Raiders, Colts Thursday injury report: Colts still missing 3 starters

Colts still missing three starters at Thursday’s practice in prep to face Raiders

There was no change to the injury report Thursday for the Colts. And that was not good news because they had three starters missing on Wednesday and those same three starters were still missing on Thursday.

Starting left tackle Eric Fisher (knee/shoulder/toe), TE Jack Doyle (knee/ankle), and S Andrew Sendejo (concussion) were all missing once again for the Colts further jeopardizing their chances of playing in Sunday’s game.

The only change of any kind to the injury report for either team was Quinton Jefferson returning after resting on Wednesday. The Raiders have had only walk-thrus on Wednesday and Thursday.

The bigger issue for both teams remains those players on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The Raiders currently have 12 players on the list while the Colts have six players on the list including starting QB Carson Wentz who is unvaccinated.

If any of those players test negative, they can return should they be healthy enough to do so. The injured players are a different story. If they were healthy enough to play, they’d be practicing.

Colts’ Eric Fisher, Jack Doyle dealing with various injuries

Colts LT Eric Fisher and TE Jack Doyle are dealing with various injuries in Week 17.

Indianapolis Colts left tackle Eric Fisher and tight end Jack Doyle are dealing with various injuries as the team begins preparation for the Week 17 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Both players left the game against the Arizona Cardinals during the first half. It appears Fisher is dealing with three separate injuries while Doyle is dealing with two.

“In addition, just going to circle back on (Eric) Fisher and (Jack) Doyle. Eric Fisher is dealing with a knee, a toe and a pec,” Reich told the media Monday. “So, we’ll continue to monitor him day-by-day. Jack is dealing with an ankle and a knee, so same thing on him.”

With so many players on the reserve/COVID-19 list this week, the Colts may be without their entire starting offensive line when they host the Raiders on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Colts are likely to give the starting role to Mo Alie-Cox while bumping up the snaps for rookie Kylen Granson if Doyle is to miss time.

Colts’ Jack Doyle (ankle/knee) ruled OUT vs. Cardinals

Colts TE Jack Doyle has been ruled OUT vs. the Cardinals with ankle/knee injuries.

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle suffered an ankle/knee injury and was ruled out against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night.

The Colts are already down their three starting offensive linemen so losing Doyle in the run game is huge. Taking his place will be Mo Alie-Cox while fourth-round rookie Kylen Granson should get some more looks.

Doyle has 28 receptions for 291 yards and three touchdowns on the season.

Stock report from Colts’ 38-31 loss to Bucs

Evaluating stock from the Colts’ 38-31 loss to the Bucs in Week 12.

The Indianapolis Colts (6-6) suffered a tough loss at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday, falling 38-31 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-3).

Though this is a game the Colts could (and should) have won, a lack of a true consistent pass rush along with some ill-timed turnovers during the second half led to the disappearance of a 10-point lead coming out of halftime.

Even in the disappointing loss, there were some positive trends and negative trends on both sides of the ball.

Here’s the stock report from the Week 12 loss:

Colts’ PFF grades: Best and worst from Week 12 loss to Bucs

Here are the best and worst PFF grades from the Colts’ 38-31 loss to the Bucs.

The Indianapolis Colts (6-6) saw their three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday, falling 38-31 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-3) at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Despite leading 24-14 at halftime, costly turnovers in the second half of the game allowed the Bucs to mount a comeback. An interception on a deep shot, a muffed punt and a lack of consistent pass rush was all the momentum the Bucs needed to erase the deficit.

Here are the best and worst Pro Football Focus grades from the Week 12 loss:

Colts’ player of the game vs. Bucs: TE Jack Doyle

Jack Doyle is the Colts’ player of the game in Week 12 against the Bucs.

In a roller coaster of an afternoon, the Indianapolis Colts (6-6) drop a heartbreaker to the Super Bowl champs in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-3).

The 38-31 final came down to the final seconds, and while Indy struggled in parts of this game, it was tight end Jack Doyle who was a consistent force on offense in this one.

Doyle finished the game with six catches for 81 yards and a touchdown. He has been quiet all season, but certainly made his presence known today. He provided a safety blanket for Carson Wentz against a Buccaneers defense that dialed up the pressure.

Doyle is typically more of a component in the run game, but with the Colts struggling on the ground for a majority of this game, it was No. 84 who stepped up in a big way. Look for Doyle to get more involved in the passing game as the season goes on.

The Colts now sit at 6-6 with a winnable matchup against the Texans next week, with a bye after that. It’s the perfect week to rebound and head into the final stretch of the season healthy and hungry.

WATCH: Jack Doyle extends Colts’ lead over Bucs with TD

Jack Doyle finds the ends zone on a 15-yard catch!

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle may not be as involved in the passing offense this season but he made a huge play on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After cornerback Isaiah Rodgers intercepted Tom Brady on a deep pass, the Colts used this momentum to drive down the field for a score.

Doyle was the man on this play as the RPO opened up the tight end to get open down the sideline. This gave the Colts a 17-7 lead in the second quarter.

WATCH: Colts score TD on shovel pass to Jack Doyle

The Colts finally got a touchdown on the shovel pass!

It was going to happen at some point right? The Indianapolis Colts finally scored on the shovel pass against the New York Jets on Thursday night.

After Darius Leonard punched out another fumble (shocker), the Colts drove down the field with some big plays from Jonathan Taylor (also shocker). After going for it on fourth-and-one inside the five-yard line, Carson Wentz shoveled to Jack Doyle on an RPO for an easy score.

This score put the Colts up 21-7 with 4:59 remaining in the second quarter.

WATCH: Colts re-gain lead over Titans with Jack Doyle TD

TE Jack Doyle got the lead back for the Colts in the third quarter with this TD.

The Indianapolis Colts started out hot with a 14-0 lead but then saw the Tennessee Titans mount a comeback through the third quarter to take a 21-17 lead midway through the second half.

After a big defensive stop, the Colts got the ball with solid field position. Jonathan Taylor picked up a crucial third-down conversion and then Zach Pascal drew a 41-yard defensive pass interference call to set the Colts up at the five-yard line.

From there, it was an easy play call for Frank Reich. Carson Wentz found Jack Doyle for an easy five-yard touchdown to give the Cotls a 24-21 lead with just over a minute remaining in the third quarter.
