17-year-old Ryan Williams scores Alabama touchdown

Ryan Williams is 17 and excelling for Alabama

Ryan Williams is 17 years old. He should be a senior in high school. Rather, he is playing for Alabama and playing quite well.

Against Wisconsin at Camp Randall on Saturday, Williams caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Milroe. After the PAT, ‘Bama led 7-3.

Wisconsin QBs were taking a beating from the ferocious Alabama defense.

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide: Series history, all-time record

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide: Series history, all-time record

Wisconsin (2-0) will host No. 4 Alabama (2-0) at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday for its third game of the 2024 campaign. It will be the third all-time meeting between the two programs and their first matchup since 2015.

The Badgers own a 1-1 record against Alabama, though they dropped their most recent meeting 35-17 in 2015. The two teams squared off in Arlington at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Wisconsin was unable to get the ground game going while quarterback Joel Stave compiled 228 passing yards and two touchdowns while throwing an interception in the game. The Crimson Tide were able to lean on future Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry for 148 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries.

The only other matchup between the two schools came back in 1928 when Wisconsin defeated Alabama 15-0.

Luke Fickell’s squad will likely be challenged downfield in the passing game for the first time this season on Saturday against the Crimson Tide after facing run-heavy opponents Western Michigan and South Dakota in their first two contests of the year.

The Badgers have star power in the secondary with cornerback Ricardo Hallman and safety Hunter Wohler, though it may come down to the surrounding cast’s ability to step up Saturday if the team is going to limit Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and its passing attack.

Alabama announces Players of the Week after 63-0 victory over Western Kentucky

Jalen Milroe one of eight recognized as Players of the Week by Alabama football.

So far, life in the Kalen DeBoer is pretty awesome as the Alabama Crimson Tide knocked off Western Kentucky 63-0 in Week 1. With the legend Nick Saban in attendance, it felt like a cordial passing of the torch.

The offensive headline was QB Jalen Milroe who got his Heisman campaign going early with 279 all-purpose yards and five total touchdowns. Freshman phenom WR Ryan Williams also got in on the party with 84 and 55-yard receiving touchdowns.

We knew that with DeBoer and Milroe teaming up we would see a strong outing from the offensive unit, but it was Kane Wommack’s defense that should give Alabama fans national title hope. S Keon Sabb led the charge early on with two first-quarter interceptions, but it was the relentless pursuit of the front seven that gave the Hilltoppers issues. Aside from being shut out, the WKU offense was only able to muster 145 yards on the day to Alabama’s 600.

Each week gets more difficult from here, but it was about about as good of a coaching debut and season opener as you will ever see for Alabama. Eight players we named as Players of the Week including Milroe as the “Offensive/Skill”, OL Tyler Booker as the “Offensive/Power” and Graham Roten as the “Offense/Scout” and more.

Alabama football opens the Kalen DeBoer era with 63-0 victory over Western Kentucky

Alabama opens 2024 campaign with 63-0 thumping of Western Kentucky.

Life in the Kalen DeBoer era is all fun and games so far as the Alabama Crimson Tide took care of the visiting Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 63-0.

Transfer Safety from the Michigan Wolverines Keon Sabb made an immediate impact with two big first-quarter interceptions to give Jalen Milroe and the Alabama offense positive field position. Milroe was the MVP for the Crimson Tide on the evening as he completed seven of nine passes for 200 yards and three scores. He also carried the ball 10 times for 79 yards and two touchdowns.

True freshman WR Ryan Williams was the big takeaway on the evening with two receptions, both touchdowns of 55 and 84 yards.

The Crimson Tide’s defense was phenomenal all evening long, allowing just 103 yards passing and 42 rushing. The Hilltoppers were also 3/18 on third down. Alabama does have some things to clean up as they were penalized seven times for 59 yards.

Steelers land franchise QB in new 2025 NFL mock draft

This new mock draft has the Steelers opting for one of the highest upside players in the draft.

There’s a real possibility that neither Justin Fields nor Russell Wilson will be on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster in 2025. Both guys are set to hit free agency and it wouldn’t be a shock if the Steelers struggle that they simply let both guys walk in free agency.

If this happens, quarterback immediately becomes the team’s most pressing offseason need. This is the angle The Draft Network took on their new 2025 mock draft.

They have the Steelers selecting Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe. Here’s what they had to say about the pick of Milroe:

Both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are free agents in 2025, and optimism that one of them will improve enough to be a franchise quarterback is low. Jalen Milroe is an uber athlete with sky-high upside, similar to a quarterback Mike Tomlin has coached against for years.

