Auburn safety target Zaquan Patterson announces commitment

The Tigers missed out on the elite safety Saturday.

Four-star safety [autotag]Zaquan Patterson[/autotag] was one of Auburn’s top remaining targets but they were unable to pull him out of the Sunshine State, as he opted to stay home and play for the Miami Hurricanes.

Patterson emerged as an Auburn target back on March 17 when they extended an offer to the 6-foot, 180-pounder. He moved up the board when Auburn missed on five-star [autotag]KJ Bolden[/autotag], who picked Florida State over Auburn.

Patterson is the No. 77 overall player and No. 3 safety in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 10 player from Florida.

While missing on Patterson stings, Auburn has already built an impressive defensive backroom, landing four-star safety [autotag]Kensley Faustin[/autotag] and four-star cornerbacks [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag], [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] and [autotag]Jalyn Crawford[/autotag].

While it will be an uphill battle to land Patterson, it is not over. He has stated publically that he plans to take multiple visits during the season and that his recruitment is open. In fact, the only reason he is committing now is that his high school, Chaminade Madonna, requires its seniors to be committed before the start of the season.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and Auburn have shown the ability to flip elite recruits and Patterson will be a player to keep an eye on, especially if they can get him back on campus.

Social media reacts to Auburn landing 4-star CB Jalewis Solomon

Hugh Freeze and Auburn are red-hot right now.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and the Auburn Tigers stayed hot on the recruiting trail Saturday, landing a commitment from four-star cornerback [autotag]Jalewis Solomon[/autotag].

Solomon is the younger brother of Auburn defensive lineman [autotag]Zykevious Walker[/autotag] and picked the Tigers over South Carolina, Florida State, Texas A&M and Kentucky.

He is the fourth blue-chip recruit Auburn has added in the past 10 days, giving them 15 total commitments and the No. 16 ranked class in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Solomon joins a loaded secondary class that includes four-star cornerbacks [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag], [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag], [autotag]Jalyn Crawford[/autotag] and safety [autotag]Kensley Faustin[/autotag].

His addition fired up the Auburn fanbase which took to social media to celebrate, here are their top reactions.

Auburn cornerback target trending towards SEC rival ahead of his commitment

Jalewis Solomon will be making his commitment on Saturday and it’s down to Auburn, South Carolina, Florida State, Texas A&M and Kentucky.

Secondary coaches [autotag]Zac Etheridge[/autotag] and [autotag]Wesley McGriff[/autotag] have assembled an impressive cornerback class, landing four-star targets [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag], [autotag]Jalyn Crawford[/autotag] and [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag] but they are not done yet.

The top remaining target is four-star [autotag]Jalewis Solomon[/autotag] and he is set to make his commitment at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday,  Aug. 5. While he has a top five of Auburn, South Carolina, Florida State, Kentucky and Texas A&M, he admitted after Big Cat Weekend that Auburn and South Caroline were the two schools he was “focused on.”

The Ellaville, Georgia product was able to check out both programs last weekend and while he said his trip to Auburn “went great,” it’s the Gamecocks that are trending for him.

They have received three crystal ball predictions to land him, including one from Steve Wiltfong, the director of football recruiting for 247Sports.

Solomon is the No. 230 overall player and No. 19 athlete in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 30 player from Georgia.

While losing out on Solomon would hurt, the Tigers and Ohio State are the only two programs to have commitments from three four-star cornerbacks in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Auburn target Jalewis Solomon is focused on two schools ahead of his commitment

He is set to announce his commitment on Aug. 5th.

Auburn has plenty of momentum on the recruiting trail and looks to keep it going when four-star cornerback [autotag]Jalewis Solomon[/autotag] makes his commitment on Saturday, Aug. 5.

He has a top five of Auburn, South Carolina, Florida State, Texas A&M and Kentucky but admitted over the weekend that two schools are standing out to AuburnUndercover’s Christian Clemente.

