Compensation updates for Isaiah Oliver, Chuck Clark, Kenny Yeboah, Jake Hanson

Compensation updates for Isaiah Oliver, Chuck Clark, Kenny Yeboah, Jake Hanson

Thanks to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, we have dollar figures for a handful of recent signings for the New York Jets.

The Jets gave one-contracts to the following players:

CB Isaiah Oliver
Safety Chuck Clark
TE Kenny Yeboah
OG Jake Hanson

The total compensation for all four players is only about $6 million. Here are those figures:

Oliver: $2.5 million ($2.2 million guaranteed)
Clark: $2 million ($705,000 guaranteed)
Yeboah: $1.4 million ($225,000 guaranteed)
Hanson: $1.1 million ($45,000 guaranteed)

With those deals now included, Over the Cap has the Jets sitting at about $22 million in cap space. Keep in mind, this is still without the numbers for Tyron Smith and Tyrod Taylor, so that number will change very soon.

Jake Hanson leaves game vs. Browns with concussion

Jets offensive guard Jake Hanson left Thursday’s game against the Browns with a concussion

Jets right guard Jake Hanson was ruled out of Thursday’s game against the Browns with a concussion.

When the Jets came out to start the second half, Hanson was replaced by Xavier Newman at right guard. As it turns out, Hanson was replaced due to an injury, not a benching.

This is just the latest in what has been another whirlwind of a season in terms of injuries to the offensive line for the Jets. This was the first week since October that the Jets played the same offensive line two weeks in a row. Unfortunately, that group could not stay together much longer. The Jets have started 12 different offensive line combinations this season.

Jets sign Tanzel Smart to active roster, elevate two from practice squad for Week 11

Jets sign Tanzel Smart to active roster, elevate two from practice squad for Week 11

The Jets announced a few roster moves ahead of their Week 11 matchup with the Buffalo Bills, including bringing back a defensive lineman and calling up two from the practice squad.

The Jets signed defensive tackle Tanzel Smart to the 53-man roster, not long after the team waived Smart and brought him back on the practice squad. Smart has seen time in two games this season with one tackle.

The two players elevated from the practice squad this week are offensive lineman Jake Hanson and linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball.

Hanson joined the Jets’ practice squad on November 6. He played in 11 games — including one start — with the Green Bay Packers over the past two seasons. Hanson was drafted in the sixth round by the Packers in 2020. He’ll add extra depth on the interior for the Jets Sunday.

McCrary-Ball has been on the Jets’ practice squad since the end of August when the team began building their practice squad for the season after their initial 53-man roster was set. He spent the 2022 season and the 2023 offseason with the San Francisco 49ers. The former Indiana Hoosier signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2022. With Chazz Surratt and Sam Eguavoen both out for Sunday, McCrary-Ball will be the fifth linebacker and help on special teams.

Packers sign CB Elijah Hamilton, waive C Jake Hanson with injury designation

The Packers waived offensive lineman Jake Hanson and filled up the open roster spot by signing CB Elijah Hamilton.

The Green Bay Packers signed cornerback Elijah Hamilton and waived offensive lineman Jake Hanson with an injury designation on Tuesday.

Hanson, a sixth-round pick of the Packers in the 2020 draft, injured his shin against the New England Patriots on Saturday night. He played in 11 games and made one start, playing 75 total snaps on offense and 32 more on special teams.

Hanson will go on waivers. If unclaimed, Hanson would revert to Green Bay’s injured reserve, setting up the possibility of an injury settlement and Hanson becoming a free agent.

Hamilton gets the open spot on the 90-man roster.

Hamilton went undrafted out of Louisiana Tech in 2022. After four seasons at Vanderbilt, Hamilton transferred to Louisiana Tech and played in 10 games (one pass breakup over 227 snaps) during his final collegiate season in 2021. Hamilton spent time with the Miami Dolphins and most recently played for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL.

During the 2023 season with the Battlehawks, Hamilton allowed 13 catches and had two pass breakups over 317 snaps and nine games.

Hamilton’s Relative Athletic Score at cornerback is 8.79 out of 10.0.

