Alabama’s quarterback depth entering the 2022 season

Let’s take a quick look at Alabama’s quarterback depth chart entering the 2022 season.

Football is back, Tide fans! Alabama will kick the 2022 football season off in just one week and the anticipation continues to mount.

As is the case in most seasons, questions regarding the starting lineup for week one are dominating message boards and Twitter threads. Well, with the season just around the corner, I thought I would start dropping my educated projections of who you might see take the first snaps at each position group.

Some groups are obvious such as quarterback and linebacker, but nevertheless, we will take a look at each group and give a little insight into who you might see take the field against Utah State on Sept. 3.

Today we are going to take a look at a group that really needs no introduction, the quarterbacks.

Let’s roll!

Jalen Milroe’s NIL deal with Rhoback will help Alabama on the recruiting trail

Jalen Milroe lands an NIL deal that will benefit the Crimson Tide on the recruiting trail.

Even though he will be stuck behind Bryce Young on the depth chart for the second year in a row, Alabama backup quarterback, [autotag]Jalen Milroe[/autotag], is already being recognized as the next superstar in the system. When you get stuck behind the Heisman trophy winner like is the case for Milroe, there’s not much you can do; but, what you can do is keep your head down, work your tail off and be prepared when the time comes. All of which Milroe is doing.

Milroe’s efforts are now being appreciated off the field as he landed a name, image, likeness (NIL) deal with Rhoback, a clothing company. Rhoback signed Milroe’s teammate, Will Anderson Jr., to a deal within the past few weeks as well. Rhoback had plenty of athletes to choose from, but they decided to use their last deal on Milroe which should speak volumes of him.

Having a young quarterback that’s hidden on the depth chart land an identical NIL deal to the team’s Heisman candidate edge rusher is massive for recruiting pitches.

Milroe, while very talented is not starting in 2022 and is not guaranteed the starting job in 2023.

Saban will now be able to use this story as a way to show recruits they are capable of earning money off of their name, image and likeness while still waiting for their turn to shine.

Alabama Morning Drive: News and notes from day 1 of fall camp

The top news and notes from day one of fall camp 2022.

Good morning, Tide fans! We have finally made it to Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week as we begin to dive into the weekend.

On Thursday, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team hit the practice field to begin their work on the 2022 college football season.

Yesterday we reported the unfortunate news that star Tide tight end [autotag]Cameron Latu[/autotag] would be missing some time during fall camp with an undisclosed injury. Now, it will be up to the likes of Robbie Ouzts, Amari Niblack, Elijah Brown, Danny Lewis, and Miles Kitselman to pick up the slack in Latu’s absence.

Like coach Saban mentioned in his press conference Thursday, the young guys in the tight end room now have a great opportunity ahead of them to maybe develop a role for themself on this team.

Let’s take a look at a few other notes from Thursday’s practice.

WATCH: Alabama QB Jalen Milroe looks jacked in workout video

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe doesn’t skip out on any days in the weight room.

Alabama backup quarterback [autotag]Jalen Milroe[/autotag] put the college football world on notice with his spectacular play in Alabama’s annual A-Day game back in April.

His performance left fans and analysts wondering how Alabama could let him ride the pine despite the return of Heisman Trophy winner, [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag]. I mean, there has to be a way for Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to come up with some sort of package that includes the incredibly gifted Milroe.

Milroe has now added to his impressiveness. A video of the redshirt freshman quarterback in the weight room has surfaced and the second-year player hasn’t waisted anytime there.

Milroe looks more like a linebacker than a quarterback if you ask me.

5 Alabama players who will improve their stats in 2022

These five players should see tremendous improvement in the 2022 season.

The start of the college football season is just around the corner. The 2022 SEC media days will take place this next week and within a couple of weeks, teams will return to the practice field to start fall camp.

With the season so close, I thought we could take a few moments to look at a handful of Alabama players who I believe are set to improve from the 2021 season.

