Freshman wide receiver Isaiah McMorris has entered the transfer portal

Nebraska Cornhuskers freshman wide receiver Isaiah McMorris is set to leave the program after just one season.

The former Bellevue West standout and Omaha native was a consensus three-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle. McMorris signed with the Huskers over offers from Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas Tech, USC, and Wisconsin among others.

He appeared in one game for the Huskers this season, he did not record any stats.

SEC program offers Nebraska commitment Isaiah McMorris

An SEC program is looking to flip one of Nebraska’s commits prior to the early signing period

New Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby is not wasting any time on the recruiting trail. Among the first offers extended by Lebby was to long-time Nebraska commitment Isaiah McMorris.

A native of Omaha and a standout at Bellevue West, McMorris has been committed to the Huskers since June 23, when he committed to the school prior to an official visit. At the time, he chose Matt Rhule and the Cornhuskers over offers from Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, USC, and Wisconsin.

Also among those offers was Jeff Lebby’s former employer, the Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners were among the top options early on in McMorris’s recruitment before he eventually chose to commit to Nebraska. But now, Lebby hoping to make a few big splashes before the December early signing period, is hoping to change McMorris’s mind over the next few weeks.

Under Lebby’s direction this season, the Oklahoma Sooners posted the third-best scoring offense in all of college football, averaging 43.2 points per game. The Sooners, in the process, had three receivers post over 500+ receiving yards, with Drake Stoops leading the way with 78 receptions for 880 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Mississippi State officially tabbed the long-time offensive coordinator on Sunday as the program’s next head coach. The Bulldogs administration is hoping that the former Baylor, UCF, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma assistant can quickly get the program back on track after going 5-7 this season under head coach Zach Arnett and interim head coach Greg Knox.

Arnett was fired as the program’s head coach after just ten games, with the Bulldogs amassing a 4-6 record, including 1-6 in conference play. The former defensive coordinator was originally named the program’s interim head coach last December following the tragic passing of then-head coach Mike Leach before being named the program’s full-time head coach a few days following Leach’s passing.

Bellevue West’s Jacob Arop receives preferred walk-on offer from Nebraska

Another member of Bellevue West’s football team announced big news in regard to Nebraska.

Another Bellevue West football team member announced big news regarding Nebraska. Offensive tackle Jacob Arop revealed on Twitter that he received a preferred walk-on offer from the Huskers.

Arop visited Nebraska back in April but didn’t announce that he received any offers. This is only the second official Division I Arop’s received. His first offer was from Northern Iowa back in February.

MaxPreps lists Arop at 6-6 280 pounds, and he was previously listed as a defensive end and a tight end. He will also be a part of Bellevue West’s basketball, helping his team complete a perfect season this past March.

If Arop walks on at Nebraska, he will add to the list of Thunderbirds heading to Nebraska for the 2024 season. Notable recruits from Bellevue West are quarterback Danny Kaelin, wide receiver Dae’vonn Hall and wide receiver Isaiah McMorris.

Oklahoma Sooners land commitment from four-star QB Michael Hawkins

Oklahoma lands commitment from 2024 quarterback Michael Hawkins!

After much anticipation, the Sooners have their quarterback for the 2024 recruiting class. Four-star quarterback Michael Hawkins committed to the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday.

Hawkins, an OU legacy, whittled his recruitment down to TCU and Oklahoma. Before TCU was a finalist, it was Arkansas due to Hawkins’ relationship with Kendal Briles. Briles left his offensive coordinator post at Arkansas to take the same position with the Horned Frogs following the departure of Garrett Riley to Clemson.

Hawkins’s familiarity with Jeff Lebby won out. TCU was also recruiting another quarterback in three-star prospect Hauss Hejny, a TCU legacy.

Hejny committed to TCU earlier this week, which seemed to be the writing on the wall of Hawkins to Oklahoma.

With Hawkins in the fold, Oklahoma’s quarterback room looks like one of the best in the country over the next few years. Dillon Gabriel is the starter in 2023. Getting Jackson Arnold’s signature for the 2023 cycle followed by Hawkins in 2024 and Kevin Sperry in 2025, the Sooners look loaded for their move to the SEC.

