Michigan football offers 2025 five-star EDGE, teammate of Brady Hart

Whoa. #GoBlue

On Friday, Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell went down to Cocoa (Fla.) to see 2026 four-star quarterback commit Brady Hart, and it turns out they saw some other talent they liked.

Shortly after the visit, the Wolverines offered Hart’s 2025 wide receiver teammate Jayvan Boggs, but on Monday, another got an offer. And it’s a big one.

Formerly a Florida State commit, 2025 Cocoa (Fla.) five-star EDGE Javion Hilson is an elite recruit who is garnering a ton of interest from top programs as early signing day draws near. Though it may be late in the game, Michigan football offered Hilson, hoping it can lure him into the class.

Here is how Hilson ranks according to the recruiting sites:

* Ovr Pos St
247Sports Composite 4 40 2 7
On3 Industry Ranking 4 48 4 7
247Sports 4 69 6 10
On3 4 76 8 12
ESPN 4 77 11 12
Rivals 5 16 1 2

The scouting report from 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins:

Athletic edge defender with long limbs and upfield burst. Excels as a face-up rusher and has hounded quarterbacks while working as a wide 9 in a four-man front. Measured just under 6-foot-4, 225 pounds spring before junior season, but has added some good weight in advance of senior campaign and should be able to take on more mass in the coming years. Not one to give up on a play and will keep the foot on the pedal to make tackles outside of his lane. Formidable punch can make it hard for blockers to latch onto him, but must get better at holding his ground and keeping containment when runs come his way. Increased flexibility could also lead to more sacks as it would allow him to dip more effectively when turning the corner. Combination of physical traits, testing data, and functional athleticism suggest ample long-term upside. Could emerge as a high-major impact player for a College Football Playoff contender with early-round NFL Draft upside.

Hilson is making his decision on early signing day, Dec. 4. He has recently visited Syracuse, Texas, Florida State (after his decommitment), and UCF.

Texas A&M is reportedly trending towards landing two elite 2025 propsects

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class could see two more commits in the coming weeks

Texas A&M’s 38-23 win over LSU will go down in Aggie history as one of greatest comebacks over the past decade-plus, as the Tiger’s 17-7 halftime lead evaporated after Aggies’ head coach Mike Elko made the switch at quarterback to dual-threat Marcel Reed, who jolted the offense to five consecutive scoring drives.

While the Aggies are focused on traveling to face South Carolina for a second consecutive primetime game, Elko and staff made significant strides on the recruiting trail, already landing three commitments in the 2026 class after Saturday’s win, while it has now been confirmed that the Aggies are trending towards landing two prospects in the 2025 cycle.

2025 4-star wide receiver CJ Wiley, alongside 2025 5-star Edge Javion Hilson, both attended Saturday’s game, experiencing everything the program had to offer while taking part in the blackout while watching the Aggies defeat a top 10-ranked team in front of over 108,000 fans in Kyle Field.

Just a day after visiting, Wiley announced his decommitment from Florida State, immediately spurring speculation that the Aggies are now the front-runner for the Georgia product.

On Tuesday, On3 Recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong revealed that Wiley and Hilson are now trending towards signing with Texas A&M. However, Georiga, LSU, and Colorado are also in the mix for Wiley.

Hilson, who has remained a favorite to land with the Texas Longhorns, will reportedly return to College Station for Texas A&M vs. Texas and, according to Wiltfong, feels the Aggies are the team to watch for him going forward.

Here is the full video:

Texas A&M will travel to Columbia to face South Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 2nd, at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on either ABC or ESPN+.

FSU decommit plans visit with Georgia, more

Four-star Florida State decommitment is expected to visit the Georgia Bulldogs this fall

Florida State Seminoles decommitment Javion Hilson plans to visit with several college football programs this fall including the Georgia Bulldogs. Hilson is one of the premier pass rushers in the class of 2025.

