Throwback Thursday: Remembering Alabama’s epic 2021 Iron Bowl victory

Remembering Alabama’s epic comeback in the 2021 Iron Bowl.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you wonderful folks that have decided to make Roll Tide Wire a part of your day! I hope your day is as full of love and thanksgiving as your belly is with turkey, dressing, and all the other holiday dishes.

Well, when Thanksgiving rolls around we know that means one thing in these parts: the Iron Bowl has arrived.

When Alabama and Auburn collide inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday afternoon, that will mark the 87th edition of one of the most historic and ferocious rivalries in all of the sports.

Before we get to Saturday’s matchup let’s take a trip down memory lane to one year ago when the Crimson Tide had one of the most epic comeback victories in Iron Bowl history.

Everything Nick Saban said on Monday of Austin Peay week

Everything Alabama football coach Nick Saban said on Monday of Austin Peay week.

Alabama’s final non-conference matchup of the 2022 regular season is now upon us. This Saturday the Crimson Tide will host Austin Peay before closing out the season against Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

As he does each Monday during the season, Crimson Tide head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] stepped behind the podium to discuss his team and the upcoming opponent.

Coach Saban would be very complimentary of Austin Peay during his press conference and made the point to express the need for his team to prepare for the Governors just as they would for any other game.

Here is everything coach Saban had to say:

Bryce Young delivers an incredible late fourth quarter touchdown to give Alabama a 21-17 lead

Bryce Young delivers another miraculous touchdown to give Alabama a late 21-17 lead over LSU.

Fans have been on the edge of their seats for the entirety of the top-ten matchup between No. 6 Alabama and No. 10 LSU.

Despite a very poor effort from the Crimson Tide for the majority of the contest, [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] and the Crimson Tide have taken a late 21-17 lead over the Tigers.

Young was able to miraculously avoid being sacked a handful of times before finding a streaking Ja’Corey Brooks for a 41-yard touchdown.

Alabama will look to hold off the Tigers with just under five minutes remaining in the SEC West matchup.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Young’s incredible touchdown pass to Brooks.

Everything Nick Saban said on Wednesday of LSU week

Everything that Alabama football coach Nick Saban said on Wednesday of LSU game week.

The countdown to the epic SEC West showdown between Alabama and LSU continues to dwindle. We are now just a little over two days away from the kickoff between the Tide and Tigers.

On Wednesday evening, Crimson Tide head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] took a few moments to speak to members of the media leading up to the top ten matchups.

Coach Saban understands the importance of the Alabama-LSU rivalry maybe more than anyone else having coached at both schools.

The head coach would preview the matchup with the Tigers as well as discuss a couple of the Crimson Tide players.

Here is everything Coach Saban had to say on Wednesday of LSU game week.

Offensive stat leaders as Alabama enters the bye week

Alabama’s offensive stat leaders as the Crimson Tide enters the bye week.

The Alabama football team has entered its bye week following eight straight weeks of rigorous clashing between the white lines. I’m not sure there is ever a lousy time for a bye week, but this one seems to come at a good time for [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Crimson Tide.

With limited news to report on the football team this week, I thought it might be a good time to offer up some stats from the season.

Today we are going to look at the offensive stat leaders which are obviously led by the reigning Heisman Trophy winner [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag].

Twitter reacts to Alabama’s touchdown drive to start to second half

Jalen Milroe connects with Ja’Corey Brooks for his third touchdown pass of the game.

After an up-and-down first half, [autotag]Jalen Milroe[/autotag] leads the Alabama offense down the field for a touchdown to start the second half. Milroe would connect with sophomore wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks for a 29-yard touchdown to extend the Tide’s lead to 24-14.

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs helped Alabama on the drive with a 28-yard run into Aggie territory. Gibbs has nearly reached the century mark with 97 yards on 11 carries.

Milroe is now 7 for 12 for 90 yards and three touchdowns and has added another 79 yards on the ground.

It didn’t take Alabama Twitter long to celebrate the Tide extending its second-half lead over the Aggies.

Report Card: Grading Alabama’s commanding win over Vanderbilt

Alabama completely dominated Vanderbilt on Saturday night with a 55-3 victory. Let’s take a look at the Crimson Tide’s report card for Week 4.

The Alabama football team started the 2022 SEC play off with a bang with a completely dominating victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday night, 55-3.

The Crimson Tide offense, led by quarterback [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag], put together what I believe to be the most complete performance of the season while [autotag]Will Anderson[/autotag] and the Alabama defense continues to show how stout they are after only surrendering a field goal against the Commodores.

Head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] believes that his team is improving each and every week but understands greater challenges are ahead on the schedule.

Let’s take a look at this week’s report card for the Crimson Tide.

First…the offense…

Check out some of the best moments from Alabama win over Vanderbilt!

Alabama took on the Vanderbilt Commodores to open up conference play for the 2022 season and the Crimson Tide came out on top with a final score of 55-3.

Through four weeks of college football, Alabama is a perfect 4-0. This win came courtesy of the consistent high level of play from quarterback Bryce Young and Will Anderson Jr., but others contributed in some major ways.

Now, the Crimson Tide’s focus will shift to Arkansas. The team will travel to Fayetteville for a top-25 showdown with SEC Championship implications.

Roll Tide Wire Player of the Game: Ja’Corey Brooks

Ja’Corey Brooks selected as Roll Tide Wire player of the week!

The Crimson Tide took care of business in their SEC opener against Vanderbilt with a convincing 55-3 victory. The loss extends Vanderbilt’s SEC losing streak to 22 games while Alabama is 4-0 headed to Top-10 Arkansas next week.

Bryce Young dazzled with four first-half touchdowns and Will Anderson Jr. did his thing with 2.5 sacks, however, the player that really stepped up this week was Ja’Corey Brooks. The Crimson Tide really wanted to get their receivers more involved headed into today and they achieved that. Brooks lead the way with six receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns.

Alabama has one of the most talented receiving cores in college football and it is great to see Bill O’Brien let the guys loose a little bit. Brooks was the hero in Auburn last year with his touchdown that forced overtime, so it is really great to see him find his stride again!
