Watch: Lions RB Jamaal Williams greets former Packers teammates at Ford Field

Former Packers RB Jamaal Williams was ready to hand out love for his former teammates during pre-game warmups at Ford Field.

Few members of the locker room in Green Bay were more well-liked between 2017 and 2020 than running back Jamaal Williams, who signed a new deal to join the Detroit Lions this past offseason.

The love between Williams and the Packers is still strong.

During pre-game warmups on Sunday, Williams greeted all his former teammates as they came out of the tunnel at Ford Field.

Dave Schroeder of WBAY captured the scene as Williams gave hugs and high-fives to Packers players, including Aaron Rodgers:

Williams, a fourth-round pick of the Packers in 2020, played 60 games in Green Bay. He gained 2,946 total yards and scored 18 total touchdowns with the Packers.

The Packers official Twitter account had another look at the pre-game greetings:

Williams has rushed for 558 yards and three touchdowns for the Lions this season.

The Packers and Lions are finishing up the 2021 regular season on Sunday at Ford Field. Kick off is at noon.

Jared Goff placed on reserve/COVID-19 list among several Lions roster moves

The Detroit Lions made several roster moves, including QB Jared Goff going on reserve/COVID-19 list and LB Alex Anzalone on IR, with RB Jamaal Williams coming back too

The good buzz around the Lions huge win over the Arizona Cardinals barely lasted 24 hours. Monday’s roster move announcement from Detroit was a downer.

Starting quarterback Jared Goff has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Goff is coming off a great game against the Cardinals, throwing three touchdowns and showing toughness and leadership. Reserve offensive tackle Matt Nelson joins Goff on the COVID list.

With the new NFL guidelines for COVID-19 testing, Goff and Nelson can return if they are asymptomatic and vaccinated after just one negative test.

In addition to those moves, starting LB Alex Anzalone is now on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. With just three games left on the schedule, Anzalone’s first season in Detroit is effectively over.

Not all of the news was negative. The Lions did activate RB Jamaal Williams and CB Mark Gilbert from the reserve/COVID-19 list. Both will be ready for practice on Wednesday after clearing the necessary protocols.

The team also made the signing of RB Craig Reynolds official.

Lions coach Dan Campbell thinks it’s ‘highly unlikely’ any players return from reserve/COVID-19 list for Week 15

The Lions still have nine players on the reserve/COVID-19 list and coach Campbell doesn’t see any of them being activated in time for Sunday’s game with the Cardinals

The NFL changed the protocols for players to return to action from the reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday. But Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell doesn’t see the tweak helping his team in Week 15.

Detroit currently has nine players on the reserve/COVID-19 list after center Evan Brown returned to action this week. Despite the need for only one negative test to return instead of the prior two required for vaccinated and asymptomatic players, Campbell was pessimistic any of the nine will be ready for Sunday’s visit from the Arizona Cardinals.

“I think that it’s highly unlikely for us for that to happen,” Campbell told reporters on Friday when asked if anyone would be activated in time. “I know we felt like talking about it last night, but some of the things that have come into play I don’t think will help us. Now, who knows? Maybe we get lucky, but it doesn’t – I don’t think it bodes well for us right now.”

It’s a tough blow for the Lions. Two key starters, S Tracy Walker and RB Jamaal Williams, are among the nine on the list. The other seven are all defensive backs:

Bobby Price
Ifeatu Melifonwu
Mark Gilbert
Nickell Robey-Coleman
Jalen Elliott
Tavante Beckett
Corey Ballentine

Detroit claimed S Brady Breeze and CB Saivion Smith off waivers this week to help fill in for all the defensive backs not cleared to play.

Lions place Jamaal Williams and Tracy Walker on Reserve/COVID-19

Lions place Jamaal Williams and Tracy Walker on Reserve/COVID-19

In what already has been a brutal week for the Detroit Lions, two starters are now on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Running back Jamaal Williams and Safety Tracy Walker both will have to sit out of this Sunday’s game versus the Denver Broncos. It is unclear at this time whether they themselves tested positive for COVID-19 or if they were just in close contact with someone who did test positive.

On top of a lengthy 23-player injury report, the Lions have already had to place two other players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list: starting center Evan Brown and reserve defensive back Bobby Price. With very little healthy depth left, this news involving Walker and Williams is even more devastating.

At running back, starter D’Andre Swift has already been ruled out. With no Williams either, the Lions will have to rely heavily on rookie Jermar Jefferson and safety-turned-tailback Godwin Igwebuike. Luckily, this duo has done a lot with the little amount of snaps they’ve received. The team also still has the option to elevate preseason star Craig Reynolds for extra depth.

At safety, Detroit’s options are much more bleak. Dean Marlowe will be the starting strong safety while Will Harris, who also plays strong safety, will be starting as a nickel cornerback.

As of now, the Lions have special teams ace C.J. Moore and the inexperienced second-year Bobby Price on the active roster. On the practice squad, they currently don’t have a safety rostered.

