Julian Lewis chooses Colorado after decommitting from USC

USC and Colorado are no longer in the same conference, but the two programs will be compared for the next several years because of their quarterbacks.

The Julian Lewis story has finally run its course, at least for now. Lewis, the five-star prospect who recently decommitted from USC, chose Colorado over Indiana and Georgia. He did so on the Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, as College Sports Wire noted:

The decision was largely unsurprising. Lewis had taken multiple visits to Colorado recently as well as a trip to Indiana. After he decommitted from the Trojans, he received several projections to flip to the Buffaloes.

The Carrolton, Georgia, prospect ranks as the No. 35 player nationally and No. 6 quarterback in the 2025 cycle. He was previously a five-star prospect but now sits just outside of that group, and in the quarterback rankings, he’s one spot behind Husan Longstreet, who flipped from Texas A&M to USC the same day Lewis decommitted from the Trojans.

USC was able to rebound from Lewis’s decommitment with the Longstreet flip, as College Sports Wire pointed out. Let the Lewis-versus-Longstreet comparisons begin in Boulder and Los Angeles.

USC QB coach Luke Huard visits notable recruit Friday night

If Julian Lewis bolts for Indiana or Colorado, getting Husan Longstreet to flip from Texas A&M could prove to be very crucial for USC.

On Friday evening, Jarrett Perez of 247Sports reported that USC football quarterbacks coach Luke Huard was in attendance at Corona Centennial High School, checking out five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet.

Per On3 Consensus’s rankings, Longstreet is the number 23 overall player in the Class of 2025. He is also the number four quarterback and the number two player in the state of California.

Longstreet is currently committed to Texas A&M. Over the past few weeks, however, rumors have begun to fly that he could potentially flip his commitment to USC.

The Trojans have had five-star 2025 quarterback Julian Lewis committed since last year. However, Lewis has taken numerous visits to other schools even after committing to USC, and the general vibe is that there is a good chance he winds up elsewhere.

USC’s quarterback situation for next year is still very much up in the air. The Trojans have just two quarterbacks on their 2024 roster who have thrown a pass at the FBS level: Miller Moss and Jayden Maiava. However, there is a good chance that at least one of the two will transfer this offseason, if not both.

While it will depend on how the last three games go with Maiava replacing Moss as the starter, it is likely that USC will be looking for at least one quarterback in the transfer portal this offseason. While the odds of a true freshman coming in and winning the starting job right away are slim, it is certainly not an impossible scenario given USC’s current status at the position.

College football’s early signing period for high school recruits begins on December 4, less than three weeks away.

Where does Texas A&M stand with 2025 5-star QB commit Husan Longstreet?

Texas A&M is now battling USC for current Aggie commit, 2025 5-star QB Husan Longstreet before National Signing Day

While Texas A&M’s 2024 season has reached the critical final stretch with three games remaining and College Football Playoff implications on the line, we at Aggies Wire are here to keep you informed on what’s happening throughout the 2025 recruiting trail before National Signing Day.

One of the names in Texas A&M’s 7th-ranked 2025 recruiting class, 5-star quarterback Husan Longstreet, looks like the Aggies’ future signal-caller with the potential to see the field as early as his first season.

However, according to 247Sports’ Tom Loy, Longstreet, a native of Corona, California, is now receiving substantial interest from the USC Trojans. On Thursday, Loy stated that the No. 28-ranked prospect is still a hard Aggie commit, but don’t count out the Trojans before NSD on Dec. 4.

“We’re told that Longstreet was on campus meeting with the Trojans’ staff within the past few weeks, which is surely something to monitor” Loy stated. “That said, based on conversations it has had with Longstreet, Texas A&M continues to feel great about keeping him.”

USC is currently 4-5 and 2-5 in the Big Ten during the program’s first season in the conference, while former starting QB Miller Moss will more than likely hit the transfer portal after losing his job to Jayden Maiava.

