Twitter reacts to Bears WR Jakeem Grant’s insane 97-yard punt return TD

Jakeem Grant’s 97-yard punt return touchdown has Bears fans going crazy. Somewhere, Devin Hester is smiling.

No one expected that Sunday night’s game between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers would become the Jakeem Grant game. But here we are.

Grant is responsible for two of Chicago’s three first-half touchdowns, where he’s flashed his incredible speed on both.

And as if Grant’s 46-yard catch-and-run touchdown wasn’t impressive enough, he channeled his inner Devin Hester on a 97-yard punt return touchdown, the first punt return touchdown in the NFL this season and the longest in Bears history.

As you can imagine, people are going crazy after Grant’s insane punt return touchdown, where he turned an improbable return into an impressive touchdown run that gave Chicago the lead over their biggest rivals.

Jakeem Grant turns on the speed to score Bears’ first TD vs. Packers

Bears WR Jakeem Grant reached a top speed of 20.86 mph on his 46-yard catch-and-run touchdown.

The Chicago Bears achieved the unexpected and contained the Green Bay Packers for most of the first half. But if they hope to pull off the ultimate upset, they’re going to need their offense to step up.

After Chicago’s defense forced another Green Bay punt on their second series, the Bears offense responded with a 6-play, 89-yard touchdown drive to put them up two possessions against the Packers for the first time since 2018.

And it was their speedy returner and receiver Jakeem Grant who got them there.

On second-and-4 from the Green Bay 46-yard line, quarterback Justin Fields threw a short pass to Grant, who took it 46 yards to the end zone for a touchdown.

According to Next Gen Stats, Grant reached a top speed of 20.86 MPH on his catch-and-run touchdown, which is the fastest speed by a Bears ball carrier on a play from scrimmage this season.

The Bears trail the Packers 14-10 in the second quarter.

Bears’ trick play vs. Cardinals had a classic Matt Nagy name

Just as Bears HC Matt Nagy appears on his way out of Chicago, he pulled out a new trick play called “Atomic Bomb” against the Cardinals.

There was a time when there was hope and optimism surrounding Matt Nagy and his Chicago Bears. The year was 2018, and the Bears cruised to a 12-4 record and their first NFC North title in eight years.

That was the same year Nagy won Coach of the Year, which seems ridiculous given how things have transpired in the three years since. During that 2018 season, Nagy became famous for his trick plays — be it “Santa’s Sleigh,” “Oompa Loompa,” “Freezer Left” or “Willy Wonka.”

Just as Nagy appears on his way out of Chicago, he pulled out a new trick play called “Atomic Bomb” against the Cardinals. And while it looked like it was a potential disaster in the making, Chicago turned it into a massive gain.

In the third quarter on first-and-10 from the Chicago 40-yard line, running back David Montgomery took the direct snap in the wildcat formation and handed the ball off to receiver Jakeem Grant, who then pitched it to quarterback Andy Dalton.

Dalton looked like he was done for as Cardinals pass rusher Devon Kennard was bearing down on him. But Dalton evaded the sack and found Grant downfield for a 34-yard completion to set Chicago up on the Arizona 26-yard line.

That play led to a one-yard touchdown from Dalton to tight end Jimmy Graham to bring the Bears to within 10 points, 24-14. Unfortunately, that was the closest they’d get.

Studs and duds from Bears’ messy loss to the Cardinals

The Bears had some standout performances and others that were about as messy as the weather conditions. Our studs and duds from the loss.

The only thing worse than the field conditions on Sunday was the play of the Chicago Bears against the Arizona Cardinals. The Bears went down early to Arizona and never recovered, losing 33-22, dropping them to 4-8 on the season and all-but-out of the playoff hunt.

It wasn’t a great day for Andy Dalton, who threw four interceptions on the day. On the other side, Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins returned from injury and immediately made their presence known by hooking up for a touchdown. It was all Cardinals from then on as they maintained their NFL-best 10-2 record.

There were many different players who had some standout performances, while others were about as messy as the weather conditions. Here are this week’s studs and duds.

Bears vs. Cardinals recap: Everything we know about Chicago’s Week 13 loss

The Bears lost 33-22 on Sunday, making them 1-5 in their last 6 games and 4-8 on the season. We’re recapping their loss to the Cardinals.