In landing Hawkins, the Sooners get a dual-threat QB with remarkable accuracy. He put that accuracy on display at the UA Next showcase earlier this year, when he took home the accuracy award.

Hawkins was named a Texas District 5-6A first-team selection as a junior at Allen High School before transferring to Frisco Emerson for his senior year.

Hawkins’ commitment also has ripple effects for the class of 2025. This puts Oklahoma closer to landing his former teammate at Allen High School, five-star tight end Davon Mitchell. It also makes Maliek Hawkins, Michael’s younger brother, a genuine candidate to be a Sooner come 2025 signing day.

Hawkins joins four-star cornerback Jeremiah Newcombe in the 2024 recruiting class.

Hawkins and the rest of the Sooners staff can now turn their attention to securing offensive talent in the 2024 recruiting class. The Sooners are hoping to land wide receivers Bryant Wesco, Zion Kearney, and Isaiah McMorris as well as a trio of running backs like Caden Durham, Xavier Robinson, Tovani Mizell.

Sooners pick up another crystal ball for 2024 WR Isaiah McMorris

The Oklahoma Sooners picked up a second crystal ball for one of the top players out of Nebraska, wide receiver Isaiah McMorris.

Nebraska has been a place the Sooners haven’t recruited often. With Brent Venables returning, they’ve opened their recruiting borders to every state, leaving no stone unturned.

In each of the last two recruiting classes, the Sooners have signed a player from the state of Nebraska, Kaden Helms in 2022, and Kade McIntrye in 2023. McIntyre will join the Sooners this summer.

In the 2024 class, Oklahoma has locked in on another Nebraskan, three-star receiver Isaiah McMorris.

Parker Thune of OUInsider logged a crystal ball in OU’s favor last week. Now Kansas State recruiting insider for 247Sports, Ryan Wallace, believes McMorris will eventually commit to OU.

Emmett Jones has covered a lot of ground in just a few months. He has Oklahoma peaking at the right time for a talented and dynamic playmaker from Bellevue, Nebraska.

McMorris is a quick wide receiver that displays a lot of juice in the slot or on the outside. He’s a yards after catch monster that is equally adept at running away from players as he is at making players miss. He can take a wide receiver screen to the house or blow by the secondary to win deep.

In short, McMorris looks like a perfect fit for the things Jeff Lebby asks his wide receivers to do.

247Sports insider projects three star WR Isaiah McMorris lands with Oklahoma

Oklahoma just earned its first crystal ball prediction in favor of them landing explosive three-star WR Isaiah McMorris out of Nebraska.

Oklahoma seems razor-focused on stocking up at receiver in the [autotag]2024 recruiting class[/autotag]. It’s looking possible they’ll take three receivers this cycle as opposed to the two wide receivers they took in 2022 and 2023.

One of their targets, Isaiah McMorris, just received a crystal ball prediction to land with the Sooners. 247Sports and OUInsider’s Parker Thune submitted a crystal ball favoring the Sooners on Friday.

McMorris, a three-star wide receiver from Bellevue, Nebraska, had 90 receptions for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior. He was an all-state selection and was named Nebraska’s Receiver of the Year in 2022. McMorris is a multi-sport athlete who plays basketball and competes in track and field.

On the football field, he’s a dominant presence winning from the slot and on the outside. McMorris showcased the ability to win vertically or take screens to the house while exhibiting some elite lateral agility to break defenders down.

He hails from the same high school as current Sooners’ tight end Kaden Helms. McMorris’ offer sheet includes Texas Tech, USC, Nebraska, and Penn State.

The three wide receivers in the 2024 class with projections favoring the Oklahoma Sooners are five-star [autotag]Bryant Wesco[/autotag], four-star [autotag]Zion Kearney[/autotag], and now three-star [autotag]Isaiah McMorris[/autotag].

McMorris just visited campus this week and left very satisfied with his time spent with wide receivers coach [autotag]Emmett Jones[/autotag] and head coach [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag].
