One quarterback for the Vikings for every round of the 2023 NFL draft

The Minnesota Vikings need a quarterback of the future and they will have five picks to take one in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Minnesota Vikings need a quarterback of the future more than any other position. How they go about seelcting that player will show a lot about what the Vikings want to do.

There is a chance that the Vikings prioritize Kirk Cousins as their future at the position. If they do, a quarterback isn’t likely to be taken this year.

If they choose to take a quarterback of the future in April’s draft, they could do so at any time. Here are some quarterbacks that the Bears could target in each round.

Rams 2023 Draft Prospect Profile: Jaren Hall (QB, BYU)

Jaren Hall could be someone the Rams express interest in if they elect to take a QB in the 2023 NFL draft.

Having a reliable backup quarterback in the NFL is invaluable and finding the right player can be tough. The Los Angeles Rams have deployed a few different backup quarterbacks in recent years, with none of them bringing much stability to the position.

Matthew Stafford will be starting for the Rams again in 2023, but John Wolford is a restricted free agent and Baker Mayfield is an unrestricted free agent this offseason. With Stafford turning 35 years old last month and having injury concerns, the Rams would be wise to address the backup spot ahead of next season.

The 2023 NFL draft is a source for the Rams to take a quarterback in hopes they can be a backup and/or develop into the future starter. After putting together a draft prospect profile on Hendon Hooker out of Tennessee, the next profile will be on Jaren Hall out of BYU.

Daniel Jeremiah sees Hendon Hooker, Jaren Hall as potential QB fits for Rams

Daniel Jeremiah spoke about the Rams’ current backup QB situation and listed two players as potential options in the 2023 NFL draft.

Matthew Stafford will be returning as the starting quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams in 2023, but it’s become apparent that they need to find a serviceable backup this offseason. With the draft taking place in the next couple of months, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah discussed the current backup quarterback situation for the Rams and mentioned Hendon Hooker as an option.

“I really like Hendon Hooker,” Jeremiah said on a conference call. “I think he is a good player. I think he can do everything that Sean McVay wants to do. I think you start with accuracy and decision-making. He can move around, so you are going to be able to use all that stretch boot. He is going to be very comfortable doing that. He can think the game really well.”

Hooker was firmly in the Heisman race during the 2022 season before he suffered a torn ACL late in the season for Tennessee. The dynamic quarterback finished with 3,135 passing yards, 27 passing touchdowns, and two interceptions.

In his two seasons at Tennessee after transferring from Virginia Tech, Hooker combined for 58 passing touchdowns and only five interceptions. He also accrued 1,046 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns in his two years with the Volunteers.

Besides the knee injury, Hooker will be an older rookie at 25 years old. Some teams may view his experience and age as a positive, while other teams could avoid him entirely because of it.

Another quarterback Jeremiah mentioned was Jaren Hall from BYU.

“You look at other guys that can kind of — it would be maybe a little bit later on,” Jeremiah added. “To me would probably be somebody like a Jaren Hall that would be — I think he will probably end up going in the fourth or fifth round. Good athlete. Can move. Can really drive the ball. He has some things he can work on with his footwork.”

The Rams certainly need to address the backup quarterback spot behind Stafford this offseason. And if the Rams elect to add a signal-caller in the 2023 NFL draft, Jeremiah believes Hooker would be a fantastic fit in Sean McVay’s offense.

A quarterback prospect for the Saints in every round of the 2023 NFL draft:

There isn’t a bigger offseason priority for the New Orleans Saints than finding their next quarterback, and the 2023 NFL draft has options. They’ll have opportunities to look for a starter in the early rounds and developmental backups in the middle of the draft, and there are some prospects worth considering in the event’s final rounds.

If you don’t have a quarterback, you should keep drafting them until you get one. Keep swinging at the plate until you make contact and hit a home run. Here’s a quick look at some of the passers projected to go in each of the 2023 draft’s seven rounds:

Vikings 2023 7 Round Mock Draft: Matt Anderson’s 2.0

In his latest Mock Draft for the Minnesota Vikings, @MattAnderson_8 has the Vikings taking a trade-back approach

When it comes to the NFL offseason, it can often be more fun than the regular season as there is so much speculation and rumors floating around. The other great part of the offseason is the mock drafts and seeing which players your favorite team might end up with.

In my last mock draft, I had the Vikings taking the best player available with all of their picks. Today, I am going to take a page out of former general manager Rick Speilman’s book and trade back using Rich Hill’s trade chart to see if we can’t get more players or draft capital. Let’s take a look to see how it played out.

Senior Bowl notebook: Day 1 observations and first impressions

The weather could not have been nicer for Tuesday’s Senior Bowl practice sessions here in Mobile, Alabama. It was a picture-perfect day to fire up the practices for the 2023 edition of the prestigious all-star game and unofficial NFL draft mecca.

My focus on the first day was on the periphery of the formation, the offensive skill position players and the secondary and linebackers on defense.

Here are a few of the takeaways from the practices of the American and National teams out at the University of South Alabama stadium.
