Raptors at Pacers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raptors 115, Pacers 106

Money line (ML)

There’s value on the RAPTORS (+100) at even money. They’ve won four of their last five games following an awful start to the season. Lowry was out Friday against the Miami Heat but four starters had at least 13 points and PG Terence Davis came off the bench for 12 points in 16:39 of playing time in one of Toronto’s most well-rounded games of the season.

The Pacers have won three of their last five but with Warren still sidelined by injury and LeVert not yet fit to play after being acquired via trade in exchange for SG Victor Oladipo, they’re just too shorthanded.

Indiana ranks second-to-last in the NBA in defending opponent 3-point attempts and Toronto is chucking a league-high 43.3 3-pointers per game. The Raptors also have a slight edge in rebounding and should force more Pacers turnovers than Indiana typically provides.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on the spread. It’s only a 1.5-point margin and we’re taking the Raptors for the modest road upset for a greater profit. Again, the Raptors’ 3-point shooting will be able to create separation in the scoring column.

Over/Under (O/U)

Lean slightly to the OVER 219.5 (-110). Toronto’s scoring will be able to come in bunches if any one of Fred VanVleetNorman Powell or OG Anunoby gets hot beyond the arc. Anunoby went 5-for-6 from 3-point range against the Heat Friday.

Magic at Pacers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 115, Magic 109

Money line (ML)

The PACERS (-165) are worth a small-unit play if you don’t want to lay the points. Indiana is on a two-game slide, including 0-2 SU/ATS in their past two at home. But they’re a better team than the Magic (+140) overall, and they’ll snap their skid in this one.

Against the spread (ATS)

The PACERS -3.5 (-110) can be trusted, even though they enter 2-4 SU/ATS across the past six. The Magic +3.5 (-110) are a bit dinged up, and they’re even worse against the number lately, entering on a 1-6 ATS slide across the past seven. Traditionally the Magic have had difficulties against the Pacers, especially against the spread, going 6-16 ATS in the previous 22 meetings overall.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 217.5 (-110) is the best play on the board, cashing in each of the past five meetings overall in this series, and seven straight battles at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Over is also 5-0 in Orlando’s past five against teams with a winning overall record, and 5-0 in Indiana’s past five against losing sides.

Dallas Mavericks at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Dallas Mavericks at Indiana Pacers NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Dallas Mavericks (6-7) stop by Bankers Life Fieldhouse Wednesday for a 7 p.m. ET game with the Indiana Pacers (8-5). Below, we analyze the Mavericks-Pacers NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Dallas is on a three-game losing skid and is just 1-3 (2-2 against the spread) since PF Kristaps Porzingis made his season debut Jan. 13 against the Charlotte Hornets. The Mavericks were boat raced in Tampa, Fla., against the Toronto Raptors (you read that right) 116-93 Monday. They continue to struggle offensively as the Mavs shot just 37.8% from the field (25% from behind the arc) and are 22nd in offensive rating on the season.

The Pacers went into Los Angeles on a two-game win streak but were drubbed this past Sunday 129-96 by the Clippers as 8-point road underdogs. Indiana was without its defensive anchor in C Myles Turner and it showed.

Indiana was abused defensively, being outscored 56-48 by Los Angeles in the paint and allowing the Clippers to hit 55.2% of their shots (48.7% on threes). The Pacers are back in Indiana following a four-game road trip in which they were 2-2 (2-2 ATS).

These teams split last season’s series with each winning and covering the spread as a road underdog. Ironically, the matchup the Mavs won was when they were missing MVP candidate Luka Doncic (a 112-103 win in February).

Mavericks at Pacers: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Mavericks -120 (bet $120 to win $100) | Pacers +100 (bet $100 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Mavericks -1.5 (-110) | Pacers +1.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 218.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Mavericks at Pacers: Key Injuries

Mavericks

  • SG Tim Hardaway Jr. (groin) probable
  • SF Dorian Finney-Smith (COVID-19) out
  • PF Maxi Kleber (COVID-19) out
  • Dwight Powell (COVID-19) out
  • SG Josh Richardson (COVID-19) out

Mavericks at Pacers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 111, Mavericks 105

Money line (ML)

Mavericks-Pacers is definitely a game where you’d want to follow the injury report because if Turner cannot play, this is a PASS. A struggling Dallas offense would really benefit if Indiana doesn’t have its best defender on the floor.

Otherwise, Indiana attacks the rim more than any team in the NBA and Dallas is terrible at defending at the rim. The Mavs are going to be without two bigs in Kleber and Powell, and an above-average wing defender in Finney-Smith.

Along similar lines, the Pacers get the fifth-most points per play on putbacks in the NBA according to CleaningTheGlass.com while the Mavericks give up the third-most points per play on putbacks. And, again, the Mavs are without a couple of bigs.

I like PACERS (+100) for a half-unit to pick up a win here (pending the final injury report).