According to 247Sports, Longstreet is currently positioned as the 28th-ranked prospect, the 4th-ranked quarterback, and the 2nd-ranked prospect in California.

Note: Husan Longstreet’s brother, freshman defensive back Kevin Longstreet, is currently on the Aggies’ 2024 roster.

2025 5-star QB and Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet continues to impress

Husan Longstreet continues to live up to his recruiting prowess

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class isn’t quite finished adding commitments amid the Aggies’ success during the 2024 season. The Aggies are currently 5-1 and 3-0 in SEC play, and they are currently atop the conference.

During A&M’s Week 7 bye week, head coach Mike Elko and his staff had a chance for the first time all season to watch several of the program’s 2025 commitments play football, including the top-ranked commit in the class, 5-star quarterback Husan Longstreet out of Corona, California.

Lighting up the scoreboard on a weekly basis during his final high school season at Centennial HS, Elko was reportedly in attendance for Longstreet’s recent game as the senior completed 10/13 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns while running for a touchdown in a win.

Longstreet’s arm strength sticks out more than any throwing trait, while his accuracy and touch continue to improve.

Staying in close contact with Texas A&M OC Collin Klein, Longstreet can likely see himself succeeding in Klein’s scheme after watching both Conner Weigman and Marcel Reed maneuver the offense successfully outside of the season-opening loss to Notre Dame.

According to 247Sports, Longstreet is currently positioned as the 28th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 4th-ranked quarterback prospect, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California.

Texas A&M’s top 2025 QB commit remains confident in the the program’s future

2025 5-star Aggie commit Husan Longstreet remains confident in Texas A&M’s future

Despite Texas A&M’s 2024 season-opening 23-13 loss to Notre Dame on Saturday night, the Aggie’s top 2025 recruiting class commit, 5-star quarterback Husan Longstreet, remains confident in the program’s future during his weekend visit.

Joining over 100 prospects from the 2025, 2026, and 2027 recruiting cycles who descended on College Station, Longstreet’s standing with the program remains paramount. Still, after the poor showing from the Aggie offense on Saturday night, it was fair to worry if any doubt may have entered his mindset.

Again, this is one game under new head coach Mike Elko’s coaching regime, and credit to Longstreet for looking at the bigger picture. The incoming senior signal caller posted on his X account that nothing had changed regarding his Texas A&M commitment.

Currently positioned as the No. 1-ranked prospect in California, according to 247Sports, Longstreet’s live arm, accuracy, and impressive athleticism led to one of the more productive 2023 seasons, throwing for 3,013 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 645 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Did 2025 5-star QB Husan Longstreet solidify is commitment to Texas A&M?

In a post on X, Husan Longstreet might have further solidified his commitment to Texas A&M

Texas A&M’s top-ranked commit in the 2025 recruiting class may have further solidified his commitment to the program through a social media post that had many of us wondering about the message being sent.

On Wednesday morning, 5-star quarterback Husan Longstreet went to X to post a photo of him in a Texas A&M uniform during one of his previous recruiting photo shoots with a headline stating, “Embrace the G.R.I.N.D” while tagging Texas A&M’s football X account.

Why is this important? Heading into his senior season at Centennial HS in Corona, California, USC head coach Lincoln Riley has been on the prowl as the QB guru, like many programs, is attempting to flip Longstreet before early signing day in December.

While Riley has been very successful in flipping top-rated signal callers during his entire coaching career at both Oklahoma and USC, if Longstreet’s post means anything, Mike Elko and his Aggie staff should feel secure as of now.

Longstreet possesses one of the strongest arms in the 2025 class. During his memorable 2023 junior season at Centennial HS in Corona (CA), Longstreet accounted for 3,013 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions through the air, including 645 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

5-star QB Husan Longstreet is now a Top 5 quarterback in 2025 recruiting class

Husan Longstreet is now one of the Top 5 quarterback in the 2025 cycle

It’s no surprise when prospects in any recruiting cycle begin to rise in the rankings after participating in various camps throughout the summer. In the 2025 recruiting class, nearly every quarterback who many of us saw during last month’s Elite II competition has only helped their standing in the rankings.

