Thursday Night Football picks and prop bets: A truly Thursday night showdown between the Jets and Colts

Can Mike White make it two straight wins for New York?

On Monday, the football world was treated to a slopfest between the New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs. Three days later, the schedule gods have rewarded a beleaguered public with … the other very bad team from northern New Jersey.

The New York Jets (+10.5) will try to turn Week 8’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals into a bonafide streak — their first since a late rally cost them the No. 1 pick in last year’s draft — when they face the Indianapolis Colts. What once looked like a gimme for Frank Reich’s team will instead be a test. Can the Colts handle an understaffed Jets team and begin a march back to playoff contention? Or will New York realize its quarterback of the future wasn’t rookie Zach Wilson, but backup Mike White?

It’s probably not the latter, but we’ve got to at least address the idea after White threw for 404 yards to beat the then-AFC leading Bengals.

Let’s examine this matchup. All odds via Tipico.

First look: New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts odds and lines

Looking at Thursday Night Football’s New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts Week 9 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Jets stunned the Cincinnati Bengals 34-31 at MetLife Stadium Sunday behind backup QB Mike White, who made his first NFL start. New York has hit the Over in four consecutive outings.

The Colts were dropped 34-31 in overtime by the visiting Tennessee Titans. The non-cover snapped a 4-0 ATS run. The Over has connected in four of the past five for Indy.

Jets at Colts head-to-head

These teams met last season at Lucas Oil Stadium in Week 3, and the Colts thrashed the Jets by a 36-7 score as 12.5-point favorites with the Under (44) just coming in. There isn’t a lot to glean from that result, however, as QB Sam Darnold started for the Jets and is now with the Carolina Panthers, while QB Philip Rivers started for the Colts, and he is now retired.
