Commanders’ Week 9 inactives vs. Giants

The Commanders’ Week 9 inactive list is out. Bad news on Brian Robinson Jr.

The Washington Commanders released their inactive list before Sunday’s Week 9 showdown against the New York Giants. In some tough news, running back Brian Robinson Jr. is inactive and will not play against the Giants.

Robinson was listed as questionable on Friday’s final injury report with a hamstring injury. The third-year running back rushed for 133 yards against New York in September and has averaged 83 rushing yards per game in his career vs. the Giants.

Offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas is out with an injury. The Commanders ruled him out Friday. His co-starter at left tackle, rookie Brandon Coleman, is active and will start. Coleman missed last week’s game with a concussion.

Here’s Washington’s list of Week 9 inactives:

  • OT Cornelius Lucas
  • QB Jeff Driskel
  • RB Brian Robinson Jr.
  • S Darrick Forrest
  • TE Colson Yankoff
  • LB Dominique Hampton

Washington elevated Chris Rodriguez Jr. from the practice squad in anticipation of Robinson missing the game. So, the Commanders will have a running back rotation of Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols and Rodriguez.

Saints injury update: Inactive players for Week 8 game vs. Chargers

Here are the Week 8 inactives for the New Orleans Saints’ matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers. A recently-signed wide receiver won’t play just yet:

Only two players were listed as out due to injury on the Friday injury report for the New Orleans Saints, and one player was doubtful. This ended up with three players out due to injury on gameday, and four healthy inactives for the game as well. There are some surprises on this list, but nothing exceptionally concerning overall, while the Los Angeles Chargers had a few players out due to injury this week on the other side.

The Saints held out a few rookies on the healthy inactive list which is one of the more intriguing developments, including Jaylan Ford, Dallin Holker, and Khristian Boyd. They will also hold out recent addition Marquez Valdes-Scantling, presumably to allow him more time to get into the system and get ready for gameday next weekend instead.

All of the injured inactives for the Saints entered the game with an injury designation of doubtful or worse, so those three were all expected more or less. The remaining players on the report will be available, which is a huge notion for a Saints team that has struggled immensely with injuries the past few weeks. Their “mini-bye” since “Thursday Night Football” helped get things cleared up no doubt.

Here is the full inactive lists for the Saints and Chargers this week:

New Orleans Saints inactive players:

  • QB Derek Carr (oblique)
  • WR Cedrick Wilson Jr. (hip)
  • G Nick Saldiveri (shoulder)
  • WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling
  • LB Jaylan Ford
  • TE Dallin Holker
  • DT Khristian Boyd

Los Angeles Chargers inactive players:

  • WR Quentin Johnston (ankle)
  • QB Easton Stick (emergency third quarterback)
  • WR Derius Davis (hamstring)
  • TE Hayden Hurst (groin)
  • OL Jordan McFadden
  • DL Justin Eboigbe

Commanders Week 7 inactive list vs. Panthers

Brian Robinson is in. Dorance Armstrong is out. Week 7 inactives.

The Washington Commanders (4-2) host the Carolina Panthers in Week 7 action from Northwest Stadium. The Commanders revealed their inactives for Sunday’s game, led by starting defensive end Dorance Armstrong.

  • DE Dorance Armstrong
  • QB Jeff Driskel
  • S Tyler Owens
  • G Chris Paul
  • LB Dominique Hampton

Armstrong suffered a rib injury during last week’s loss at Baltimore and was ruled out on Friday. Driskel will serve as Washington’s third quarterback. Owens continues to miss time with a shin injury.

As Adam Schefter reported on Saturday, starting running back Brian Robinson Jr. will play. Robinson has been dealing with a knee injury for three weeks and missed last week’s game. He leads the Commanders with 325 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Carolina’s lengthy injury report for Friday listed six players out and three as doubtful. Wide receiver Diontae Johnson, one of those listed as questionable, will play.

Here are the Panthers’ inactives:

  • OLB Jadeveon Clowney
  • LB Josey Jewell
  • LB Jon Rhattigan
  • LB Claudin Cherelus
  • RT Taylor Moton
  • TE Tommy Tremble
  • DE A’Shawn Robinson

Commanders’ Week 6 inactive list vs. Ravens

Running back Brian Robinson Jr. headlines Commanders’ Week 6 inactives.

The Washington Commanders revealed their Week 6 inactive list ahead of the big showdown against the Baltimore Ravens. Starting running back Brian Robinson Jr. headlines the list. The Commanders ruled Robinson out on Saturday with a knee injury. Robinson leads Washington with 325 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Austin Ekeler will receive more touches in the running game, while Jeremy McNichols will also see an increased usage. The Commanders signed second-year running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. from the practice squad.

Here is Washington’s complete inactive list vs. Baltimore:

  • RB Brian Robinson Jr.
  • G Chris Paul
  • CB Emmanuel Forbes
  • LB Dominique Hampton
  • DE Jamin Davis
  • S Tyler Owens
  • QB Jeff Driskel

With Forbes out, Washington is going light on cornerbacks, which likely means less Nickel and more traditional seven and eight-man fronts against Baltimore’s potent rushing offense and running back Derrick Henry.

