Pat Surtain thinks Pro Bowl has changed for the better

The NFL’s Pro Bowl format “has changed for the better,” Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain said ahead of the flag football game.

As Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain prepares for his third straight Pro Bowl appearance, he reflected on how pro football’s all-star affair has changed for the better.

“Yeah, I’m looking forward to it,” Surtain said in an interview promoting Tide evo with Broncos Wire’s Brandon Walker. “I think the flag football adds a little bit more fun to it, as they got their own set of rules to it. (It) allows the fans to be involved as well too, and I just think the whole platform and the whole environment of the Pro Bowl has changed for the better, so obviously a cool experience.”

Surtain spoke with Broncos Wire to promote Tide evo, which is currently only available in Colorado. The cornerback proved to be a perfect spokesperson for the laundry detergent.

“We just started this promotion, and we are promoting this new product called Tide evo detergent … and all you gotta do is dump it in the washer and watch as it cleans up your clothes and the magic happens,” Surtain said. “It’s as simple as that.”

The company says the new product is a type of Tide that is a category of clean that leverages tens of thousands of minuscule fibers, creating layers of soap without unnecessary liquid and fillers.

“It’s only selling in Colorado right now, and we’re trying to promote this product to branch it out all over the place, so it’s a good product to use,” Surtain said. “It’s a very good product and you can use it whenever. I’ll just say to all my Colorado folks out here to go ahead and get you some Tide evo. It’s as simple as that for your use, and is a good product to use for sure.”

The 2025 Pro Bowl marks just the third year where flag football has been the focus for the NFL’s all-star game. Peyton Manning and Eli Manning will coach the AFC and NFC teams, respectively.

Since this is the NFL’s star-studded, all-star affair, Surtain also spoke about some of the best wide receivers in the game today.

“It’s a good amount of them,” Surtain said. “I say (Bengals wide receiver) Ja’Marr (Chase); he had a good year, obviously (with the) triple crown. You know you got guys like (Vikings receiver) Justin Jefferson, of course (Dolphins receiver) Tyreek Hill, who’s done it consistently, and CeeDee Lamb, I think those guys have done it; Davante Adams. Those are the guys that I would consider the top of the game right now.”

Surtain will be joined by Broncos returner Marvin Mims and pass rusher Nik Bonitto at the Pro Bowl Games this year. The Pro Bowl’s skills challenges and flag football game will be televised from 3-6 p.m. ET (1-4 p.m. MT) on ESPN and ABC on Sunday, Feb. 2.

Former Alabama WR Jermaine Burton drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals

Former Alabama wide receiver Jermaine Burton selected by the Cincinnati Bengals

Former Alabama wide receiver Jermaine Burton has been selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft with the 80th pick. He joins a talented young offense headlined by a pair of former LSU Tigers, Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase.

In the 2023 season, he totaled 798 yards and eight touchdowns on 39 receptions. Burton has the ability to get open deep and create big plays in the passing game.

Burton is one of the more underappreciated prospects in the 2024 draft class and will be a solid weapon for Burrow and the Bengals which should have one of the top offenses in the NFL this season.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Burton as he begins his professional career in the 2024 NFL season.

Instant analysis: Bills disappoint in Divisional loss to Bengals

Instant analysis: #Bills disappoint in Divisional loss to #Bengals (via @jdiloro):

The Buffalo Bills fell to the Cincinnati Bengals 27-10 in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Watching, it felt even worse.

The Bills entered the game with a perceived advantage in the trenches. The Bengals were starting three reserve offensive linemen. The Bills, for their part, were without defensive tackle Da’Quan Jones, due to a calf injury.

Cincinnati’s offensive line dominated at the point of attack. Buffalo’s defensive line could not get any sustained pressure on Bengals QB Joe Burrow.

In addition, the Bengals had little problem getting the run game moving along. Joe Mixon ran for 105 yards and had one touchdown. Mixon consistently gained extra yards after contact.

Last week, the Bengals gave up four sacks to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card matchup. The Bills could only muster one sack.

Buffalo allowed points on five of eight drives to Cincinnati. One of the three “successful” defensive stands ended with the conclusion of the first half, while another ended with a punt during garbage time.

Burrow stood in the pocket and picked apart the Buffalo defense for 242 yards on 23 of 36 passing day. Wideout Jamar Chase was heavily involved as expected, catching five passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Tight end Hayden Hurst was also a matchup problem for the Bills, catching five passes for 59 yards and a touchdown. Burrow’s backfield helped him out too, as receiver Samaje Perine caught five passes for 31 yards.