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS ON THE SPREAD, stick with the money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

Dallas and Indiana are two of the top-5 transition defenses in the league and both run a below-average tempo offense. While Pacers opponents are shooting the second-highest percentage from 3-point range, Indiana at least does a good job of contesting threes (third in 3-pointers allowed) and the Mavs shoot the three at the 25th-best clip.

Finally, Indiana’s bench scores the third-fewest points per game and the Pacers are dealing with injuries as well. I’m on UNDER 218.5 (-110) for a half-unit.

Indiana Pacers at Los Angeles Clippers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Indiana Pacers at Los Angeles Clippers NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Indiana Pacers (8-4) are in Tinseltown Sunday for a 10 p.m. ET game against the Los Angeles Clippers (9-4) at Staples Center. Below, we analyze the Pacers-Clippers NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Indiana’s scheduled game against the Phoenix Suns Saturday was postponed because of COVID-19 concerns. The Pacers have won and covered in back-to-back games: Indiana beat the Golden State Warriors 104-95 Tuesday and the Portland Trail Blazers 111-87 Thursday.

The Clippers have won four of their last five and three straight, including a 138-100 beatdown they put on the Sacramento Kings Friday. Los Angeles wings Kawhi Leonard and Paul George continue to get buckets, combining for 53 points on 18-for-29 shooting (5-for-11 from deep) vs. the Kings.

Both have excelled offensively to start the season with the Clippers ranking first in offensive rating and the Pacers 10th. Los Angeles has won and covered its last two games vs. Indiana, but only one of those games was last season in the Kawhi-and-PG era Clippers.

Pacers at Clippers: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:39 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Pacers +195 (bet $100 to win $195) | Clippers -250 (bet $250 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Pacers +6.5 (-120) | Clippers -6.5 (+100)
  • Over/Under: 219.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Pacers at Clippers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Clippers 110, Pacers 107

Money line (ML)

PASS with a lean on Pacers (+195) since I’m betting Indiana plus points and often I’ll sprinkle on an underdog’s money line when taking them to cover. (The score is an honest projection).

Against the spread (ATS)

GIMME PACERS +6.5 (-120) for 1 unit. Not only is Indiana 4-0 ATS as an underdog, but the Pacers have won all four with three being road games. Los Angeles is just 2-4 ATS as a home favorite, and only two of those games were against teams positive in net rating (Dallas Mavericks Dec. 27 and Portland Trail Blazers Dec. 30). In fact, the Pacers are third in net rating while the Clippers are sixth.

Be sure to monitor the injury report and wait till before tip-off because the Pacers are a much better bet if the Clippers are without Williams and/or PG Patrick Beverley.

Over/Under (O/U)

Lean UNDER 219.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit for a few reasons. First, both these teams play at a below-average pace. Second, the Under correlates with our Pacers ATS bet because Indiana is 2-9 O/U in its last 11 games as underdogs. Third, Los Angeles is 1-7-2 O/U in its last 10 games vs. teams with a 60-plus winning percentage.

Pacers at Warriors: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Warriors 118, Pacers 114

Money line (ML)

The Pacers have lost two straight against teams they were favored to beat. Golden State has won two in a row and four of five in this homestand. It is the first time they have been favored in the homestand. This is the Pacers’ first back-to-back game of the season. Take the WARRIORS (-160).

Against the spread (ATS)

This is only the second time all season the Pacers are underdogs. They won the game outright against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Warriors are favored for only the third time this season and for the first time at home. They are 1-1 ATS in those games. They are 4-2 ATS on this homestand. Take the WARRIORS -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

Golden State is 4-6 O/U overall this season and its last three games have gone Under. However, Indiana’s last two games and three of four have gone Over, and they are 6-4 O/U overall. The Pacers have given up at least 125 points in their last two games. The Warriors have scored at least 115 in three of five. Take OVER 228.5 POINTS (-110).

Indiana Pacers at New Orleans Pelicans odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Indiana Pacers at New Orleans Pelicans NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Indiana Pacers (4-2) are in the Big Easy Monday to play the New Orleans Pelicans (4-2) at Smoothie King Center. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Pacers-Pelicans NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions

The Pacers were upset 106-102 as 9.5-point home favorites by the New York Knicks Saturday. Indiana had a hard time getting easy buckets shooting 40.5% from the field. The Pacers were outscored 56-26 in the paint, and were out-rebounded 60-37.

New Orleans gritted its way past the Toronto Raptors at home. The Pelicans 120-116, as 1-point dogs Saturday. They outrebounded the Raptors 67-46 and shot 20 more free throws. Their leading scorer this season, SF Brandon Ingram, had a game-high 31 points on 8-for-17 field-goal shooting and 11-for-14 from the foul line.

The Pelicans won and covered in both meetings last year: 124-117 as 5-point underdogs in Indiana and 120-98 at home as 1.5-point home favorites.