Here are the Ravens’ list of inactives:

  • LB Malik Harrison
  • LB Adisa Isaac
  • C Nick Samac
  • G Sala Aumavae-Laulu
  • WR Devontez Walker
  • DE Broderick Washington

Commanders’ Week 5 inactive list vs. Browns

Darrick Forrest is active for the first time this season.

The Washington Commanders released their inactive list ahead of the Week 5 contest with the Cleveland Browns and it contained two quarterbacks. Veteran Marcus Mariota was activated from the reserve/injured list Saturday, leaving Washington with four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster.

With Mariota healthy, he returns as the backup to Jayden Daniels, leaving four quarterbacks on the roster — for now. That likely changes next week. Also on the Week 5 inactive list is wide receiver Noah Brown, a key contributor over the last three games.

Here’s the full inactive list:

  • QB Sam Hartman
  • QB Jeff Driskel
  • WR Noah Brown
  • G Chris Paul
  • LB Dominique Hampton
  • S Tyler Owens
  • DE Clelin Ferrell

With the rookie Owens sidelined, Darrick Forrest is active for the first time this season. This is the third consecutive game that Ferrell has missed after he picked up a sack in each of the Commanders’ first two games.

Here is Cleveland’s Week 5 inactive list:

The most significant names on this list are right tackle Jack Conklin and linebacker Jordan Hicks.

Who are the Inactives for the Commanders vs the Bengals?

Each NFL team must list seven players inactive, allowing only 46 to be active during regular season games.

NFL teams rosters are 53 men; however, only 46 are active each game.

Here are the inactives for tonight’s Week 3 contest between the Washington Commanders and the Cincinnati Bengals.

COMMANDERS

  • CB Emmanuel Forbes
  • QB Sam Hartman
  • S Darrick Forrest
  • TE Colson Yankoff
  • LB Dominique Hampton
  • G Chris Paul
  • DE Clelin Ferrell

Dan Quinn mentioned Saturday that Emmanuel Forbes, recovering from thumb surgery, might return for Week 4.

Sam Hartman, barring injury, will most likely be inactive for all 17 games this season.

Darrick Forrest has yet to play in 2024, being inactive in all three games.

This is the first game Colson Yankoff is being listed as inactive.

This is the third consecutive game Hampton is an inactive player.

Chris Paul has been inactive for all three games in 2024.

This is the first game Clelin Ferrell is inactive (knee injury).

BENGALS

  • WR Trenton Irwin
  • G Jaxson Kirkland
  • TE Tanner McLachlan
  • TE Tanner Hudson
  • DT Sheldon Rankins
  • DT B.J. Hill

Commanders’ Week 2 inactive list vs. Giants

Jamin Davis a surprise inactive for Week 2.

The Washington Commanders (0-1) host the New York Giants (0-1) on Sunday in their home opener.

Which players on the 53-man roster will not be suiting up for Washington in Week 2? Here are the Commanders’ Week 2 inactives vs. the Giants.

  • No. 13 CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr.
  • No. 15 Sam Hartman (Emergency QB)
  • No. 22 S Darrick Forrest
  • No. 45 LB Dominique Hampton
  • No. 52 DE Jamin Davis
  • No. 75 G Chris Paul
  • No. 80 WR Jamison Crowder

The surprise here: Jamin Davis. Davis, in his transition to edge rusher, played 20 snaps last week and made a couple of splash plays, earning praise from head coach Dan Quinn. Instead of playing Davis in a pass-rushing role, the Commanders chose to elevate veteran defensive end Carlos Watkins from the practice squad.

No surprises from New York’s side.

Commanders’ Week 1 inactive list vs. Buccaneers

Who is in and who is out for the Commanders and Buccaneers in Week 1?

The Washington Commanders revealed their inactive list for the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, and it contained at least one surprise.

First, here are the inactives:

  • QB Sam Hartman
  • WR Noah Brown
  • S Darrick Forrest
  • LB Dominique Hampton
  • G Chris Paul
  • DT Jer’Zhan Newton

Brown was signed late last month after the Texans released him, and he was immediately expected to have a significant role for Washington on special teams and at wide receiver. Brown could still be getting up to speed on the offense before the Commanders play him.

Newton missed practice last week, but head coach Dan Quinn believes he’s close to a full return.

Hartman was promoted to the active roster on Saturday when Washington placed Marcus Mariota on the reserve/injured list with a designation to return.

A list of Commanders not playing in the preseason finale

Does this list give a clue about which players are safe?

The Washington Commanders host the New England Patriots in the preseason finale on Sunday. The team announced that 34 players will not play vs. New England.

On Friday, head coach Dan Quinn informed the media that quarterback Jayden Daniels would not play. With Daniels not playing, that likely meant Washington would rest most — if not all — of its starters.

Does the list of inactive players likely give clues as to which Commanders are safe for the 53-man roster? Probably. Washington and the other 31 NFL teams must trim their roster to 53 players by Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Here’s Washington’s inactive list for Sunday’s game against the Patriots.

  • No. 0 Marcus Mariota