Coming off of a win on Thanksgiving, the Chicago Bears hosted the top-seeded Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Unlike last week, the Bears are back in the losing column, making them 1-5 in their last six games.

While Chicago had a chance to pull off the upset, they committed too many mistakes that led to the Bears’ eighth loss of the season.

Let’s take a look at everything we know after Chicago’s Week 13 loss to Arizona.

Potential disaster turns into impressive trick play for Bears

The Bears pulled off an impressive trick play against the Cardinals, where Andy Dalton evaded a sack for a deep completion.

The Chicago Bears are pulling out some tricks against the top-seeded Arizona Cardinals, including a trick play that went from potential disaster to first down completion in the third quarter.

On first-and-10 from the Chicago 40-yard line, running back David Montgomery took the direct snap in the wildcat formation and handed the ball off to receiver Jakeem Grant, who then pitched it to quarterback Andy Dalton.

Dalton looked like he was done for as Cardinals pass rusher Devon Kennard was bearing down on him. But Dalton evaded the sack and found Grant downfield for a 34-yard completion to set Chicago up on the Arizona 26-yard line.

That eventually led to a one-yard touchdown from Dalton to tight end Jimmy Graham to bring the Bears to within 10 points, 24-14.

Studs and duds for Bears at the midway point of 2021 season

There have been plenty of standouts and disappointments for the Bears through their first nine games of the season.

It’s hard to believe, but the Chicago Bears are already halfway through the 2021 season. From a record standpoint, it hasn’t been the most successful year as they’re currently 3-6 and in third place in the NFC North.

But this season was all about developing Justin Fields to see if he can truly be the franchise quarterback this team has been searching for since the 1980s. Fields has had his ups and downs, but is looking better and better each week, even in losses.

In addition to Fields, this team has had its share of standout players over their first nine games, while also having a few disappointments as well. Here are the studs and duds over the first half of the season for the Bears.

Studs and duds from Bears’ heartbreaking loss to the Steelers

The Bears had some outstanding performances and other disappointing outings in a brutal prime-time loss to the Steelers.

The Chicago Bears-Pittsburgh Steelers game was a tale of two halves as the Bears couldn’t do anything on offense for much of the first half, but exploded in the second half to nearly steal a game on the road. The Steelers had the big lead early and kept the game out of reach for much of the night, but the Bears clawed their way back thanks to Justin Fields and a little special teams luck.

Late in the game and trailing by six, Fields took the offense the distance to take the lead late after he found Darnell Mooney for the go-ahead touchdown. But he left Ben Roethlisberger too much time on the clock, allowing the Steelers to win the game on a field goal. A last-second effort couldn’t amount to anything and the Bears lost 29-27 in a game filled with questionable penalties and sloppy performances from both teams.

There were some outstanding performances on the Bears side, however, while others really disappointed on the national stage. Here are the studs and duds from Monday night’s loss.

Bears returner Jakeem Grant questionable to return after ankle injury

Jakeem Grant suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter and is questionable to return.

The Chicago Bears are off to a great start against the Green Bay Packers, but could be playing without their top return specialist.

Wide receiver Jakeem Grant was shaken up after a long punt return in the first quarter that was negated by penalty. Grant hurt his ankle on the Packers sideline.

According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, trainers were looking at Grant’s leg and he was taken to the locker room. He was walking under his own power, however and is questionable to return.

Grant fielded two punts on the day for 11 total yards in his second game since coming to the Bears in a trade with the Miami Dolphins.

The Bears lead the Packers 7-0 at the start of the second quarter.

Stock up, stock down from Bears’ Week 5 win

We’re taking a look at which Bears players saw their stock rise and which players saw their stock dip in their Week 5 win.

The Chicago Bears pulled off an upset with a 20-9 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders last Sunday, where Chicago played complimentary football to get their first road win of the year.

The Bears improved to 3-2 on the season, and they have a chance to take over first place in the NFC North if they can pull an upset against the Green Bay Packers.

Now that the dust has settled, we’re taking a look at which players saw their stock rise and which players saw their stock dip during the win.
