Projected wins: 7.5 / OVER: -115 / UNDER: -105
Though we don’t know the official details of the 2020 regular-season schedule, the known opponents and location set up favorably for the Raiders’ first season in Las Vegas. Who knows how big of a home advantage Sin City will provide for the Raiders but they’ll benefit from not having to go to New Orleans to face the Saints and hosting the Bills instead of possibly playing in bad weather on the road. Also, the Raiders head to New England to play a Tom Brady-less Patriots team and get a de facto ninth home game when they play the Chargers in Los Angeles.
The Raiders have seen improvements as a team and in the quarterback position in head coach Jon Gruden’s first two seasons. The offense should be more productive after drafting WR Henry Ruggs III and two other wide receivers in the 2020 NFL Draft. The defense will be more talented with the addition of two linebackers—Littleton and Kwiatkoski—both graded by Pro Football Focus as in the top 15 of their position. It’s concerning they did essentially nothing to address a pass-rushing unit ranked 25th in sacks and 27th in QB pressure rate in 2019.
Nonetheless, I think Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock have the Raiders headed in the right direction; BET OVER 7.5 wins (-115).
