Panthers Week 16 injury report: WR Xavier Legette out vs. Cardinals

As expected, the Panthers will be without 2024 first-round pick Xavier Legette in Week 16.

As expected, the Carolina Panthers will not have their 2024 first-round pick on the field against the Arizona Cardinals.

Wide receiver Xavier Legette has been ruled out for the team’s Week 16 outing due to a hip injury. The rookie did not participate in practice throughout the week after making an early exit from last Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Fellow rookie pass catcher Jalen Coker, who was limited on Thursday and Friday with a lingering quadriceps issue, has been listed as questionable. He led the Panthers with a career-high 110 receiving yards in Week 15.

Left tackle Ikem Ekwonu and right guard Robert Hunt are also questionable due to illnesses.

Panthers WR Jalen Coker pops up on injury report as limited for Thursday’s practice

Panthers rookie WR Jalen Coker has joined the team’s Week 16 injury report.

Carolina Panthers wideout Jalen Coker has joined an already-crowded Week 16 injury report.

The rookie receiver was considered a limited participant for Thursday’s practice ahead of this weekend’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Coker was listed with a quadriceps injury, which sidelined him for the three games prior to his Week 15 return.

That outing, which ended in a 30-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, saw the 23-year-old go for a career-high 110 receiving yards. Coker’s 83-yard touchdown before the half was the longest play of the 2024 season for the Carolina offense.

In addition, rookie wideout Xavier Legette missed his second straight session with a hip injury.

Starting right guard Robert Hunt was also out with an illness.

Chuba Hubbard, Adam Thielen among 10 Panthers held out from Wednesday’s practice

10 Panthers were listed as non-participants for Wednesday’s practice.

The Carolina Panthers—who may be dealing with a bug, according to head coach Dave Canales—pretty much took a collective rest/sick day this afternoon.

10 players were held out from Wednesday’s practice, six of which were listed with rest designations. The bunch includes running back Chuba Hubbard, wide receiver Adam Thielen, linebacker Josey Jewell and cornerback Jaycee Horn.

Rookie wideout Xavier Legette, who seems unlikely to suit up this weekend against the Arizona Cardinals, also did not participate due to a hip injury. Legette made an early exit from the Week 15 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Panthers Week 15 inactives: 2 big-name starting defenders active vs. Cowboys

As expected, Panthers OLB Jadeveon Clowney and CB Jaycee Horn are both up against the Cowboys today.

Despite a smidgeon of doubt, the Carolina Panthers will have two pretty big names in uniform for Week 15.

As expected, outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney and cornerback Jaycee Horn are active for this afternoon’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Both were listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report.

Clowney returns after missing out on last week’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles due to a shoulder issue. Horn, who has yet to sit out from a game this season, has been dealing with a bothersome groin.

The Panthers will not, however, have running back and return specialist Raheem Blackshear. Blackshear, whose 705 yards on kickoff returns rank second in the NFL, is down with a chest injury.

As a result, and along with the season-ending ACL tear to rookie Jonathon Brooks, Carolina elevated seventh-year rusher Mike Boone from the practice squad on Saturday. He is expected to back up starter Chuba Hubbard.

Here’s the full list of inactives on the day for the Panthers:

  • CB Shemar Bartholomew
  • RB Raheem Blackshear
  • CB Akayleb Evans
  • OL Jarrett Kingston
  • DT Sam Roberts
  • S Nick Scott
  • ILB Trevin Wallace

And for the visiting Cowboys:

  • C Cooper Beebe
  • CB Trevon Diggs
  • WR Ryan Flournoy
  • S Juanyeh Thomas
  • DE Tyrus Wheat
  • RB Deuce Vaughn

Panthers Week 15 injury report: Jadeveon Clowney, Jaycee Horn questionable vs. Cowboys

The Panthers will not have rookie LB Trevin Wallace for Sunday’s tilt against the Cowboys. OLB Jadeveon Clowney and CB Jaycee Horn are questionable.

The Carolina Panthers will be a tad lighter in the middle of their defense in Week 15.

Inside linebacker Trevin Wallace has been ruled out from Sunday’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys due to a shoulder injury. The rookie has been listed as a non-participant in practice throughout the week.

Wallace has recorded 64 combined tackles, 1.0 sack and two forced fumbles over 13 games. Per head coach Dave Canales, Claudin Cherelus will start in Wallace’s place.

Cornerback Jaycee Horn, who is down as questionable, was limited for a third straight outing because of a groin issue. Canales says he’s hopeful that Horn will play.

Carolina’s defense could, however, have outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney—who missed last week’s near-upset of the Philadelphia Eagles due to his knee injury. He is officially questionable for the contest after two full sessions.

Here’s the full injury report as we hit the weekend:

Panthers WR Jalen Coker practices in full for second straight session on Thursday

Panthers rookie WR Jalen Coker appears to be on track to make his return in Week 15.

