Former MSU RB Jaren Mangham will be suiting up for another Big Ten squad next year

Former Michigan State running back Jaren Mangham will be suiting up for another Big Ten squad next year.

Mangham committed to Minnesota on Tuesday evening, according to Ryan Burns of 247Sports. Mangham will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Mangham played one season at Michigan State after transferring from USF. Mangham played in six games in his single season as a Spartan and rushed for 81 yards on 30 attempts.

Michigan State football RB Jaren Mangham enters NCAA transfer portal

When Michigan State football added transfer running back Kay-Ron Lynch-Adams from UMass, it seemed like the writing was on the wall for running back Jaren Mangham. While some hoped that Mangham may stay in town to be close to his brother, Jared, he entered the transfer portal on Tuesday to look for other opportunities to earn more rushes.

Mangham had 30 carries for 81 yards last year.

Michigan State football got some good news on Tuesday, when veteran running back Jaren Mangham announced he will come back for one more season with the Spartans.

Mangham, the brother of safety Jaden Mangham, transferred to MSU from South Florida last year. He started his career in Colorado.

Fall camp is moving along for Michigan State football, with a lot of questions for the Spartans coaching staff to answer. Notably, one of the biggest questions is how the running back situation will play out.

The Spartans have several suitors vying for touches in the running back room, including UConn transfer Nate Carter, USF transfer Jaren Mangham and veterans Jalen Berger and Jordon Simmons.

MSU’s running backs coach Effrem Reed followed OC Jay Johnson to the podium on Monday, specifically discussing the running backs room.

Michigan State football lands RB transfer Jaren Mangham

BREAKING: Michigan State lands running back transfer Jaren Mangham – brother of DB Jaden Mangham

Michigan State has made another move in the transfer portal, adding running back transfer Jaren Mangham, the brother of MSU safety Jaden Mangham.

Mangham will join Michigan State after spending the first four years of his career at Colorado and USF. Mel Tucker coached Mangham during his lone season at Colorado.

In two years at Colorado, Mangham played in 15 games racking up 130 carries for 476 yards and 5 touchdowns. In his two seasons at USF, he had 184 attempts for 775 yards and 18 touchdowns in 16 games. His 2022 season at USF was cut short after four games due to injury.

Mangham is a Detroit native who played his high school football at Cass Tech.
