Watch: Former Georgia QB Jake Fromm gets first NFL snaps

Fromm took the field on Friday night for the first time since the 2020 Sugar Bowl.

Former Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm got the first snaps of his NFL career on Friday night in the Buffalo Bills 16-15 preseason win over the Detroit Lions.

Buffalo drafted Fromm in the 5th round of the 2020 draft after a productive career at Georgia where he helped lead the Bulldogs to an SEC Championship appearance, 2017 SEC Championship title, 2018 Rose Bowl playoff win and a national championship appearance.

Last season, Fromm served as the Bills’ emergency quarterback incase of COVID-19 issues, which kept him away from the team for most of the last year.

Last night Fromm got to take the field for the first time in his young pro career and well, he impressed…

This 42 yard pass set up the Bills’ game-winning field goal. Fromm totaled 65 yards on 8 of 13 passing and took two sacks but looked in-control in his first game appearance since the 2020 Sugar Bowl.

Fromm took to Twitter after the game:

Fromm finished his illustrious career in Athens as the second all-time leader in passing touchdowns (78) and fourth in passing yards (8,224).

The Fromm stat that stands out the most – he maintained a perfect record in the SEC East over his three seasons except for South Carolina in 2019, that includes a spotless 3-0 record over the Gators from Gainesville.

You can catch Fromm and the Bills in another preseason matchup on Saturday, Aug. 21 as they take on the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

Fromm wrote,

“I can’t remember what I said, but I do know this; I love you with all my heart and want to spend everyday with you by my side. I’m so thankful God put you in my life. Thank you for making me strive to seek Him everyday, helping me become a better man, and of course saying “Yes”.

Fromm played at Georgia from 2017 to 2019 and as a freshman, helped lead the Bulldogs to SEC Championship and Rose Bowl wins and a national championship appearance. The Warner Robins, Ga., native was drafted by the Bills in the 5th round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Fromm served last season as the Bill’s emergency COVID-19 quarterback and spent the year quarantined away from the team. This year, Fromm will battle for the third string position once again behind star Josh Allen and recent signee Mitch Trubisky.

Former Georgia QB Jake Fromm signs with Bills — contract details here

Former Georgia football QB and 2020 NFL Draft pick Jake Fromm signed his rookie contract with the Buffalo Bills. Here are the details…

Former Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm signed his rookie deal on Friday with the Buffalo Bills.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, it’s a four-year contract worth $3.7 million total, $899,490 guaranteed with a $302,960 signing bonus.

A pedestrian combine performance reportedly caused Fromm to slip to the fifth-round of the 2020 NFL Draft where the Buffalo Bills felt fortunate to select him with the No. 167 overall pick.

General manager Brandon Beane said that drafting Fromm was not meant to send a message to Bills starter Josh Allen, but rather to fill a “premium position” with a talented player.

Fromm will have an opportunity to compete for the backup position this off-season with fellow Bills quarterbacks Davis Webb and Matt Barkley. And as Georgia fans know well, don’t count Fromm out in a quarterback competition. He has beaten out a couple of 5-stars before and won a few games in between…