I have decided not to include reigning Heisman Trophy winner [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] and dominating defender [autotag]Will Anderson[/autotag] on the list because that just seems unfair.

Instead, I am going to give you five players who may not have had a large role in 2021 but are poised to improve this fall.

Let’s roll!

Alabama Morning Drive: ‘Bama has incredible future at QB position

With the addition of Dylan Lonergan, the future of the quarterback position in Tuscaloosa should have Tide fans excited.

Good morning, ‘Bama nation! Welcome to our Tuesday edition of Alabama Morning Drive.

Four-star quarterback Dylan Lonergan committed to Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide over the Standford Cardinal and the South Carolina Gamecocks on Monday, joining fellow four-star quarterback [autotag]Eli Holstein[/autotag] as a member of the 2023 recruiting class.

Alabama now has two of the top 10 ranked quarterbacks in the 2023 class which got me thinking about the future of the position in Tuscaloosa.

Currently, Alabama has the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and future first-round NFL draft pick, [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] calling the signals. But the talent that waits behind him isn’t too shabby either.

Let’s take a quick look at what the future holds for the Tide at the quarterback position and where 247Sports’ composite rankings have (or had) them ranked.

Alabama receives three crystal balls for 2023 4-star QB Dylan Lonergan

Alabama has received three crystal balls in their favor to land 2023 four-star quarterback Dylan Lonergan.

Alabama already has one signal-caller committed in the 2023 recruiting class in Eli Holstein. It appears that another quarterback in the class could be headed to Tuscaloosa as well. That quarterback is Georgia native and two-sport athlete Dylan Lonergan.

Three experts put in crystal ball predictions for him to commit to Alabama. Two other schools in the mix are Stanford and South Carolina, but all three programs will have to wait until July 12 for his decision.

Lonergan plays both football and baseball for Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia. He is rated as a four-star prospect according to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings. Lonergan is listed at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds. With a decision coming soon, 247Sports expert Steve Wiltfong put in a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Tide. Two other South Carolina insiders did the same.

If Alabama can land Lonergan, they will have one of the best quarterback classes in the country for 2023. The quarterback room could be composed of Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson, Eli Holstein, and Dylan Lonergan. The coaching staff has been pushing to sign two quarterbacks and it looks like that could happen in the coming days.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Lonergan’s recruitment and other Alabama Football prospects.

Alabama has top QB room in the country according to CBS Sports

Bryce Young isn’t the only talented signal-caller in Tuscaloosa.

With the return of reigning Heisman Trophy winner [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag], it should come as no surprise that Alabama would be considered to have one of the top quarterback rooms in the country heading into the 2022 season.

According to Shehan Jeyarajah of CBS Sports, the Crimson Tide stand atop the list of college teams with the best quarterback room in the nation.

Besides returning Young, Alabama has a pair of highly touted quarterback prospects who are just waiting to burst onto the scene. Redshirt freshman [autotag]Jalen Milore[/autotag] showed Alabama fans, and the rest of the country for that matter, just how much potential he truly has during Alabama’s annual A-Day game in April.

True freshman [autotag]Ty Simpson[/autotag] is a five-star prospect who will likely become a household name within the next couple of years.

Jeyarajah had this to say about the trio of quarterbacks in Tuscaloosa.

“If you bring back the Heisman-winning quarterback and former top-100 recruits, it earns you a spot on the top of this list. Bryce Young was sensational in his first season as a starter, completing 66.9% of his passes for 4,872 yards passing and 47 touchdowns. He threw for more than 300 yards 10 times, including a 369-yard performance in the College Football Playoff National Championship and 421 yards and three scores in the SEC title game. The depth behind Young is green, but Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson were among the most pursued players in the nation. If Simpson and Milroe are good enough for Nick Saban, we trust them.”

There’s no denying that Nick Saban has a wealth of talent calling the shots for his offense for many years to come.