“South Carolina and Auburn are probably the top two schools right now,” Solomon said. “Those are the top two schools I’m probably just focused on, I’m not going to lie. It’ll probably come down to those two schools. Both have an eagerness to win and they’re both on the come up right now, rising up. Like for Auburn, I just saw two commits just flipped and they’re on the rise for sure.”

Solomon visited both programs over the weekend, checking out South Carolina on Friday before heading to Auburn for its Big Cat Weekend on Saturday.

It was his third trip to the Plains this year and it once again went extremely well.

“Man, it went great,” Solomon said. “I loved it, I loved it.”

While plenty can change between now and the early signing period, he would likely be the final piece of Auburn’s impressive cornerback class. Secondary coaches [autotag]Wesley McGriff[/autotag] and [autotag]Zac Etheridge[/autotag] have already landed [autotag]Jalyn Crawford[/autotag], [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] and [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag], who are all four-star prospects.

Solomon is set to announce his decision at 3 p.m. CT on Aug. 5 and is looking for a place where he is comfortable.

“I want to feel where I’m comfortable at, I want to feel love from the team and coaching staff, everybody outside the school,” Solomon said. “I just want to be cool with everybody and have a relationship with everybody. Relationship is like the main thing.”

Key Auburn target KJ Bolden locks in commitment time

It’s down to Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State for the best safety in the country.

[autotag]KJ Bolden[/autotag] is one of the top recruits in the country and Auburn is one of the finalists for the five-star safety. His recruitment is nearing an end as he is set to make his commitment on Aug. 5 at 6:30 p.m. CT on the On3 YouTube Channel.

He will be deciding between Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State. The Bufford, Georiga product has officially visited Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State with one scheduled to Auburn on Oct. 6, which is their bye week. He is also set to be on the Plains for Big Cat Weekend, his last visit before his commitment.

Bolden is the No. 8 overall player and No. 1 safety in the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also the No. 2 player from Georgia.

Bolden is being recruited by [autotag]Zac Etheridge[/autotag] and [autotag]Wesley McGriff[/autotag] who have already teamed up to land four-star cornerbacks [autotag]Jalyn Crawford[/autotag], A’mon LaneJayden Lewis and three-star safety Kensley Faustin. While each one of them was a key target, Bolden would kick Auburn’s class to another level.

Blue-chip cornerback target picks Auburn over Florida on Saturday

Can’t win them all, can you Billy Napier?

Florida football has been riding high on the recruiting wave in recent weeks but Billy Napier and Co. cannot win them all.

On Saturday, the Gators lost out on four-star cornerback [autotag]Jalyn Crawford[/autotag] out of Lilburn (Georgia) Parkview, who announced his commitment to the Auburn Tigers via On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Twitter. The Orange and Blue were among the top three finalists for the coveted Peach State talent, but along with the LSU Tigers, ultimately fell short of earning his pledge.

The 6-foot, 180-pound defender was high on Florida’s defensive backs coach Corey Raymond, telling 247Sports’ Chad Simmons that his track record of developing players and getting them to the NFL stood out to the rising high school senior.

“It’s a lot of good things about Florida but one main thing that stuck out to me was the cornerbacks coach, Coach Corey Raymond,” Crawford offered to Simmons. “All those (defensive backs) he put out of LSU in the league, it’s crazy. Him just wanting me and pushing so hard to get me to eventually push me to the league, that really stood out.”

Crawford is ranked No. 159 overall and No. 16 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 192 and 22, respectively.

4-star LSU cornerback target commits to Auburn

Jalyn Crawford picked Auburn over LSU and Florida.

LSU lost out on the sweepstakes for four-star Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview cornerback [autotag]Jalyn Crawford[/autotag] on Saturday. The four-star picked Auburn over LSU and Florida.

The decision was far from a surprise. AU had long been seen as the favorite here, and the Tigers picked up a spate of Crystal Ball projections from 247Sports in recent days leading up to his commitment.

Crawford is ranked as the No. 159 overall player in the 2024 class on the 247Sports Composite, and he’s the No. 23 prospect in the state of Georgia. LSU still has just three top-200 commits, though the Tigers do have a pair of cornerbacks on board in [autotag]Ondre Evans[/autotag] and [autotag]Wallace Foster[/autotag].