We love Milroe’s upside and he does look like the kind of player who could have a Jayden Daniels type of rise this season. Even if the Steelers bring back Russell Wilson or Justin Fields, we are good with the Steelers being proactive at the quarterback position.

Jalen Milroe named to Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list

The preseason accolades continue to pile up for Milroe.

The 2024 preseason accolades continue to pile up for Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe, as the redshirt junior was named to the watch list for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award on Wednesday.

An annual honor, the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award is presented every season to the most outstanding offensive player in college football, and is an individual accolade that no Alabama player has ever won.

Entering his second season as the starter in Tuscaloosa, Milroe has continued to rack up preseason accolades throughout the past month that includes watch list’s such as the Davey O’Brien, Manning, and Unitas Golden Arm. Along with this, Milroe has also began to garner Heisman Trophy interest as one of the names to watch for in the preseason.

Milroe is coming off a 2023 season in which he held a 65.8 CMP%, throwing for 2,834 yards and a 23:6 TD:INT ratio across 13 games. The signal caller also rushed for a career-high 531 yards and 12 touchdowns on 161 attempts, as well as recorded one tackle.

Four SEC QBs are considered legitimate Heisman Trophy contenders

A list of the Top 10 Heisman Trophy candidates features FOUR SEC quarterbacks!

As the 2024 college football season gets started, it’s important for fans to know of the top-tier players who are projected to perform at such a high level, that they are expected to be contenders for the coveted Heisman Trophy.

A recent list of the Top 10 candidates was shared by USA TODAY Sports‘s Paul Myerberg. While the list features players from all across the country, four are from the SEC.

Rising sophomore quarterback for the Tennessee Volunteers, Nico Iamaleava made the list. Myerberg pointed out that he is the least experienced player on this list, with a minimal sample size to look to.

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe was also named. Myerberg praises Milroe’s abilities but also points out that new head coach Kalen DeBoer has a proven track record of developing quarterbacks.

Additionally, Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck was included and Myerberg stated that because of his performance in 2023 and the team’s expectation in 2024 to compete for a national championship, he should be considered near the top of the list.

Finally, Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers is named as a preseason contender for the Heisman Trophy. Myerberg asked the question: did the arrival of Arch Manning ignite a spark in Ewers last season?

Throughout the 2024 season, this list will certainly change. As players thrive or disappoint, the list of possible Heisman contenders will fluctuate.

Alabama football announces four captains for the 2024 season

QB Jalen Milroe named as one of Alabama Football’s four captains for the 2024 season.

The 2024 college football season is going to be special for everyone with the expanded playoffs, but especially for the Alabama Crimson Tide as they will be in year one of the Kalen DeBoer era following Nick Saban’s January retirement.

Anyone who follows Alabama football knew that the day Saban decided to leave was going to be a tough one, and it absolutely was with several key players departing during the winter transfer window. However, Athletic Director Greg Byrne knew the day would come and was prepared. Within the hour of learning Saban’s retirement plans, Byrne was on a plane headed to Seattle in pursuit of DeBoer.

After guiding the Washington Huskies to a 14-1 record in 2023 with a Pac-12 title and national championship berth, people are really excited to see what DeBoer can do with the resources available to him in Tuscaloosa. DeBoer is very player-oriented and has done a phenomenal job integrating himself into the team and community.

Now, just 11 days away from the start of the DeBoer era and 2024 season, the Crimson Tide have named their four captains – QB Jalen Milroe, LB Deontae Lawson, OL Tyler Booker and DB Malachi Moore.

All four players stuck through the coaching change and will always have a special place in Tuscaloosa. I could not think of four more deserving players.

Jalen Milroe listed among USA TODAY’s top 2024 Heisman preseason candidates

Milroe finished sixth for college football’s top individual honor a year ago.

The preseason Heisman Trophy chatter surrounding Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe continued for the redshirt junior Monday morning, as USA TODAY listed the returning starter among their potential candidates to win the award this fall.

Milroe, who finished sixth in voting for the Heisman Trophy during the 2023 season, was one of 10 players mentioned, eight of which were quarterbacks.

The redshirt junior is coming off a breakout 2023 season in which he held a 65.8 CMP%, throwing for 2,834 yards with a 23:6 TD:INT ratio. Milroe also made a significant impact in the running game, rushing for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns on 161 attempts.

Coming off this breakout season, many across college football are expecting Milroe to take an even bigger step forward in 2025 under new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, whose ability to develop quarterbacks was evident a year ago with former Washington signal caller Michael Penix Jr..

However, time will only tell the answer to this, but it’s clear that there is a ton of hype surrounding Milroe entering 2024. Will the redshirt junior live up to it?
