve engaged in one of these pointless conversations.

But one of the most insufferable debates online was whether you’d have dinner with billionaire hip-hop mogul JAY-Z or take $500,000 instead of the dinner.

And, of course, the correct answer is always taking $500,000. It’s $500,000 more than you currently have, regardless of how much money you have, and there’s no guarantee that JAY-Z will even like you, let alone give you good life advice.

Yet, there were still people who were choosing the dinner with Jay for whatever reason.

Now, though, the debate is settled. And JAY-Z, himself, may have been the one to settle it. Tidal, the music streaming company JAY-Z owns a portion of and is the face of, tweeted this on Wednesday night.

Man. That’s JAY-Z’s company telling everyone to take the $500,000. The debate is over. There never should’ve been any debate in the first place.

We’re not sure if Jay actually sent this tweet, but we think he did.
