Commanders vs. Eagles: Inactive list for NFC championship game

The inactives are in for the NFC championship game for the Eagles and Commanders.

The Washington Commanders shocked everyone on Saturday by downgrading defensive tackle Daron Payne from questionable to out. Payne broke a finger two weeks ago and was also dealing with a knee injury he suffered last week. Sunday’s NFC championship against the Philadelphia Eagles will only be the second game Payne has ever missed since entering the NFL in 2018.

So, as the Commanders prepare to face the Eagles for the third time this season — this time for a trip to the Super Bowl — Payne’s name headlines Washington’s inactive list alongside guard Sam Cosmi. Cosmi injured his ACL in last week’s win at Detroit and is out for the remainder of the playoffs.

Here are the Commanders’ inactives:

  • 13 WR K.J. Osborn
  • 16 QB Jeff Driskel (Emergency 3rd QB)
  • 24 CB Michael Davis
  • 36 RB Chris Rodriguez Jr.
  • 45 LB Dominique Hampton
  • 76 G Sam Cosmi
  • 94 DT Daron Payne

The Eagles are at full strength for today’s game as center Cam Jurgens, who was a game-time decision with a back injury, is active. Also, quarterback Jalen Hurts and tight end Dallas Goedert, both dealing with injuries, are in the starting lineup.

Here are the Eagles’ inactives:

  • QB Tanner McKee
  • CB Eli Ricks
  • DB Lewis Cine
  • OL Nick Gates
  • OL Darian Kinnard
  • G Trevor Keegan
  • WR Ainias Smith

Hendon Hooker highlight the Lions inactive players vs Commanders

Hendon Hooker highlight the Lions inactive players vs Commanders

The long-anticipated changing of the guard at backup quarterback is now official for the Lions. Veteran Teddy Bridgewater is the new No. 2 QB for Detroit as the playoff games begin.

Bridgewater had been the emergency-only No. 3 QB, inactive on game days ever since re-signing with the Lions late in the year. That status has now changed. Bridgewater is active for Saturday night’s divisional round matchup against the Washington Commanders. Rookie Hendon Hooker is inactive and the designated third QB for this one.

The rest of the inactive include two players ruled out on the final injury report in RG Kevin Zeitler and DL Pat O’Connor.

The Packers have LB Quay Walker, S Evan Williams and DL TJ Slaton active and available for Sunday against the Eagles in the NFC Wild Card Round.

The Green Bay Packers made five players inactive for Sunday’s NFC Wild Card Round showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The big news: Linebacker Quay Walker, safety Evan Williams and defensive lineman TJ Slaton are all active and available despite being listed as questionable. The starting trio will be important for the spine of the Packers defense against 2,000-yard rusher Saquon Barkley. Walker and Williams are returning after missing three straight games to end the regular season.

Receiver Christian Watson (knee) and safety Zayne Anderson (concussion) were both ruled out on Friday’s injury report. Offensive tackle Andre Dillard — who is coming off a concussion — and tight end Ben Sims are also inactive, and quarterback Sean Clifford is inactive as the emergency third quarterback.

Sims played in all 17 regular season games but is a healthy scratch for Sunday. John FitzPatrick is active as the third tight end behind Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave.

The Packers are also returning defensive end Brenton Cox Jr., who missed the season finale but had four sacks in his final seven games of 2024.