Pacers at Pelicans: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 115, Pelicans 108

Money line (ML)

This is a perfect spot to sell-high with the Pelicans and buy-low with the Pacers. The Pelicans’ rebounding edge for the season is scary but aside from their two wins over a Raptors team—whose legitimacy as an Eastern Conference contender is on stand-by—New Orleans has been rolled by the other good teams it played.

Indiana has a higher net rating and a positive net in effective field-goal percentage (.561 offensive eFG% vs. .534 defensive eFG%) whereas New Orleans has a negative net eFG%.

GIMME PACERS (+105) for 1.5 units.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS ON THE SPREAD. I’ll forgo the measly 1.5 points of Indiana insurance and use my Pacers-Pelicans budget on the money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

If you haven’t been paying attention, this Indiana team has mutated its style under first-year head coach Nate Bjorkgren. The Pacers are sixth in offensive rating this season (19th in 2019-20) and are up from being dead-last in 3-point rate last season to a modest 18th under Bjorkgren.

Also, I don’t put much stock into New Orleans’ third-ranked defensive rating because three of its opponents (Raptors, Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder) are among the least efficient offenses in the NBA.

I’ll TAKE OVER 216.5 (-115) for 1 unit.

Knicks at Pacers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 119, Kicks 105

Money line (ML)

Indiana loses some offensive firepower in Warren but the Knicks already lost handily to the Pacers in the season opener 121-107. New York scores the fewest points per game in the league at 100.8 and has one of the worst average point differentials in the Eastern Conference at minus-4.4, while the Pacers are fourth in the league in differential at plus-9.8.

It is hard to expect much of a different outcome. If you must go with the money line, where there isn’t much value, go PACERS (-450). There’s much better value on the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

Both the Knicks and Pacers covered the spread in their wins and failed to in their losses. New York hasn’t been favored yet this season. Indiana is 3-1 ATS. Take the PACERS -9.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The teams combine to average more than 217 points on offense. New York is 2-3 O/U while Indiana is 3-2 O/U. The two combined for 228 points in their first meeting. This game should not be much different in the end. Take OVER 215.5 (-110).

Cavaliers at Pacers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 117, Cavaliers 105

Money line (ML)

Pacers (-300) are a good bet to win at home, but laying three times your potential return is not a good long-term betting strategy unless you toss it into a multi-team parlay. Betting -300 in a standalone bet might have you drinking that cheap dollar store wine in a box to ring in the new year instead of the good stuff if you do it enough. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

PACERS -7.5 (-105) seems like a tall order, but consider the series history. Even when LeBron was on the Cavaliers (-115), they’re more like their old moniker in Cleveland, ‘the Cadavers’, when it comes to facing Indiana. The Cavs are just 9-22-2 ATS in the past 33 meetings with the Pacers, and 2-6 ATS in their past eight sojourns to Indianapolis.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 216.5 (-110) is the way to go in this game, although you’ll be going against the series trends that point to the Under in overwhelming fashion. In the past 17 meetings the Under is 11-5-1, including 8-1 in the past nine battles in Indy.

However, Indiana has hit the Over in each of their past seven homes games against a team with a winning road mark, and the Over is 17-7 in their past 24 following a straight-up loss. Cleveland has also hit the Over in 15 of the past 21 road games against a team with a winning home record, and they’re 13-4 in the past 17 following a non-cover.

Celtics at Pacers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 112, Celtics 109

Money line (ML)

Let’s take the value with the PACERS (+100) as even-money underdogs at home. They just beat the Celtics 108-107 Sunday and covered the spread as 2.5-point underdogs.

PF Domantas Sabonis is leading Indiana with 24.3 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game. SG Victor Oladipo sat out Sunday’s contest for rest but should return with 22 points scored in each of his two games this season.

The Celtics have been struggling without Walker to start the season. F Jayson Tatum and SG Jaylen Brown are averaging 25.0 and 26.0 PPG, respectively, but no other player is in double digits and only PG Marcus Smart is averaging more than 4 assists per game (6.3 APG).

Boston will get right eventually and contend in the Eastern Conference, but it won’t start in a rematch against the balanced attack of Indiana.

Against the spread (ATS)

Take the insurance and go with the PACERS +1.5 (-115), though it’s not as rewarding as the money line play. It’ll serve us well to hedge against some potential late-game free throws. The two teams split last season’s head-to-head series 1-1 with both games played within a 5-point margin.

Over/Under (O/U)

Bet the OVER 218.5 (-110). Sunday’s contest saw a total of just 115 points scored, but the two meetings in the 2019-20 campaign saw totals of 139 and 125 points scored.

The fear is with the Celtics struggling to hold up their end of the bargain with Walker’s absence hurting ball movement, but Oladipo’s return to the lineup will provide a boost to the overall total.
