Penn State’s Class of 2025 is perfectly balanced, as all things should be

Penn State has signed its Class of 2025, and it’s a solid class.

Penn State may be preparing for the Big Ten championship game this week, but Wednesday was a cause to pause and celebrate the future of the program beyond this season. Wednesday marked the beginning of the early signing period in college football, and Penn State officially inked 26 members for its Class of 2026. With a recruiting class split evenly with 13 offensive players and 13 defensive players, James Franklin and his staff have managed to pull in a balanced class that will continue to sustain what the entire staff has been working to build for the next few seasons.

More than half of this recruiting class is scheduled to enroll early in January. Penn State announced 14 members of its Class of 2025 will be early enrollees, which will allow them to go through offseason workouts and conditioning and participate in spring football practices.

This recruiting class will be one of Franklin’s best overall classes at Penn State as well. A total of 23 of the 26 commits were ranked as a four-star or five-star player by On3, 247Sports, Rivals, or ESPN. The class also spread the Penn State footprint into 10 different states, including 19 from Pennsylvania or a neighboring state.

Among the top-rated recruits in the Class of 2025 are interior offensive lineman [autotag]Malachi Goodman[/autotag] from New Jersey, cornerback [autotag]Daryus Dixson[/autotag] from California, and linebacker [autotag]LaVar Arrington Jr.[/autotag] (yes, THAT LaVar Arrington).

Penn State flips commitment of 2025 Ohio defensive back

Penn State r received a commitment from 2025 three-star Ohio defensive back

Penn State received some positive recruiting news to kick off its bye week on Monday afternoon when three-star 2025 Ironton (Ohio) defensive back [autotag]Josh Johnson[/autotag] announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions. Johnson committed initially to Louisville this summer but reopened his recruitment following an official visit to Penn State in June.

The six-foot-three defensive back had visited State College numerous times throughout his recruitment and became close with the staff and current players.

“They have one of the best defenses in college football right now,” Johnson said. “I feel like my relationship with the staff at PSU is great. I talk to a lot of people over there daily. I really love the energy when I’m there.”

Johnson is rated as a three-star by 247Sports, the No. 90 cornerback in the 2025 class and the No. 39 player in Ohio. The 247Sports Composite rankings have Johnson as the No. 83 cornerback nationally.

Due to his size, Penn State recruited Johnson as a cornerback, but he can move to safety if needed. Penn State’s 2025 class already has [autotag]Daryus Dixson[/autotag], [autotag]Jahmir Joseph[/autotag] and [autotag]Xxavier Thomas[/autotag] at cornerback. [autotag]Braswell Thomas[/autotag] is also a part of the class at safety.

Penn State back into top 10 of 247Sports recruiting rankings following latest commit

Where does Penn State’s Class of 2025 rank now after the addition of Jahmir Joseph to the recruiting class?

Not that Penn State was falling out of contention for having one of the top recruiting classes in the Big Ten in recent weeks, but the Nittany Lions did climb back into a top 10 ranking with a new commitment this week.

Penn State received a verbal commitment from four-star cornerback Jahmir Joseph, one of the top recruits overall in the state of New Jersey, to add to what has already been celebrated as a solid recruiting class. As expected, the addition of a four-star recruit like this led to a bit of a bump in the recruiting rankings for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State started the month of June ranked no. 8 in the national recruiting rankings for the Class of 2025 according to the 247Sports composite rankings. By the middle of the month the Nittany Lions slipped down to no. 13 with a couple of Big Ten programs, Rutgers and Wisconsin, passing them by following some commitments of their own. But after securing a commitment from Joseph this week, Penn State is back in the top 10.

Penn State currently ranks no. 10 in the updated 247Sports composite rankings, as of Wednesday morning. Ohio State and Rutgers are the only Big Ten programs ranked ahead of Penn State at the moment.

How does Penn State rate on other recruiting outlets at this time? Penn State currently ranks no. 12 on the latest class rankings from On3. Rivals agrees with 247Sports, however, with Penn State currently sitting at no. 10 in the latest team rankings from Rivals.

Will Penn State be able to secure a top-10 recruiting class in 2025? Time will tell, but the Nittany Lions are easily on pace to have one of the top recruiting hauls in the Big Ten once again.

Penn State picks up commitment from coveted four-star cornerback

Penn State picks up a big four-star commitment from Jahmir Joseph.

Penn State is looking to secure a top recruiting class in the 2025 cycle.

Things have been relatively quiet and slow compared to past classes where they seemed to know where they stood among many of the top targets they were pursuing.

With official visit season taking place at Happy Valley, James Franklin and his staff need a huge showing so they can finish first in the process of these recruits.