The four-star edge rusher is the second-ranked player at his position in the country. Hilson, who is the No. 34 recruit in the country, is just a few ranking places away from being a five-star prospect, per 247Sports. The elite edge rusher is the No. 6 recruit in Florida.

Hilson plays for Cocoa High School in Cocoa, Florida. Cocoa is one of the most competitive high school programs in the state.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound edge rusher plans to visit Florida, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Texas A&M and Syracuse this fall. Hilson will be in attendance for the Texas A&M Aggies at Florida Gators game this weekend.

Head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia football have the No. 4 recruiting class in the country. The Bulldogs are always looking for top edge rushers like Javion Hilson.

Longhorns target Javion Hilson decommits from FSU

On Sunday, four-star defensive end Javion Hilson de-committed, with plans to make a final decision closer to the early signing period

For the second time in the last week, Florida State lost one of its top recruits in the 2025 class. On Sunday, four-star defensive end Javion Hilson de-committed, with plans to make a final decision closer to the early signing period in December. He had been committed to the Seminoles since Jan. 12.

ESPN ranks the Cocoa High School product as the No. 71 overall prospect in his class. Before choosing Florida State, Hilson took official visits to Florida, Texas, and UCF in the spring. While Hilson is expected to draw plenty of interest, the Longhorns seem to be at the top of his list. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound defender is expected to visit Austin in the coming weeks, according to Rivals John Garcia.

During his high school career, Hilson has been a human highlight reel. As a junior, he recorded 97 total tackles and 14 sacks while leading the Tigers to a second consecutive Class 2S title. Due to his play, Hilson is ranked as the 11th-ranked prospect from Florida in the 2025 class.

If the Longhorns can land Hilson, they would be adding another potential star to their defense. Over the weekend, Myron Charles joined Texas after he decommited from Florida State.

The Longhorns are building something special in Austin, and adding a player like Hilson would make an already top-ten recruiting class even better.

Florida State loses another commitment amidst early season struggles

Florida State not only lost two football games this season, they’ve now lost two key recruits in the 2025 class.

The hits keep coming for the Florida State Seminoles. After losing the first two games of the 2024 season, the ‘Noles have now lost one of their top commits for the 2025 season.

Four-star defensive end Javion Hilson elected to decommit and will now make his final college choice near the December 4th deadline.

Hilson originally committed to the Seminoles on January 12th, after flipping from Alabama. He was the second-ranked player for the Seminoles and was 71st overall in the class. It is now the second departure for Florida State in the 2025 class following Myron Charles, who flipped from Florida State to Texas.

The Seminoles planned to use Hilson as one of their top pass rushers right away. At Cocoa High School he had 97 tackles and 14 sacks a season ago. Florida State was ranked 18th in the recent rankings, but with the loss of these two players head coach Mike Norvell’s staff will need to get back on the grind quickly.

Florida State will host Memphis this coming Saturday in an effort to win their first game of the season.

Blue-chip FSU-committed EDGE sets Florida official visit date

The Gators will be the first program to host the top EDGE target in the 2025 cycle.

The list of prep prospects set to make their official visits to the Swamp in the coming months continues to grow for Florida football as Billy Napier and Co. continue to grind away on the recruiting trail.

The Gators added a big name to their visit schedule recently, according to Swamp247. That would be four-star edge defender [autotag]Javion Hilson[/autotag] out of Cocoa (Florida) in the 2025 cycle, who is the top-ranked player in the nation at his position according to 247Sports.

The 6-foot-3.5-inch, 225-pound defender will return to Gainesville for an official visit just in case he has second thoughts on his current commitment with the Florida State Seminoles. Prior to that, he was signed on with the Alabama Crimson Tide, but following Nick Saban’s retirement, he had cold feet on staying in Tuscaloosa and switched to Tallahassee.

Hilson’s visit schedule

Hilson is set to embark on his April tour, with a trip to see the Miami Hurricanes set for April 6 and a return visit to the Tide on April 8 next weekend. The high school junior then heads out to meet with the Colorado Buffaloes on April 27.