LSU’s 18-man 2024 recruiting class currently ranks 13th nationally, according to 247Sports.

Twitter reacts to Auburn landing coveted CB Jalyn Crawford

Auburn is building an elite cornerback class.

Auburn has landed its 11th commit of the 2024 recruiting class and it is a big one as four-star cornerback [autotag]Jalyn Crawford[/autotag] picked Auburn over Florida and LSU on Saturday.

Crawford, who is from Lilburn, Georgia, announced the news on Twitter with a graphic and a simple caption saying “Im Home!!”

He is the fourth defensive back that secondary coaches [autotag]Wesley McGriff[/autotag] and [autotag]Zac Etheridge[/autotag] have reeled in, joining cornerbacks [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] and [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag] and safety [autotag]Kensley Faustin[/autotag].

Crawford is the highest rated of the bunch, checking in as the No. 159 overall player and No. 16 cornerback in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 23 player from Georgia.

His addition fired up the Auburn fan base which took to Twitter to celebrate, here are the top reactions.

Blue-chip Florida CB target talks top 3 ahead of commitment

Florida is one of three schools still in the race for four-star cornerback Jalyn Crawford, who is committing on Saturday.

It’s down to Florida, Auburn and LSU for four-star Parkview (Lilburn, Georgia) cornerback [autotag]Jalyn Crawford[/autotag].

According to a social media post sent out on Monday, the top-200 recruit is committing on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EDT. Both 247Sports and the On3 recruiting prediction machine consider him a heavy Auburn lean, but Florida has done enough to be called a “top school,” by Crawford in the recent past.

Crawford stopped by all three programs over consecutive weekends in June for official visits. Florida was the opening stop on the trip and LSU got to close things out. He’s only been to Gainesville twice compared to five visits to each of the other schools, according to On3.

The biggest reason Florida still thinks it has a chance is the relationship Crawford is developing with defensive backs coach Corey Raymond. Crawford recently told 247Sports’ Chad Simmons that Raymond’s track record of developing players and getting them to the NFL stood out.

“It’s a lot of good things about Florida but one main thing that stuck out to me was the cornerbacks coach, Coach Corey Raymond,” Crawford said to Simmons. “All those (defensive backs) he put out of LSU in the league, it’s crazy. Him just wanting me and pushing so hard to get me to eventually push me to the league, that really stood out.”

Crawford is a four-star recruit everywhere but On3. The industry ranking, which uses a weighted average of all four major recruiting services, still has him at No. 192 overall and no. 22 among cornerbacks in the class of 2024.

Rivals.com is the most bullish on him at No. 118 nationally and No. 9 at his position.

Auburn CB target Jalyn Crawford locks in commitment date

He will be deciding between Auburn, Florida and LSU.

Four-star cornerback [autotag]Jalyn Crawford[/autotag] will be playing in the SEC next year, it’s just a matter of where. Crawford, one of Auburn’s top targets at corner, and on Monday he announced he is down to Auburn, Florida and LSU and he is ready to commit.

He will be announcing his decision Saturday, July 15 at 2:30 p.m. CT. While he knows the time, he told On3’s Chad Simmons that he doesn’t know who he will pick and that he “can see himself” at each of his finalists.

“I am still thinking it over,” Crawford told Simmons. “I am getting close to my decision and I have an idea, but I am still talking things out with my family and making sure of everything. My decision will be made when I get a little closer to the date.”

Crawford is the No. 193 overall player and No. 22 cornerback in the On3 Industry Ranking. The Lilburn, Georgia product is the No. 26 player from the Peach State.

He has taken official visits to all three of his finalist and has visited Auburn five times in total. After so many visits the Tigers have become the favorite to land him, having a 71% chance according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.

If Auburn can land Crawford he would be their fourth defensive back commit already, joining four-star corners [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] and [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag] and four-star safety [autotag]Kensley Faustin[/autotag].