Buffalo’s offense, which had been explosive all year, was inconsistent throughout the game. Buffalo’s scoring drives were long, one of 15 plays and another of 14 plays.

On the flip side, the Bills went three-and-out three times. Buffalo punted four times in the game. They also gave up the ball on an unsuccessful fourth down attempt.

Buffalo’s offense struggled to get started, failing to register a first down in the first quarter.

The expectation that Bills quarterback Josh Allen could play Superman and will the team to victory was not enough. Allen completed 25 passes on 42 attempts for 264 yards. Allen rushed eight times for 26 yards and a touchdown.

The Bills receivers struggled to create separation all game. The Bengals’ game plan limited Buffalo’s receivers from getting upfield.

Ultimately, the Bills had to settle for several intermediate options instead of pushing the ball the down the field.

The Bills offensive line was on their heels all game long. The unit struggled in pass protection and failed to create lanes in the run game. Buffalo’s running backs carried the ball only 10 times for 32 yards.

Buffalo’s playcalling left a great deal to be desired as well.

The Bills struggled to adjust to anything that the Bengals threw at them. On offense, the play-calling played into the hands of Cincy. When Allen had time to throw, he had limited options.

Defensively, the group did not match an undermanned Cincinnati offensive line. Burrow had an easy afternoon moving the ball down the field.

It was a disappointing end to the Bills season. Buffalo was outperformed in all aspects of the game.

The Bills start their offseason plans while the Bengals travel to Kansas City for the AFC Championship game next week.

Twitter reacts: Tee Higgins shines on Thursday Night Football

Here’s a look at how social media reacted to Tee Higgins big performance on Thursday night.

Former Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins had another strong performance for the Cincinnati Bengals, helping lift the team to a 27-15 win over the then-undefeated Miami Dolphins.

As many know, the Bengals have one of the absolute best wide receiver rooms in the NFL, if not the best. A group headlined by Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, Cincinnati starting quarterback Joe Burrow has many options to utilize in this offense.

Heading into this season, while Higgins got a lot of well-deserved hype, his counterpart, Chase, was getting most of the love. They may be a 1A, 1B pairing, but many people didn’t see things that way after Chase’s breakout rookie season. More often than not, Chase will be considered the alpha of this group.

Another massive performance out of Higgins this Thursday might have people thinking differently, however. Higgins had a field day, routinely lined up against the Miami Dolphins’ top cornerback in Xavien Howard.

The third-year wideout secured seven catches for 124 yards and a touchdown, pacing the team with nine targets in the game. Higgins led the team in all four categories to go along with a beautiful 59-yard catch and run for six on Howard en route to a win.

It was an excellent performance out Higgins.

Here’s a look at how Twitter reacted to Higgins’ big Thursday night:

Broncos vs. Bengals: Game preview and score prediction

Bengals WR Jamar Chase vs. Broncos CB Pat Surtain willl be an intriguing matchup to watch this week.

The Denver Broncos (7-6) will host the Cincinnati Bengals (7-6) in Week 15 of the 2021 NFL season in a game with big playoff implications in the AFC. Here’s our quick preview for the game.

Bengals’ keys to victory: Denver has a talented secondary, but its run defense has struggled at times this season, so Cincinnati will be expected to run early and often on Sunday. Bengals RB Joe Mixon has already scored a career-high 14 touchdowns this season and he’s on pace to post his best single-season yardage total as well. Cincy’s not a one-trick pony, though, as QB Joe Burrow has taken a big step forward this season and he’s been spreading the ball around to WRs Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd, who form one of the better WR trios in the league. The Bengals’ balanced offense should be able to out-pace the Broncos’ own offense despite playing on the road.

Broncos’ keys to victory: Denver can’t afford to fall behind early because Cincy is built to rush the passer, with DL Trey Hendrickson leading the way. If the Broncos get in a hole and have to pass to catch up, QB Teddy Bridgewater‘s conservative, short-passing style won’t be well-suited to lead a comeback. Denver will have to keep things close so the offense can lean on its productive rushing attack that’s led by RBs Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams, who have been the Broncos’ most important weapons in recent weeks.

Matchup to watch: Bengals WR Jamar Chase vs. Broncos CB Pat Surtain. Surtain probably won’t line up on Chase every play, but the rookies will likely face off several times on Sunday. The last time these two met in college, Chase caught six passes for 140 yards and a touchdown in LSU’s 46-41 win over Alabama in 2019.

Who wins? Both these teams are desperate for a win to stay alive in the AFC’s Wild Card race. The Broncos’ formidable defense might be able to slow down the Bengals’ explosive offense, but Denver’s own offense could struggle to score. Bengals 22, Broncos 16.
