Todd McShay has coronavirus, will miss NFL Draft coverage

ESPN’s Todd McShay will miss NFL Draft coverage as he is home recovering from coronavirus.

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay will unfortunately not be part of Thursday’s draft coverage as he recovers from coronavirus.

In a tweet on Thursday, McShay revealed that he had tested positive for coronavirus and will be home recovering rather than working the draft.

ESPN and the NFL Network are jointly televising the draft. ABC, where McShay was previously scheduled to be a part of the broadcast, will be televising a separate broadcast as well.

The draft was originally scheduled to be held as a live event in Las Vegas, but that has been scrapped as a result of the pandemic. Instead, the draft will be done remotely and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will announce picks from the basement of his home.

McShay’s statement:

“I’m so sorry to tell you I won’t be working the NFL Draft this year,” he wrote. “I’m home recovering from coronavirus. For now, I just want to say I miss you all–my teammates at ESPN who have been incredibly supportive, my friends in the league, and the fans who have made the Draft what it is today. I also want to assure you I’ll be back, thanks to the tireless work of healthcare workers and first responders. You are truly our nation’s heroes. In the meantime, I’ll be watching and I hope you will be too. I also hope Wingo and crew will help me out and do their part to keep Kiper in line!”