As for the edge rusher’s official visit slate, Florida gets first dibs on May 31, followed by Alabama the following weekend and the UCF Knights the weekend after that. FSU wraps the schedule up on June 21 for the final set OV.

Recruiting summary

Hilson is ranked No. 35 overall and No. 1 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 43 and 3, respectively.

Florida hosting 4-star EDGE committed to FSU over weekend

Javion Hilson was interested in Florida before he committed to Alabama and flipped to Florida State. Now he’s returning to Gainesville for another visit.

Cocoa edge defender [autotag]Javion Hilson[/autotag] was one of Florida’s top targets toward the end of 2024, but he committed to Alabama in December and flipped to Florida State.

But the Gators aren’t out of the race for Hilson just yet.

He’ll be in town on Saturday for Florida’s final junior day of the contact period, according to On3. He’ll also stop by Miami over the weekend.

Hilson last visited The Swamp for Florida’s upset win over Tennessee. At the time, he said UF was near the top of his recruitment. Getting some more one-on-one time with Gators head coach Billy Napier could help Florida’s chances immensely, but flipping him is no easy task.

Hilson is a consensus four-star recruit ranked the highest by On3 at No. 37, but even ESPN has him inside its top 100. As a result, Hilson checks in at No. 33 nationally on the On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average of all four major recruiting services. He’s also ranked No. 3 among edge defenders in the class.

List of top Alabama recruits who have decommitted since Nick Saban retired

After Alabama coach Nick Saban announced his retirement, football recruits began decommitmenting from the Crimson Tide. See the list here.

Longtime Alabama head coach Nick Saban’s retirement sent a shock wave around college football as the sport lost not only a legend but one of the greatest coaches of all time. A key part of game planning, program strategy, and recruitment, Saban touched all elements of arguably the top program of modern college football.

With his exit, many top high school football recruits who chose Alabama are now reconsidering their decision. Five-star prospects including Ryan Williams, Jaime Ffrench and Zion Grady are among those who have announced intentions to re-evaluate the college football market and have conversations with other teams they previously passed on in favor of Alabama and Saban.

Take a look at the list of former Alabama commits back on the market. All rankings are according to the 247Sports Composite:

Florida State flips four-star EDGE Javion Hilson from Alabama

No. 2 EDGE in 2025 recruiting cycle flips commitment from Alabama to Florida State

Nick Saban’s surprise retirement continues to take a toll on [autotag]Kalen DeBoer[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide on the recruiting trail. There was always going to be some fallout on the roster when Saban left, just a bummer to see some of it play out. However, National Signing Day is not until Feb. 7, so DeBoer and company will have plenty of time to get back out on the recruiting trail and do their work.

The unfortunate news in Tuscaloosa today comes as Florida State flipped four-star EDGE Javion Hilson from the Tide. Hilson is viewed as the No. 37 ranked player in the 2025 class and the No. 2 edge in his cycle. The Seminoles have been red hot in the transfer portal and landed former Alabama RB Roydell Williams earlier in the week.

On a more positive note, five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams was back in Tuscaloosa last night on a surprise visit. It also sounds like Safety Caleb Downs may be nearing a decision on where he will spend the last two years of his collegiate career, but there is a sense of optimism around Tuscaloosa for both Downs and Williams.

Alabama lands in top 10 for 2025 4-star EDGE Javion Hilson

2025 four-star edge rusher Javion Hilson released his top schools list.

Alabama currently has the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the 2025 recruiting cycle. The coaching staff is continuing to pursue some of the top targets on their recruiting board. One of those top targets is 2025 edge rusher Javion Hilson.

Recently, Hilson listed Alabama as one of 10 finalists to land his commitment. The Florida native made the announcement via X.

During his junior season, Hilson amassed 90 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks.

At 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, Hilson has the speed and physical presence to rush the passer as well as stop the run. He can play multiple techniques along the defensive line.

Alabama will continue to pursue Hilson as his recruitment ensues in the coming months.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Javion Hilson’s recruiting profile.