Jamaal Williams is the Lions nominee for NFL’s sportsmanship award

Detroit RB Jamaal Williams is the Lions nominee for NFL’s Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award in 2021

Running back Jamaal Williams is one of the most fan-friendly players in the entire NFL. The Lions RB has an effervescent personality and ever-present smile, even during the game.

Williams keeps the game fun for everyone. And his attitude gets noticed. Williams is the Detroit Lions nominee for the NFL’s Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award for 2021. The NFL revealed the nominees from all 32 franchises on Thursday.

Each NFL team nominated one of its own players for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. The honor recognizes players around the league who exemplify outstanding sportsmanship on the field.

Center Frank Ragnow was Detroit’s nominee last season. No Lions player has ever won the award.

9 sleepers in fantasy football for Week 13

Before setting your lineups, check out our 9 sleepers in fantasy football for Week 13!

The playoffs are just about here and fantasy football managers are focusing all of their energy on either making the playoffs or spoiling it for those who are. That’s where the sleepers come in.

Finding sleepers on a weekly basis is one of the most important and one of the most difficult aspects of fantasy football. Having that extra player go off in your starting lineup along with your studs is one of the best feelings in the world. One might even say it rivals the feeling of when the biggest guy in the gym calls you “big man.” It’s the ultimate serotonin booster.

In order to qualify as a sleeper, we will be using the expert consensus rankings (ECR) from FantasyPros. We’ll be taking a look at players ranked outside of the top-12 for quarterbacks and running backs, the top-24 for wide receivers and the top-10 for tight ends (adjusted for the utterly barren landscape).

Let’s take a quick look at nine sleepers in fantasy football for Week 13:

Prince’s Props: Tom Brady, Tyreek Hill and more NFL Week 13 player prop bets

Our best props for Week 13.

Five weeks since my last set of prop picks and I can’t tell you how good it feels to be back. In Week 8, I made a little progress from the previous week and was looking forward to building on that momentum … but then my baby boy was born and well, nothing was more important than that. Welcome to the world, Sehvyn Grimes!

But now, after a few weeks off, I’m back in the saddle with my favorite player prop picks from the Week 13 NFL schedule that kicks off at 1PM ET on Sunday.

Week 8: 3-3 record (Season: 5-7)

All odds are provided Tipico.

11 waiver wire targets for fantasy football in Week 13

It’s a big week for the waiver wire in fantasy football. Take a look at these 11 targets!

Now that the Thanksgiving week has passed, fantasy football managers are focused on two things: Making the playoffs or ruining it for the other league mates. This is where the waiver wire comes in handy.

At this point, many of you are already out of the running. That doesn’t mean we can’t wreak havoc and cause chaos within reason, of course. Just because you may be out of the playoff picture doesn’t mean you stop making moves. So if you’re sitting here wondering if you should pick up the backup to an injured starting running back, the answer is an emphatic yes.

Most trade deadlines have passed, which makes the waiver wire even more important. We have four teams on a bye this week in the Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers, Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns. A lot of news went down over the weekend so there are more options available on the waiver wire.

If you have any questions about prioritizing a certain player over another, don’t be afraid to hit me up on Twitter (@KevinHickey11). Your questions and comments are always welcome!

Here are 11 players to target on the waiver wire for fantasy football in Week 13:

Lions injury report: Jared Goff, Taylor Decker both miss practice

Tim Boyle continues to take the first-team reps at QB in case Goff cannot play against the Browns on Sunday

Thursday’s injury report from Detroit Lions headquarters in Allen Park is not a positive one. Starting left tackle Taylor Decker was among four Lions who did not participate in the practice session.

Decker sat out for undisclosed reasons. He has played just one game this year, looking pretty good in his Week 10 return from a nasty finger injury that required multiple pins to be inserted.

Joining Decker on the sidelines for Thursday’s practice were starting QB Jared Goff (oblique), starting OLB Trey Flowers (knee) and rookie RB Jermar Jefferson (knee). CB Mark Gilbert was out with an illness.

In better news, reserve OT Matt Nelson was back after missing Wednesday’s session with an ankle injury that forced him out of Sunday’s tie with the Steelers. Nelson played 18 snaps as an extra offensive tackle and did quite well.

Other Lions who were listed with limited status:

  • RB D’Andre Swift
  • S Tracy Walker
  • RB Jamaal Williams

Two players were full participants but still listed with injuries: CB Jerry Jacobs and OLB Austin Bryant.

Lions inactives for Week 10 include new WR Josh Reynolds

Reynolds won’t make his Lions debut for another week.

Detroit Lions fans will have to wait a little longer before watching Josh Reynolds in the Honolulu blue and silver. The new wide receiver is among the inactive players for the Week 10 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Reynolds was claimed off waivers this week and practiced for a couple of days, but he didn’t absorb enough of the offense in his crash course to earn the immediate trust of head coach Dan Campbell. He joins injured RB Jamaal Williams as offensive players who will not suit up against Pittsburgh.

On defense, DE Kevin Strong will also wait another week. Strong was activated off IR over the bye week but remains inactive. OLBs Jessie Lemonier and Austin Bryant are also inactive on the defense.
