Oregon Ducks flip 5-star QB Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele

The Oregon Ducks officially flipped 4-star quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele from the California Golden Bears.

Quarterback recruiting has been nothing short of elite in Eugene over the past few years under Dan Lanning and his coaching staff, and that isn’t changing any time soon.

On Wednesday, the Oregon Ducks officially flipped 4-star quarterback Jaron Keave Sagapolutele from the California Golden Bears, continuing the strong tradition of Hawaiian quarterbacks coming to Eugene.

Sagapolutele is rated as the No. 88 player in the 2025 class and the No. 9 QB. He is also the No. 1 rated player from the state of Hawaii.

Standing at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Sagapolutele has a great build and acts as a dynamic dual-threat player who brings a high ceiling with him to Eugene. He had been committed to Cal since July of this year, and while the Georgia Bulldogs tried to get involved in his recruitment, it was the Ducks who were ultimately able to sway him away from the Golden Bears.

Sagapolutele now joins a top-10 ranked recruiting class in Eugene as one of the keystone offensive members, and the second quarterback in the class alongside Oregon legacy recruit Akili Smith Jr.

He will have a lot of competition for playing time in the future, but he comes ready to compete.

Georgia’s top flip targets in the 2025 recruiting class

Flip targets for Georgia football in the 2025 recruiting class

Early signing day is two weeks away and Georgia has been ramping up their recruiting for their 2025 class. After the flip of former Florida State wide receiver CJ Wiley committing to Georgia earlier this month, the Bulldogs are nowhere near done. Georgia is coming off a huge 31-17 win against No. 12 Tennessee there is a lot of momentum for UGA on the recruiting trail.

Who are Georgia football’s top flip targets in the class of 2025?

Donovan Starr

Four-star cornerback Donovan Starr was in attendance for the Tennessee game this past weekend. The Bulldogs extended an offer late last month.

The Auburn commit is drawing interest from other programs and has recently taken official visits to Alabama and Vanderbilt. The Tennessee game was Starr’s first in-depth experience of a game day at Georgia. Expect the Bulldogs to stay continue recruiting Starr to add to their second-best recruiting class in the nation (UGA is ranked behind Ohio State according to On3).

DJ Pickett

Pickett is the big fish that could turn a lot of heads in the national media. The five-star cornerback is committed to the LSU Tigers and visited UGA for the Tennessee game.

Pickett, who is 6-foot-4, possesses rare size at corner. Oregon, LSU, and Miami are all competing in the number one cornerback sweepstakes as well with Georgia. If Pickett signs with Georgia, then it would be the second year in a row where the No. 1 corner committed to UGA.

Tavion Wallace

Georgia may want add another difference-maker at linebacker and the in-state four-star prospect and Arkansas recruit Tavion Wallace fits the bill. Wallace has been to Athens three times including his official visit which happened in July.

With Wallace being a frequent visitor, there is some real momentum coming from Georgia to lure Wallace away from Arkansas.

KaMario Taylor

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to quarterback recruit KaMario Taylor, who is a four-star prospect ranked across all recruiting services. Taylor is from Noxubee County in Macon, Mississippi, has been committed to Mississippi State since Oct. 2023.

Georgia has been looking to add talent in the quarterback room with Carson Beck likely leaving after this season. Taylor is a dual-threat quarterback that possesses mobility that has not been in the quarterback room since Justin Fields.

Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele

Sagapolutele is another quarterback prospect that Georgia wants to come into the room and compete. The Bulldogs recently offered a scholarship in October to four-star California Bears quarterback commitment Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele.

Sagapolutele is a recent riser in the On3 rankings to five-star status. He is scheduled to come to the UMass game this Saturday. Although he is committed to Cal, Oregon and Georgia are emerging as strong contenders to persuade Sagapolutele to come on their campuses this winter as.an early enrollee.

Georgia offers Cal QB commit Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele

The Georgia Bulldogs have entered the mix late for one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2025

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to four-star California Bears quarterback commitment Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele.

Sagapolutele plays high school football for James Campbell High School in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. The talented passer has been committed to Cal since July 2024. He is easily the Bears’ top ranked recruit.

Sagapolutele is ranked as the top recruit in Hawaii in the class of 2025. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound quarterback is the eighth-ranked player at his position in the 2025 cycle. The James Campbell standout is the No. 108 recruit in the nation, per 247Sports.

“All glory to God. I have just been offered by the University of Georgia,” said Sagapolutele via social media on Oct. 21.

Head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia have the No. 3 recruiting class in the country. The Bulldogs have 23 total commitments including a recent commitment from five-star pass rusher Elijah Griffin.

UGA currently has a commitment from four-star quarterback recruit Ryan Montgomery, who has missed most of his senior season with an injury. The Bulldogs recently lost a key quarterback commitment in 2026 with five-star Jared Curtis.

Georgia is seeking a replacement plan for quarterback Carson Beck, who is expected to enter the 2025 NFL draft.

Hawaii’s top 2025 recruit QB Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele commits to Cal

It’s a big recruiting win for the Golden Bears as the program kicks off its move to the ACC.

Three-star quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele is headed to Berkeley, California, where he’ll look to continue the strong tradition of Cal Golden Bears QBs throughout the school’s history, from Joe Kapp to Steve Bartkowski to Craig Morton to Aaron Rodgers and Jared Goff.

The top-ranked class of ‘2025 recruit in Hawaii, Sagapolutele chose the Cal over Utah State, Oregon State and Boise State.

He made the official announcement via X.

It’s a significant recruiting win for the Golden Bears and head coach Justin Wilcox, who leads the program into its first season in the new-look ACC. And helps rebound from the decommitment of Hughson (Calif.) three-star quarterback Robert McDaniel last week.

And the 6-foot-3 lefty has plenty of room to grow, which only adds to the overall intrigue by the nod to the Bay Area.

While he’s currently listed as a three-star QB, his arm talent has been turning heads all summer, including at the Elite 11 Finals, and it wouldn’t be a shock if Sagapolutele moves up the ladder as the 2024 season kicks off.

Overall, the progression into 2025 makes the James Campbell (Ewa Beach, Hawaii) slinger one to keep an eye on.