2025 5-star Husan Longstreet, who committed to Texas A&M in early April, is now, according to 247Sports, the No. 4-ranked quarterback in the cycle and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California. As the lone 5-star commit in the Aggies’ 2025 class, Longstreet also serves as new offensive coordinator Collin Klein’s first win on the recruiting trail.

After earning MVP honors during the first day of the Elite 11 competition, On3’s Charles Power described Longstreet’s elite skillset, which was seen throughout the week:

“He was able to throw with good location and drop some nice throws in. He won the Rail Shot challenge towards the end of the event in which the quarterbacks all throw a small-window throw down the back side. He really showed the ability to manipulate his arm angles, throw off-platform and just had a very strong day overall. His physical tools are apparent and he’s certainly one of the twitchier and more explosive passers and movers on hand”

According to 247Sports, Longstreet is now the 28th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the fourth-ranked quarterback, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California.

‘Striving for excellence,’ 5-star Aggies 2025 QB commit Husan Longstreet recaps Elite 11

“I just love what he did at Duke. It’s very rare to see a coach change around a program,” he said. “I don’t see why he can’t do it there.”

Texas A&M 2025 five-star quarterback commit Husan Longstreet recently competed at the Elite 11 Finals, making it clear that his recruitment is shutdown and that he’s coming to College Station.

“I think it went pretty good. I’m just excited to be around here with the guys. It’s a lot of good competition here,” Longstreet told Tom Loy of 247Sports. “Really just learning the true definition of competing, really striving for excellence. That’s the biggest thing that I took away.

“I just love what he did at Duke. It’s very rare to see a coach change around a program. I think with the people that he has in place on staff like coach Klein, coach Bateman, I don’t see why he can’t do it there… I like to go fishing. I like to hang out with my family. Just good, quality family time gives me a sense of peace.

“(Elko) is a great person. There’s nothing that you can’t ask from him. He’s going to be straight up, tell you what it is and what it isn’t. Those are the things that I love about him.”

Longstreet received 31 offers and took only two visits, to Aggieland and Auburn.

Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet impresses early at the Elite 11 Finals

Five star QB and Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet take home the Day 1 MVP at the Elite 11 Finals

Things are looking bright for the top Texas A&M offensive recruit in the 2025 class. Quarterback Husan Longstreet committed to the Aggies back in April and was one of the crown jewels for Collin Klein.

Longstreet has been nothing short of impressive, and according to the scouts at the Elite 11, he was the one who stood out the most. He was so impressive that he took home the Day 1 MVP.  Below is an excerpt from Charles Power from On3 about Longstreet’s day.

“He was able to throw with good location and drop some nice throws in. He won the Rail Shot challenge towards the end of the event in which the quarterbacks all throw a small-window throw down the back side. He really showed the ability to manipulate his arm angles, throw off-platform and just had a very strong day overall. Report: No. 2 uncommitted QB set to visit Oregon before announcement

The No. 2 uncommitted QB in the nation will visit Eugene before his April 14th announcement.

In a report from On3.com, the nation’s No. 2 uncommitted quarterback, Husan Longstreet, will visit Oregon before making his official announcement on April 14.

But Oregon is just one of three schools Longstreet will visit as he will be going to Ole Miss and Auburn as well.

Longstreet is a four-star recruit from the Class of 2025 and stands at 6-foot-1 and hails from Corona, Calif. Should he choose to commit to the Ducks, Longstreet will join a talented, but crowded, quarterback room in Eugene.

Oregon will have Dante Moore, Austin Novosad, Akili Smith,  Jr. and Luke Moga on the roster in 2025 as things stand as they are. But college football rosters fluctuate with the transfer portal and the odds say someone or someones will move on elsewhere.
