Illinois 2024 Notre Dame target set to announce commitment tomorrow

Will the Irish be happy tomorrow?

The time has come for suburban Chicago wide receiver [autotag]Cam Williams[/autotag] to make his verbal pledge. Having known Williams since his freshman year, I can attest that his skill level is high and will be an impact player at the next level.

Not only have I seen Williams in camp settings, but also in-game where his skill set really shined. An extremely smooth route running, with great hands and body control, the six-foot-two-inch receiver will be an asset for either Iowa, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Michigan or Notre Dame. Williams will go live on CBS Sports HQ to announce his verbal pledge, at 8:00pm EST.

Currently the Irish have four commitments for the 2024 recruiting class: quarterback [autotag]CJ Carr[/autotag], defensive ends [autotag]Brandon Davis-Swain[/autotag] and [autotag]Owen Wafle[/autotag], and tight end [autotag]Jack Larsen[/autotag].

New TE target ‘really stoked’ about offer from Tigers

When Clemson formally turned the page to offering prospects in the 2024 class on Wednesday and started doling out offers to rising junior recruits, Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic’s Jack Larsen was the first tight end in his class to report an offer from the Tigers.

Despite having exams the morning of Thursday’s Swinney Camp, Larsen, a composite four-star, made sure he made his way down from Charlotte. He arrived at Clemson’s campus around 3 p.m. and rode over to the indoor practice facility.

He went over and saw Swinney. They chatted for a little bit and Clemson’s head coach offered him right there and then.

“I was pumped,” Larsen said. “Obviously, a Clemson offer — it’s a big offer — they don’t hand out a lot of them. That was an honor and I’m really stoked.”

“It means a lot, knowing that I’m probably at the top of the board right now,” he added. “It’s awesome to know that they think that highly of me. They’re definitely up there (in my recruitment), probably top-five right now with the schools that I’m looking at.”

To get an offer directly from Swinney meant that much more to Larsen.

“It was pretty cool,” Larsen explained. “I’m a big fan of him, just the way he handles things and goes about caring for his players and leading the team.”

Larsen wasn’t necessarily expecting an offer, but talking with Kyle Richardson prior, he had a little bit of an idea that it could possibly happen. After his meeting with Swinney, which resulted in a scholarship offer, he walked over to Richardson and chatted with some of Clemson’s tight ends and their position coach.

What’s Larsen’s relationship with Clemson’s tight ends coach/passing game coordinator?

“He’s awesome,” Larsen said. “He’s a great coach with a lot of experience. It’s kind of cool because he was a high school coach for a long time, so he’s kind of got both sides of high school coach and college coach. He can kind of relate back to what I’m going through and stuff. He’s a great coach and a great person. I really enjoy being around him.”

As far as the rest of his recruitment is concerned, Larsen’s plan is to narrow in on a set group of schools this summer. He’s at Notre Dame this weekend and is possibly looking to visit both the University of Alabama and Ohio State later this month.

A four-star tight end from the Tar Heel State in the 2024 class has added Clemson to his offer list.

Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic’s Jack Larsen announced the offer from the Tigers via social media Thursday evening after making an unoffcial visit during Thursday’s Swinney Camp.

The Clemson Insider last spoke with Larsen when he visited campus in March.

“I’m definitely gonna keep going back up there as much as I can and definitely go there in the summer and see what happens,” he said at the time.

Larsen — a 6-foot-3, 220-pound sophomore — ranks as the No. 2 tight end and the No. 47 overall prospect in the country for the class of 2024 according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

4-star TE: Clemson ‘everything I thought it was going to be and more’

The Clemson Insider caught up with an elite North Carolina-based tight end, who was on campus two weekends ago.

Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic four-star Jack Larsen — a  6-foot-3, 220-pound sophomore in the class of 2024 – was at Clemson for an unofficial visit on Saturday, March 12

“It was awesome,” Larsen said. “I had a blast. The coaches were awesome. This was my first time there and unsurprisingly so, it was awesome. It was everything I thought it was going to be and more.”

What did Larsen hear from Kyle Richardson, while he was on campus?

“He’s gonna keep recruiting me and keep coming down to my school,” Larsen said. “I think I’m gonna make it up there in the summer, probably end up camping there, but I’ll definitely be back there in the summer. He was talking about next time I come up, really honing in on how the tight end is used in the offense and stuff like that. First time down, just checking out everything and seeing everything for the first time.”

This wasn’t Larsen’s first time meeting Clemson’s tight ends coach and passing game coordinator. As TCI previously reported, Richardson stopped by Charlotte Catholic at the end of the live period in January to check in on Larsen, who is one of the program’s highly touted prospects.

However, this time around allowed him to spend an extended period of time with Richardson. Larsen indicated that his favorite part of his visit was getting a chance to meet with Richardson in a one-on-one setting for the first time and getting to talk to him outside of phone calls.

“He’s a great individual, a great person,” Larsen said of Richardson. “It was cool to talk some football with him, but also just talk about life and stuff that’s going on. He’s just a great guy and a great coach.”

Larsen believes there’s something to be said about how Clemson prioritizes relationships before it pulls the trigger on an offer.

“I’m definitely gonna keep going back up there as much as I can and definitely go there in the summer and see what happens,” he said.