Carolina Panthers wideout Jalen Coker seems to be getting closer to making his return.

The rookie receiver, for the second consecutive session, was listed as a full participant for practice. Coker, who has recorded 17 catches for 263 yards and a touchdown this season, missed the last three games due to a quadriceps issue.

He was not joined, however, by fellow rookie Trevin Wallace. The linebacker, like on Wednesday, was a non-participant this afternoon because of a shoulder injury.

Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard among 5 DNPs at Wednesday’s practice

The Panthers held out RB Chuba Hubbard from a rainy practice on Wednesday.

The Carolina Panthers just lost one of their premier rushers to a season-ending injury, so they’re seemingly practicing some caution with the other.

Running back Chuba Hubbard was down as one of five non-participants for practice on a wet and rainy Wednesday. Hubbard, who eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the first time in his NFL career this past Sunday, was listed with a “rest” designation.

Joining Hubbard as a DNP was fellow back and primary kick returner Raheem Blackshear, who left the Week 14 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles due to a chest injury. The Panthers, in what appears to be an insurance measure, added a couple of return specialists in Velus Jones Jr. and Trenton Irwin on Tuesday.

Top photos from Eagles 22-16 win over Panthers that saw Saquon Barkley make history

Top photos from Eagles 22-16 win over Panthers that saw Saquon Barkley make history

The Eagles are 11-2, winners of nine straight games after a 22-16 win over the much improved Carolina Panthers (3-10) at Lincoln Fnaincla Field.

The afternoon saw Saquon Barkley break LeSean McCoy’s franchise record for rushing yards in a season. This set Philadelphia up for a huge intrastate matchup against the Steelers (10-3) in Week 15, which should certainly be the NFL’s game of the week.

With preparation for Pittsburgh set to begin, we’re looking at the top photos from Sunday’s win.

Panthers Week 14 inactives: TE Ja’Tavion Sanders active vs. Eagles

The Panthers are expecting to see the return of rookie TE Ja’Tavion Sanders, the team’s third-leading receiver in 2024.

The Carolina Panthers may not have one of their very top defenders at their disposal here in Week 14, but at least they’re getting back one of their top pass catchers.

As expected, tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders is active and is expected to make his return for today’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. The rookie was carted off from Week 12’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs after sustaining a scary neck injury and did not play the next week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Sanders is the third-leading receiver for the Panthers this season, behind only fellow rookie Xavier Legette and the departed Diontae Johnson—who was traded to the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 29. The 2024 fourth-round selection has reeled in 29 receptions for 302 yards and a touchdown.

Carolina will not, however, have outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney—the team leader in sacks (3.5) and pressures (30). The three-time Pro Bowler, who was listed as questionable for the contest on Friday, was downgraded to out on Saturday due to a knee injury.

Here is the full list of inactives on the afternoon for the Panthers:

  • CB Shemar Bartholomew
  • OLB Jadeveon Clowney
  • WR Jalen Coker
  • CB Akayleb Evans
  • CB Caleb Farley
  • OL Jarrett Kingston
  • S Jammie Robinson
  • S Nick Scott

And for the host Eagles:

  • S Reed Blankenship
  • S Sydney Brown
  • WR Britain Covey
  • OL Nick Gates
  • G Trevor Keegan
  • OT Darian Kinnard
  • QB Tanner McKee (Emergency QB)

Eagles vs Panthers: what to bet in today’s game

The Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) return home on Sunday to host the Carolina Panthers (3-9). While the Panthers have improved in the last month, the Eagles need every win to fight for the first seed in the NFC.

The Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) return home on Sunday to host the Carolina Panthers (3-9). While the Panthers have improved in the last month, the Eagles need every win to fight for the first seed in the NFC.

Right now on BetMGM, the Eagles are heavily favorited (-900) with the Panthers being huge road dogs (+600). The over/under is set at 46 total points at (-110) odds in either direction.

Here are some great bets to make for Sunday’s game, odds courtesy of BetMGM.

Panthers First Quarter (+230)

The Eagles have struggled this season to score in the first quarter, so I wouldn’t be surprised (nor worried) if the Panthers take the first quarter win. If you don’t want to take any money lines, this would be your smartest bet.

Jalen Hurts O 201.5 Passing Yards (-110)

At this point in the season, the Panthers are somewhat prepared for Saquon Barkley. In the chance that the Eagles make this game a game, they’ll need to rely on Hurts’ passing game. As they approach playoffs, the Eagles are going to need to keep the passing game strong.

DeVonta Smith Over 47.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

I don’t think BetMGM got the memo that Smith will be back in the game this weekend. He is going to have a baller game and likely come back like nothing left. The only logical reason why Smith would have under 47 yards is if coach Nick Sirianni limits his play time.
