The transfer portal is seeing a record number of players entering to look for new homes around college football.

Michigan State is no exception, and it will see its fair share of attrition within the roster. On the flip side, the Spartans are looking to bring in a large number of transfers to enhance the roster and fill holes left through graduation, transfers and other departures.

Former Michigan State DL Jalen Hunt transferring to Houston

After three seasons with Michigan State football, former 3-star defensive lineman Jalen Hunt decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal back in December. On Monday, he announced that he has found his new home and will be transferring to Houston to play for the Cougars.

Hunt recorded 17 tackles in his three years for the Spartans.

A pair of Michigan State defensive linemen have entered the transfer portal

A pair of Michigan State defensive linemen have entered the transfer portal.

Jalen Hunt and Dashaun Mallory have both entered the transfer portal and intend to leave Michigan State. The news came out around 9 a.m. ET on Monday, with Matt Wenzel of MLive reporting that Michigan State confirmed the news.

Mallory appeared in eight games this year for the Spartans, recording 16 tackles, 0.5 sacks and two fumbles recovered. He recorded 43 total tackles and 2.5 sacks in his 19 career games as a Spartan.

Mallory was a three-star prospect in the 2018 class out of Bolingbrook, Ill.

Hunt was a three-star prospect in the 2019 class out of Belleville, Mich. He appeared in seven games this year and recorded nine tackles. In his career at Michigan State, he finished with 17 tackles and two sacks across 14 games.