They got some fantastic news when four-star cornerback [autotag]Jahmir Joseph[/autotag] gave his verbal commitment to Penn State on Monday.

Listed as the 22nd-best player at his position and No. 182 in the 2025 class, this is a major win for the Nittany Lions to get the 6-foot, 185-pounder to commit to their program.

He joins fellow cornerback commits [autotag]Xxavier Thomas[/autotag] and Daryus Dixson in this class, bringing Penn State’s number of cornerbacks up to three. There are now 15 players who are in this class for 2025.

Joseph chose the Nittany Lions over Notre Dame, Stanford, Georgia, and South Carolina.

The four-star was on campus this past weekend taking an official visit, and even though he was scheduled to visit South Carolina this upcoming weekend, he decided the trip to Happy Valley was good enough to officially commit to Penn State.

This seemed to be trending that way for the Nittany Lions as he took his most documented visits to see that program with four, but based on this new age of recruiting, it’s hard to tell until things become official.

Who Penn State will land next to fill out their cornerback group remains to be seen as they would prefer to have four commits in this class with [autotag]Brandon Finney[/autotag] being a major target still on the board.

Recruiting predictions surge in favor of Penn State for four-star CB Jahmir Joseph

Multiple recruiting predictions filed after an official visit favor Penn State for Class of 2025 CB Jahmir Joseph.

The temperatures are heating up around the region, and so are the recruiting battles in the Class of 2025. Penn State is hoping to pick up some momentum on the recruiting trail after some busy weekends of hosting visitors and it looks like some positive news could be incoming at any moment. A pair of recruiting predictions filed on Sunday show Penn State is the favorite to secure a commitment from four-star cornerback [autotag]Jahmir Joseph[/autotag] out of New Jersey.

Brian Dohn, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports, and Lions247 staff writer Tyler Calvaruso each recorded an official crystal ball prediction in favor of Penn State for Joseph on June 16. That seems to be encouraging news for the Nittany Lions as the four-star cornerback is coming off an official visit with Penn State.

On top of that, the latest update to the On3 recruiting prediction machine for Joseph gives Penn State a resounding 92.7% chance of winning his commitment. That rating had been leaning in Penn State’s favor before his official visit, but an official recruiting prediction for Penn State from On3 recruiting analyst Ryan Snyder has helped weigh the rating more heavily in Penn State’s favor.

Joseph is scheduled to take an official visit to South Carolina next weekend. He took official visits to Stanford and Notre Dame in the two weeks prior to his Penn State visit. Joseph is rated as the no. 5 player overall in New Jersey by 247Sports, and he is rated as the no. 23 cornerback in the nation. The 6′-0″ recruiting target Montvale, NJ is entering his senior season with Saint Joseph Regional and has already taken two additional unofficial visits to Penn State.

Penn State’s Class of 2025 currently ranks no. 13 in the updated 247Sports composite team rankings. That is down four spots from where Penn State ranked at the beginning of the month. Two Big Ten teams, Rutgers and Wisconsin, have moved ahead of Penn State in the past couple of weeks, bumping down Penn State from no. 3 among Big Ten programs to no. 5.

Ohio State football sends out a flurry of offers to top prospects

The Buckeyes stay active on the recruiting trail again #GoBucks

The phones at the [autotag]Woody Hayes Athletic Center[/autotag] must be going off the hook for the [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] staff. The Buckeye brass has been super active on the recruiting trail the last few days, with one of the highlights being an offer to 2026 quarterback Julian Lewis.

The action didn’t stop with Lewis. Many more offers have gone out over the last day or so. There wasn’t a specific focus on who the offers went out to — or even a specific class. They were all over the board.

Find out below who [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] and his staff have recently offered.

UGA football offers New Jersey ATH Jahmir Joseph

UGA has offered a scholarship to class of 2025 athlete Jahmir Joseph.

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to class of 2025 athlete Jahmir Joseph. Joseph plays high school football for St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, New Jersey.

The talented athlete also plays basketball. Jahmir Joseph has recently visited Boston College and Penn State. He has scholarship offers from Rutgers, Duke, Boston College, and Syracuse.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound athlete projects as a defensive back or wide receiver at the next level. Joseph is only a sophomore in high school. He will see more recruiting interest as time goes on.

Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown offered Joseph a scholarship. Brown is quite familiar with the Northeast and is helping Georgia be more competitive in recruiting the region.

The unranked athlete announced his scholarship offer from Georgia football via Twitter:

Joseph had an impressive interception early during the start of the 2022 high school football season. Joseph, who can dunk a basketball, showed his athleticism and ball skills on this play:
