Five-star forward, Notre Dame target to announce college decision

Hope she picks the Irish!

Even with Notre Dame set to have a fantastic 2024-25 season, there’s no reason to get complacent with the period beyond that. The Irish want to keep the good times going for as long as possible. Landing one particular player would help that cause in a big way.

Deniya Prawl originally hails from Toronto, but she’s been developing her game at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. She’s become a five-star small forward according to 247Sports and is ranked sixth in the 2025 recruiting class.

The Irish are one of three finalists for Prawl’s services alongside Tennessee and Baylor. She has announced that she’ll make her decision Nov. 11.

As of this moment, the only 2025 commit for the Irish is [autotag]Leah Macy[/autotag], another five-star forward who made her decision in May. While the Irish obviously have a solid player coming in already, it would help immensely to have another one, especially when women’s basketball is getting more attention than ever:

Best of luck to Prawl in making her decision, though we obviously hope she picks the Irish.

Four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng puts USC in top six

USC is one of the final six schools for a four-star linebacker, though Notre Dame is believed to be the leader in this recruitment.

On Monday evening, four-star IMG Academy Bradenton (Florida) linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng narrowed his list of finalists to six, including the USC Trojans.

Owusu-Boateng also added Texas, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan and Florida to his final list. Owusu-Boateng took official visits to USC, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan during the summer official visit window and he is now scheduled to take an official visit to Texas for the Georgia game on October 19 in Austin.

Keep in mind that Owusu-Boateng is the brother of Cleveland Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who played his college career at Notre Dame, so that could have a major influence on his commitment in the near future.

Owusu-Boateng is the No. 8 linebacker in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 73 overall prospect. He is also the No. 11 recruit out of the talent-rich state of Florida.

Notre Dame currently sits as the On3 RPM favorite at 30.8 percent, followed by Florida at 21 percent, Ohio State at 12.9 percent, and Michigan and USC at 8.7 percent.

Former LSU defensive back listed as a top 10 all-time former IMG Academy player

Former LSU defensive back Grant Delpit comes in at the No. 7 spot in On3’s list of the top 10 alumnus from IMG Academy.

Former LSU defensive back [autotag]Grant Delpit[/autotag] comes in at the No. 7 spot in On3’s list of the top 10 alumni from [autotag]IMG Academy[/autotag] ranked by how highly they were taken in the NFL draft.

Delpit was taken with the 44th pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns. Since joining the Browns, Delpit has become one of their best players as he starts at safety for them. He has played in 45 games over three years with the team and has made 222 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and six interceptions.

While at LSU, Delpit was a three-year starter and played in 40 games for the Tigers. He finished his career with 199 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles and eight interceptions.

Delpit was on his way to his best season with the Browns last year, leading the team with 77 tackles after 13 games, but then his season was derailed by a groin injury. Hopefully, he will have an incredible 2024.

5-star Michael Carroll, an Alabama football commit, announces transfer to IMG Academy

Michael Carroll is transferring to IMG Academy.

Five-star offensive lineman Michael Carroll, an Alabama commit, announced on Wednesday that he is set to transfer to IMG Academy.

Carroll, who had played for Central Bucks East (Doylestown, Pennsylvania), is the No. 12 recruit in the nation according to On3. In the On3 Industry Rankings, he is the top-ranked interior offensive lineman in the nation and the second-best recruit in Pennsylvania in the class of 2025.

Carroll committed to Alabama in June over offers from Baylor, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Penn State, South Carolina and Tennessee among others.

IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida) finished 10-0 last season. They were the fifth-best team in the nation in the final USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25.

The highly-rated recruit will have someone very familiar with him on the IMG Academy roster, his brother.

Liam Carroll, the younger brother of Michael Carroll, also announced on Thursday his transfer to IMG.

A 6-foot-2 athlete in the class of 2027, Liam Carroll already holds an offer from Penn State.

Wisconsin basketball extends offer to top-100 class of 2025 small forward

Wisconsin basketball extends offer to top-100 class of 2025 small forward

Wisconsin men’s basketball program extended an offer to class of 2025 small forward Amari Allen on Friday, per his recent post on X.

The news arrives four days after the Badgers locked in an official visit with top-ranked in-state SF on Monday. He is slated to visit Madison the weekend of Sept. 13, the same weekend UW will play Alabama at Camp Randall.

Allen will also take official visits to Minnesota and the University of Central Florida.

247sports, On3, ESPN and Rivals all consider Allen a four-star recruit. He’s ranked as 247Sports’ No. 100 player in the class of 2025, No. 18 small forward and No. 11 recruit from the state of Florida.

Of his 25 offers, the most notable include Creighton, Auburn, Indiana, Iowa, Marquette, Tennessee, Villanova, Georgetown and Virginia Tech.

Despite being considered a Florida prospect, the 6-foot-7, 180-pounder played basketball at Kaukauna High School in Kaukauna, Wisconsin before joining Bradenton, Florida’s IMG Academy.

Greg Gard’s current class of 2025 ranks within the nation’s top 10 with two athletes committed: four-star shooting guard Zach Kinziger and three-star center Will Garlock.

Given Allen’s prestige in national rankings and in-state ties, the Badgers appear to be preparing an impressive official visit with the Crimson Tide football team in town. His commitment would be nothing short of monumental for a team looking to reclaim postseason success in a loaded 18-team Big Ten.

Above the Rim and Beyond the Court: Olivier Rioux, the world’s tallest teen, is more than just a basketball player

The 7-foot-9 Florida Gators commit is turning heads and and off the court — in more ways than one.

Olivier Rioux, best known as the Montrealer giant on the IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) basketball team, is more than a basketball player — he takes pleasure in the arts, raving about abstract aquarelle. He is interested in biology and astronomy, saying he absolutely believes aliens are real, for “if we’re the only beings alive, it’s scarier.”

It’s fitting because Rioux is among the new wave of basketball players who have never been seen before.

Standing at 7-foot-9 inches and 290 pounds—an updated spurt since last year, when he was closer to 7-foot-7—the University of Florida basketball commit stands taller than Chet Holmgren, taller than Bol Bol, taller than Victor Wembanyama — all who are changing how the basketball world sees players who are that tall.

(USA TODAY Network)

“(Wembanyama) is growing basketball for us, for the tall guys,” Rioux said. “I’ve seen him train and know some of his training and know some of the work he does. I like it. He owns it.”

Listed at 7-foot-4, Wembanyama undergoes training that has helped to alleviate bodily stress that often plagues players of this stature. His mobility is outstanding, and he looks fluid on the court the way few players of his size do.

“He can do the splits. I don’t know if you understand how big that is, for a big man, but doing the splits for us is very hard,” Rioux said.

The high school senior ices his body, does blood flow drills that essentially require him to lay with his back on the ground and legs up against the wall, and does some yoga.

Rioux spent two days last year with former Chicago Bulls center and longtime team radio color commentator Bill Wennington. The 7-footer who spent 15 years playing professional basketball, 13 in the NBA, gave Rioux advice about the game and health while the two played ping pong, faced off in chess, and tested the French knowledge of Wennington, another Canadian.

Following in the footsteps of guys like Wennington has long been Rioux’s ambition. He started playing basketball seriously at the age of 8, by which point he was already standing 6-foot-1. By the sixth grade, he was 6-foot-11, and then, over the summer before seventh grade, he crossed the 7-foot mark. For that, he has made his basketball career working in the post under the guidance of Pascal Jobin, who has coached at Cégep Édouard Montpetit and McGill University.

(USA TODAY Network)

Rioux’s offensive game features a lot of dribble-handoffs and setting screens. He said he knows how to pass the ball well and has good timing when deciding when to shoot, but he’s still gaining comfort shooting from further out. He knows that being tall isn’t enough in the NBA; successful careers for players of this stature have been centered around height, strength, mobility, and versatility.

While Dirk Nowitzki ushered in the era of big men who could shoot, he also was a precursor of general managers scouting for bigs who could create offense away from the paint. Giannis Antetokounmpo, at 6-foot-11, led the Milwaukee Bucks to a championship because he can be a primary ballhandler and create for himself and his teammates. Nikola Jokic has melded the roles of center and point guard better than any other player in history and rode that skill to a title.

Bol is still in the league in large part because his guard-like abilities are so tantalizing for an athlete who stands 7-foot-3. The Oklahoma City Thunder traded up to draft 7-foot Aleksej Pokusevki because he was someone who moved fluidly, dribbled and passed well, and could shoot. Wembanyama can dominate at the rim, but he’s also mobile, can create off the dribble, and is comfortable running plays at the top of the arc beyond setting a screen.

Even when it comes to blocking shots, which Rioux is predictably adept at, he vouches for the importance of being mobile.

“It’s more mobility and length that helps you,” he said. “It’s both.”

In the U-16 FIBA games, he averaged 8.3 points and 10.3 rebounds in 18.8 minutes per game. This summer, at the age of 17, he played for the Canadian U-19 team. He saw limited playing time—three minutes of action in three of the five games he played—but recorded a total of seven rebounds in those three matchups. In the final game, 12 minutes against Japan, he recorded 10 points and five rebounds.

At IMG, he is working on his game while splitting time between the IMG Varsity Blue roster and the program’s national team. Rioux was with the national team during the City of Palms Classic over the weekend before Christmas, getting three minutes of action against Richmond Heights. He’ll keep growing — maybe literally, as his stated height of 7-foot-7.5 in the interview with USA TODAY High School Sports was taller than the various heights listed around different outlets — before heading to Florida, where he committed in early November.

(Note: Since the original publication, Rioux has grown, having now been listed at the aforementioned 7-foot-9.)

Rioux was attracted to the environment of the campus and people at the university. He’s unsure what he plans to study — with an interest in physics, biology, and art, who’s to say?

“It’s a good environment and people are very nice. I felt like I would fit in that program and the people are very mature,” Rioux said. “I felt like I could get taught a lot of stuff.”

Ohio State football offers 2026 elite Florida offensive tackle Keenyi Pepe

The Buckeyes are trying to strike gold at IMG once again. #GoBucks

Ohio State football traditionally has done well recruiting the state of Florida, and one of the supremely talented schools that it focuses on is IMG Academy in Bradenton.

The Buckeyes have recently seen wide receiver Carnell Tate play there, while current commits, linebacker Tarvos Alford and defensive lineman London Merritt, are currently starring there. Ohio State is also working hard on linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, who is set to visit this coming weekend.

IMG isn’t just talented in the upcoming class, the ones below also are full of big-time prospects. That’s why the offer to offensive tackle [autotag]Keenyi Pepe[/autotag] isn’t at all surprising. The 6-foot, 7-inch, 295-pound lineman is ranked as the No. 45 overall prospect and 7th offensive tackle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Already a national prospect, Pepe has the frame and ability to be a mainstay on anyone’s offensive line. He was a MaxPreps Freshman All-American, and more accolades are most likely in his future. Hopefully it’s as an Ohio State Buckeye.

Notre Dame makes top six for elite 2025 linebacker

Notre Dame makes the cut for a standout linebacker

Notre Dame has had their share of great linebackers recently but the skill across the position has often left a bit to be desired.

As [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag], [autotag]Al Golden[/autotag], and the rest of the Notre Dame work to improve that, they received good news on Sunday as one of their biggest remaining targets in the 2025 recruiting class announced the Fighting Irish in his top-six.

Notre Dame joined the likes of Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, and Stanford in Gavin Nix’s top-six.

247Sports has Nix pegged as a four-star player in the 2025 recruiting cycle and their 88th ranked player overall regardless of position.

Nix finished his junior season at national powerhouse IMG Academy with the second most tackles on the team with 42 total tackles.

Nix have given no indication when he will make his next cut or final decision as to where he’ll play college football.

Coveted IOL Kayden Strayhorn breaks down LSU, other top contenders

Kayden Strayhorn is a legacy at Michigan State, but a recent LSU offer seems to have grabbed his attention.

LSU got in the game a bit late for [autotag]Kayden Strayhorn[/autotag], a three-star interior lineman in the 2025 class. The Tigers offered him just a few weeks ago, but they seem to have made a strong impression early on as they’re one of three schools that has secured an official visit from him.

Strayhorn will visit LSU on June 14, as well as Ohio State and Michigan, which appear to be his top three schools at the moment.

A product of IMG Academy who is originally from Detroit and a legacy at Michigan State, Strayhorn recently spoke with Isaiah Hole of Wolverines Wire about his top contenders, including the Tigers.

Strayhorn said that LSU offensive line coach [autotag]Brad Davis[/autotag] flew specifically to meet with him and his father. After two hours, Davis made a scholarship offer to Strayhorn.

“For them I’ve never been there before,” he said. “They came on the Monday we had an A-day practice and the offensive line coach is super close with my offensive line coach. And, he came and he actually only flew just to see me and he talked with me and my dad for like two hours and offered me and told me, ‘We want to do this thing and get you here.’”

Strayhorn added that LSU has pitched him on its lack of center depth. After [autotag]Charles Turner III[/autotag] departed for the draft — in a move that surprised the Tigers, according to Strayhorn — guard [autotag]DJ Chester[/autotag] is expected to start at center in 2024.

“They think, based off what happened with their center — so they had they had a center Charles Turner from IMG actually, and they wanted him to come back,” Strayhorn said. “And so he told him he was going to come back. So the guy that they already had moved behind him into the portal. And then a few weeks later, Charles decided to enter the draft. So they literally don’t have a true center. They have a guard playing center right now for this upcoming year. So the coach sees the position they’re in and sees me as the fix.

“So that’s what interests me in them and then also just — if you see they have the No. 1 offensive line in college football this year. Two first-round tackles. And it’s just the pedigree of what they’ve had before. And, you know, it’s Louisiana State University – it’s a big deal. So I think that’s definitely what drives me to be interested in taking the official visit and I’m looking forward to that one for sure.”

Strayhorn ranks as the No. 426 recruit in the country per the 247Sports composite rankings. He holds no crystal ball predictions at the moment, but the Spartans are the favorite for the son of former MSU defensive tackle and current broadcaster Jason Strayhorn according to the On3 prediction machine.

Duke football extends offer to 2026 IMG Academy defensive lineman

Preston Carey, a Class of 2026 DL from the prestigious IMG Academy, announced that the Blue Devils extended him an offer on Tuesday night.

First-year Duke head coach [autotag]Manny Diaz[/autotag] and his staff are hot on the recruiting trail, and they aren’t only looking at the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

Preston Carey, a defensive lineman from the Class of 2026, announced through social media on Tuesday night that he received an offer from the Blue Devils.

Carey wrote that he spoke with Diaz and Duke defensive coordinator Jonathan Patke, who also coaches the Blue Devils’ linebackers.

According to On3’s Industry Ranking, Carey is a four-star prospect and the 29th-best defensive lineman in the class. Rivals is the highest individual recruiting site on Carey’s talent, ranking him as the sixth-best defensive lineman and the 62nd overall player in the Class of 2026.

Duke will have its work cut out if it wants to land Carey. He referred to the Blue Devils as his 31st offer for a full scholarship on Tuesday night, and heavyweight programs like Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, LSU, and Georgia all sit in his inbox.

Diaz and his coaching staff have put in work to put together a 2024 team through the transfer portal and the recruiting trail this offseason. The Blue Devils got a commitment from offensive tackle Bruno Fina from UCLA, their third offensive tackle commitment, on Monday.