The Packers returned Innis Gaines and Corey Ballentine at practice on Tuesday, but Hamilton will add more depth at cornerback during the final week of training camp.

Packers activate OL Jake Hanson off PUP list

Packers OL Jake Hanson passed his physical and will come off the PUP list.

Jake Hanson’s stay on the physically unable to perform list was a short one. The Green Bay Packers activated the third-year offensive lineman from the PUP list on Saturday after he passed his physical.

Hanson was originally placed on the PUP list on Friday. He missed the final 11 games of the 2022 season after suffering a significant biceps injury.

Hanson, a sixth-round pick in the 2020 draft, made one start (Week 1) and played 69 snaps on offense (66 at right guard) and 19 on special teams over six games last season. He allowed four pressures (one sack) and earned the worst pass-blocking grade at PFF among Packers offensive linemen in 2022.

This summer, Hanson will get a chance to make the 53-man roster for the third consecutive season. Barring injury, his best shot to make the team is as a backup on the interior of the offensive line.

Packers place WR Randall Cobb and OL Jake Hanson on injured reserve

The Packers placed WR Randall Cobb (ankle) and OL Jake Hanson (biceps) on injured reserve, meaning they’ll have to miss at least 4 games.

The Green Bay Packers placed wide receiver Randall Cobb and offensive lineman Jake Hanson on injured reserve on Saturday. Both players were injured against the New York Jets last Sunday and were unable to practice throughout the week.

Cobb, who injured his ankle, and Hanson, who has a biceps injury, will have to miss at least the next four games before they are eligible to return from injured reserve.

Cobb, 32, caught 18 passes for 257 yards and zero touchdowns during the first six games of the 2022 season. He was injured when his ankle was rolled up on during a run play against the Jets. Despite initial fears of a season-ending injury, Cobb is expected to miss anywhere between 4-6 weeks.

Without Cobb, expect to see more of Amari Rodgers in the traditional slot receiver role.

Hanson, who started Week 1, replaced Royce Newman at right guard on the final series of the first half against the Jets but hurt his biceps during the drive and didn’t return. He played just five snaps from scrimmage. It’s unclear the severity of the injury.

Hanson’s injury puts rookie Zach Tom into the spotlight should the Packers need reinforcements along the interior of the offensive line.

In a corresponding roster move, the Packers activated receiver Sammy Watkins from injured reserve to the 53-man roster.

Packers think Jake Hanson can be the new Lucas Patrick for offensive line

Lucas Patrick, a versatile interior OL, is now in Chicago. Can Jake Hanson replace him in 2022? The Packers offensive coordinator thinks so.

The Green Bay Packers think Jake Hanson – who is now healthy after dealing with a bum hip as a rookie – can be the offensive line’s replacement for Lucas Patrick, who gave the Packers depth and a starting-caliber player at any of the three interior positions, including center.

Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich didn’t hesitate when asked if Hanson has Patrick-like ability.

“Yeah. He has the ability to play any inside position and hopefully, he does a good job in these next preseason games and proves it,” Stenavich said Thursday.

Patrick signed with the Chicago Bears this offseason after starting 18 games and playing over 1,800 total snaps for the Packers over the last two years.

Hanson, a 2020 sixth-round pick out of Oregon, has been a starter at right guard for much of training camp and the team’s preseason opener in San Francisco. He’s been cross-trained at both guard positions and is the most likely backup behind Josh Myers at center, giving him Patrick-like versatility inside.

Although the Packers are still playing with offensive line combos, and the eventual return of Elgton Jenkins will shake up the lineup, it’s possible Hanson could start at right guard come Week 1 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Last season, Hanson played all of six offensive snaps over five regular-season games.

Is he ready for the next step now that Patrick is gone?

Stenavich, who was promoted from offensive line coach to offensive coordinator after Luke Getsy left earlier this year, has seen a huge step in development from Hanson this summer.

“Jake has had one of the best camps of anyone on our offense, just from taking that next step,” Stenavich said. “I think his first year, his hip was banged up and he just didn’t look right. He got his hip fixed and then has come back and he looks like a brand-new guy. So, he’s playing with physicality, he’s intelligent, he has the ability to center. I’m excited about him.”

Packers sign sixth-round pick Jake Hanson

The Packers have just one draft pick left to sign after agreeing to a deal with center Jake Hanson.

Eight down, one to go.

The Green Bay Packers agreed to a rookie deal with sixth-round pick Jake Hanson, a center from Oregon, the team announced on Friday.

Hanson’s signing leaves the Packers with just one draft pick left to sign from the 2020 class: third-round pick Josiah Deguara.

The Packers made Hanson the 208th overall pick in the 2020 draft. He started 49 games at center over four years at Oregon.

Over the Cap estimates Hanson’s four-year deal will be worth $3.45 million, with a signing bonus of just over $150,000 and a cap hit in 2020 of just under $650,000.

Hanson will compete for a roster spot as a backup behind starter Corey Linsley and the interior linemen.

Best OL prospect for the Ravens in each round of the 2020 NFL Draft

An offensive lineman in each round of the NFL Draft to interest the Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens could stand to improve their offensive line in the 2020 NFL Draft, particularly in light of certain developments concerning their 2019 personnel.

While the Ravens are returning 10 of their 11 offensive starters from last season, their lone loss is a massive one. Long-time guard Marshal Yanda called it a career this offseason, creating a big hole in their offensive line that they’ll have to fill. While Ben Powers shouldn’t be forgotten and should be penciled in as the starter there, Baltimore could turn to the 2020 NFL Draft to find more competition for the now-vacant role.

In addition to right guard, the Ravens could use more depth along their entire offensive line. Though Patrick Mekari filled in well and Matt Skura appears to be rehabilitating nicely from the torn ACL, MCL, PCL and dislocated knee cap that sent him to injured reserve last season, there’s no clear timetable for his return. With Baltimore’s offense being so run-heavy and an emphasis on protecting mobile MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, the offensive line could be one area the Ravens focus in on for the 2020 NFL Draft.

With all of that in mind, here’s how Baltimore could fill their offensive line needs in each round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Credit: Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

1st Round – C/G Lloyd Cushenberry, LSU

Skura was good in 2019 before suffering his injury and Mekari filled in well. But in Cushenberry, the Ravens have a chance to nab the top center prospect in this draft class. Cushenberry was a member of the LSU line that won the Joe Moore Award for the best line in college football last season, also helping propel quarterback Joe Burrow as the sure-fire No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Cushenberry took snaps at both center and guard for LSU, so he offers some positional versatility. He is an excellent pass protector but could stand to develop a nastier edge in the ground game. He is a good run blocker, but with some development, he could become great.

Chicago Bears 2020 Mock Draft 1.0

The Bears still have some needs to address on the offense and defense, which Colton tackles in his first mock draft of the season.

With the NFL Draft season in full swing, there’s no better time for a mock draft.

The Chicago Bears went into the offseason with a lot of holes on offense and defense. They filled out some defensive holes but it still needs work, and on the offensive side, they traded for Nick Foles and signed Jimmy Graham.

General manager Ryan Pace still needs to address the offensive line, cornerback, tight end, wide receiver, and safety. Yes, I know they just signed Graham but do you really feel comfortable with him playing tight end all year? I sure don’t.

The offensive line was the biggest problem for the Bears last year and it led to Mitchell Trubisky having a down year, and it also led to the running game not doing so well. So heading into the draft, addressing the offensive line should be at the top of the list.

Chicago’s wide receiver core is good, but I still think we can add to it, especially following the departure of Taylor Gabriel. It’d be nice if Pace went out and signed Robby Anderson in free agency, but his price tag is a bit too high for the Bears. So it looks like Pace will have to go get a receiver in the draft.

One of the most underlying needs for the Bears heading into the offseason is cornerback. Kyle Fuller has turned into one of the best corners in the NFL, however, Chicago, lacks solid depth around him. Although Buster Skrine is set in the slot, the Bears could use an outside presence to help Fuller. Instead of drafting a cornerback in the draft, the Bears can still go out and sign a guy like Jimmy Smith.

The Bears have seven picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, including a pair of second-rounders, one fifth round selection, as well as two picks in each the sixth and seventh rounds.

Without further ado, let’s get this mock draft on:
