Houston Astros at Los Angeles Angels odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Houston Astros at Los Angeles Angels odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Houston Astros (30-35) and Los Angeles Angels (24-40) conclude their 3-game series Sunday. First pitch from Angel Stadium is slated for 4:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Astros vs. Angels odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Astros lead 3-2

The Astros have won 4 of their last 5 games and will be looking to sweep the Angels after a 6-1 victory on Saturday. Starter RHP Hunter Brown struck out 7 over 6 scoreless innings. Houston’s offense was led by DH Yordan Alvarez, who went 3-for-4 with a double and 2-run HR.

Los Angeles failed to get anything going offensively on Saturday night, managing only 3 hits. One of those hits was a solo HR from 1B Nick Schanuel. The Angels hope to avoid being swept for the 3rd time in their last 5 series.

Astros at Angels projected starters

RHP Justin Verlander vs. LHP Patrick Sandoval

Verlander (3-2, 3.63 ERA) makes his 10th start. He has a 1.19 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 8.3 K/9 in 52 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 4 K in 7-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals Monday
  • 2024 road splits: 3-1, 2.80 ERA, 35 1/3 IP, 11 ER, 28 H, 10 BB, 39 K in 3 starts

Sandoval (2-8, 5.00 ERA) makes his 14th start. He has a 1.43 WHIP, 3.8 BB/9 and 9.6 K/9 in 66 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 7 K in 4-2 win against the San Diego Padres Tuesday

Astros at Angels picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 6, Angels 2

Moneyline.

PASS.

I love the Astros (-154) in this matchup Sunday, but I’ll avoid paying that juice and keep my wager to the run line.

Run line/Against the spread

BET ASTROS -1.5 (+100).

Houston will close out this sweep in impressive fashion on Sunday afternoon with Verlander on the hill. Despite being 41-years-old now, he’s still getting the job done and should have no problem against this Angels lineup.

Sandoval has only had 1 real bad outing since the beginning of May, but he has been owned by this Astros team. In his last 5 starts against Houston, he’s allowed at least 4 ER in 4 of them.

The Astros last 8 victories have been by 2 runs or more. When they win, they usually win handedly.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8.5 (-115).

I really wanted to take the Over, but I just could not when I looked at the trends. Their last 3 matchups have gone Under the total. Houston is 2-8 against the Over in their last 10 while the Angels have been Under in 6 straight games.

Houston Astros at Texas Rangers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Houston Astros at Texas Rangers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Houston Astros (78-61) will play the 2nd game of a 3-game series against the Texas Rangers (76-61) on Tuesday at Globe Life Field. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Astros vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Astros lead 7-4

The Astros cruised to a 13-6 victory over the Rangers on Monday as 2B Jose Altuve and OF Mauricio Dubon both hit 2 home runs. Houston ended its 3-game losing skid with the victory and is tied with the Seattle Mariners for 1st place in the AL West.

Rangers SS Corey Seager also supplied 2 home runs in the lopsided series-opening defeat. Texas is 4-6 in its last 10 contests and is now 1 game behind Houston for 2nd place in the division and just 1/2 game ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays for the final AL Wild Card.

Astros at Rangers projected starters

LHP Framber Valdez vs. RHP Nathan Eovaldi

Valdez (10-9, 3.38 ERA) makes his 27th start. He has a 1.10 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 8.8 K/9 through 167 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 4 R (2 ER), 5 H, 0 BB, 5 K in 7-4 road win vs. Boston Red Sox Wednesday
  • 2023 road stats: 6-3, 3.92 ERA (78 IP, 34 ER) in 12 starts
  • Career vs. Rangers: 6-5, 3.05 ERA (76 2/3 IP, 26 ER) in 12 starts and 3 relief appearances

Eovaldi (11-3, 2.69 ERA) makes his 20th start. He has a 1.01 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and 8.1 K/9 through 123 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 2 K in 5-3 home victory vs. Tampa Bay Rays July 18
  • 2023 home stats: 5-2, 2.60 ERA (52 IP, 15 ER) in 8 starts
  • Career vs. Astros: 3-3, 3.83 ERA (51 2/3 IP, 22 ER) in 9 starts

Astros at Rangers odds

  • Moneyline (ML): Astros -120 (bet $120 to win $100) | Rangers +100 (bet $100 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Astros -1.5 (+140) | Rangers +1.5 (-165)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 9 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Astros at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 6, Astros 4

Moneyline

Even though Eovaldi is making his 1st start in over a month, there is value in backing the RANGERS (+100) in Tuesday’s divisional bout. Eovaldi was in the AL Cy Young discussion before serving a stint on the injured list and Valdez has struggled in recent outings.

Run line/Against the spread

While I have the Rangers winning outright, I’ll PASS on their run line at the current odds (-165). If you can get the run of insurance at at -150 or better odds, then I’d feel comfortable wagering on Texas’ run line.

Over/Under

OVER 9 (-105) is the lean as matchups between the Astros and Rangers have typically gone Over. The Over is 6-3-1 in the last 10 meetings overall this season.

Valdez has given up 3 earned runs or more in 3 of his last 5 starts, and the Rangers boast the 7th-best ISO (.211), the 11th-best wOBA (.337), and the 12th-best wRC+ (112) against left-handed pitching since the beginning of August.

New York Yankees at Houston Astros odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s New York Yankees at Houston Astros odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Yankees (65-69) open a 3-game series against the Houston Astros (77-58) on Friday at Minute Maid Park. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET (Prime Video). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Yankees vs. Astros odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: tied 2-2

The Yankees lost 4-3 to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday in the 10th inning, snapping a 3-game win streak. New York is 5-5 in its last 10 games and is in last place in the AL East and 10 1/2 games out of an AL Wild Card.

The Astros defeated the Boston Red Sox 7-4 Wednesday to extend their win streak to 5 games. Houston has won 7 of its last 10 contests and is tied with the Seattle Mariners for 1st place in the AL West.

Yankees at Astros projected starters

LHP Carlos Rodon vs. RHP Justin Verlander

Rodon (1-4, 5.97 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 1.41 WHIP, 4.8 BB/9 and 7.9 K/9 through 37 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 7 K in 7-4 road loss vs. Tampa Bay Rays Sunday
  • 2023 road stats: 0-2, 7.71 ERA (14 IP, 12 ER) in 3 starts
  • Career vs. Astros: 2-0, 2.39 ERA (49 IP, 13 ER) in 8 starts
  • Last start vs. Astros: No-decision, 2 2/3 IP, 5 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 5 K in 9-7 home loss on Aug. 6

Verlander (10-6, 3.06 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.17 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 8.0 K/9 through 123 1/3 IP for the Astros and New York Mets.

  • Last start: Win, 5 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 K in a 17-4 road victory over the Tigers Sunday

Yankees at Astros picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 6, Yankees 3

Moneyline

With how the Yankees have been performing this season, the Astros should cruise to a win with Verlander on the mound. That being said, I’ll PASS on the moneyline in this matchup as it’s not advised to wager on Houston at nearly -200 odds.

Run line/Against the spread

ASTROS -1.5 (+100) is the play in this contest with Houston being the superior squad right now. Houston has won by multiple runs in each game during its 5-game win streak, outscoring opponents 52-17.

Over/Under

BET OVER 8.5 (-120).

While Verlander has looked solid since returning to the Astros, Houston has been crushing left-handed pitching in recent months. The Astros have the 2nd-best ISO (.235), the best wOBA (.389), and the best wRC+ (.151) against southpaws since the beginning of July.

Houston is also 8-2 to the Over in its last 10 games overall.

Houston Astros at Boston Red Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Houston Astros at Boston Red Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Houston Astros (75-58) play the 2nd game of a 3-game series against the Boston Red Sox (69-63) on Tuesday at Fenway Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Astros vs. Red Sox odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Astros lead 3-2

The Astros defeated the Red Sox 13-5 Monday in the series opener as 2B Jose Altuve and OF Yordan Alvarez both produced 4-hit outings. Houston has won 3 straight games and is now only 1 game behind the Seattle Mariners for the division lead in the AL West and is in possession of an AL Wild Card playoff berth.

The Red Sox were blown out by 8 runs on Monday despite OF Masataka Yoshida tallying 3 hits and OF Adam Duvall hitting a 2-run homer. Boston has lost 3 of its last 4 games and is 5 1/2 games behind the Astros for the final Wild Card spot in the AL.

Astros at Red Sox projected starters

RHP J.P. France vs. RHP Brayan Bello

France (9-5, 3.51 ERA) makes his 19th start and 20th appearance. He has a 1.31 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 6.8 K/9 through 110 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 2 1/3 IP, 10 ER, 11 H, 2 BB, 3 K in a 17-1 home loss in his first career start vs. Red Sox Thursday
  • 2023 road stats: 5-2, 1.92 ERA (51 2/3 IP, 11 ER) in 8 starts and 1 relief appearance

Bello (10-7, 3.56 ERA) makes his 23rd start. He has a 1.28 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 7.4 K/9 through 126 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 1 ER, 9 H, 3 BB, 4 K in a 17-1 road victory opposite France Thursday
  • Home stats: 4-5, 3.41 ERA (66 IP, 25 ER) in 12 starts

  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Astros +1.5 (-185) | Red Sox -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 10 (O: -115 | U: -105)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Astros at Red Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Sox 6, Astros 5

Moneyline

I’ll take the RED SOX (-125) Tuesday in this rematch of last Thursday’s affair between France and Bello. While it’s improbable to predict a 17-1 lopsided win for the Red Sox again, Bello should lead Boston to another win at home.

Run line/Against the spread

Even though the Astros should keep this game within 2 runs, I’ll PASS on the run line in this contest. Wagering on Houston’s spread isn’t worth the risk at nearly -190 odds.

Over/Under

OVER 10 (-115) is the play in this game as plenty of runs have been scored when the Astros and Red Sox have squared off this season. There have been 18 runs scored in back-to-back games between these clubs and the Over is 5-0 in their first 5 meetings this season.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Seattle Mariners (66-55) open a 3-game series against the Houston Astros (70-52) on Friday at Minute Maid Park. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mariners vs. Astros odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Mariners lead 5-2

The Mariners picked up a 3rd straight win with a 6-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals Thursday. Seattle is in 3rd place in the AL West and is 6 games behind the Texas Rangers atop the division and 1/2 game back of the Toronto Blue Jays for the final AL Wild Card.

The Astros cruised to a 12-5 victory over the Miami Marlins Wednesday for a 2nd consecutive win. Houston is in 2nd place in the AL West, 2 1/2 games back of Texas, and holds the 2nd AL Wild Card.

Mariners at Astros projected starters

RHP Bryce Miller vs. RHP J.P. France

Miller (7-4, 4.04 ERA) makes his 18th start. He has a 1.05 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9 and 8.6 K/9 through 91 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 2/3 IP, 2R (1 ER), 5 H, 2 BB, 2 K in 5-3 home loss vs. Baltimore Orioles Sunday
  • 2023 road stats: 2-2, 5.15 ERA (36 2/3 IP, 21 ER) over 7 starts
  • One career start vs. Astros: Win, 6 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 5 K in a 3-1 home win on May 7

Mariners at Astros picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 4, Mariners 3

Moneyline

France has been credited with a win in each of his 4 starts since the All-Star break, so I’ll take the ASTROS (-145) at home in Friday’s divisional matchup. Both of these teams have had recent stretches of success, but Houston has the slight edge at home.

Run line/Against the spread

Go ahead and PASS on wagering on the run line in this game as the Mariners should keep this game competitive. That being said, I wouldn’t take Seattle with the run of insurance unless you can get it at -160 odds or better.

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (+100) is the play Friday with Miller and France pitching well in recent starts. Miller has given up 1 or fewer earned runs in 4 of his 6 starts since the All-Star break, while France has surrendered 2 or fewer earned runs in his last 4 starts.

The Under is also 4-1 in the last 5 meetings this season.

The Houston Astros (62-48) will play the 2nd game of a 4-game series against the New York Yankees (57-52) on Friday at Yankee Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET (Apple TV+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Astros vs. Yankees odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Yankees lead 1-0 after a 4-3 win Thursday

Thursday’s loss snapped a 3-game win streak for the Astros. Houston has won 6 of its last 10 games and is 1 1/2 games back of the Texas Rangers in the AL West race.

The Yankees got back-to-back home runs from OF Giancarlo Stanton and OF Billy McKinney in the 1st inning which proved to be the difference in Thursday’s victory. New York remains in last place in the AL East and is 10 games behind the 1st place Baltimore Orioles.

Astros at Yankees picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 7, Yankees 3

Moneyline

The ASTROS (-145) are the easy pick Friday with Severino pitching for the Yankees. New York has lost 4 of Severino’s last 5 starts.

Run line/Against the spread

The ASTROS -1.5 (+110) are a fantastic value as Houston’s bats should have no issue doing damage on Severino. Brown has been solid this season and he’s coming off a start in which he limited the Tampa Bay Rays to only 2 runs over 6 innings.

Over/Under

BET OVER 9 (-110).

Severino is struggling against batters on both sides of the plate this season, and the Astros can potentially hit the Over themselves. Houston’s lineup is getting healthy and Severino has given up at least 7 earned runs in 3 of his last 5 starts.

Rays at Astros picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 4, Rays 3

Moneyline

Considering how these teams have performed recently, I’ll back the ASTROS (-105) at home. McClanahan has been shaky in recent starts and Houston has gone 8-2 in the last 10 meetings overall.

Run line/Against the spread

Even though I have the Astros winning this game outright, I’ll PASS on their run line at the current odds (-175).

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (-115) is the pick as McClanahan and Javier take the mound. The Rays have cooled off as they’ve scored fewer than 5 runs in 9 of their last 10 games. The Under is also 2-7-1 in the last 10 meetings overall.

Rangers at Astros projected starters

RHP Jon Gray vs. RHP Brandon Bielak

  • June 30 in 5-3 loss vs. Astros: 6 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 K in 6 IP

Rangers at Astros picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 6, Astros 5

Moneyline

With Texas getting back to its winning ways recently, I’ll back the RANGERS (-110) on the road in Monday’s divisional matchup.

Run line/Against the spread

While there is solid value in taking the Rangers to win by multiple runs at the current odds (+145), I’ll PASS on the run line in this contest.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

OVER 9 (-105) is the pick with both of these pitchers lacking in the swing-and-miss department. The Rangers have produced 5-plus runs in 6 of their last 10 games, while the Astros have scored 6-plus runs in 4 of their last 10.

Since the start of June, both teams are top 6 in ISO, top 15 in wOBA, and top 15 in wRC+ against right-handed pitching. The Rangers and Astros both have the 4th and 5th-most home runs in that span against righties.

Mariners at Astros picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 4, Mariners 3

Moneyline

Even with Kirby on the mound for the Mariners, I’ll side with the ASTROS (-105) at home. The Mariners are 14-37 in the last 51 road meetings against the Astros and 21-52 in the last 73 meetings overall.

Houston is also 42-19 in its last 61 games against a team with a losing record.

Run line/Against the spread

The Astros should win Thursday’s divisional matchup outright, so I’ll PASS on their run line at the current odds (-165).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (-120) is the play in this contest despite the Astros swinging a hot bat and Blanco consistently giving up runs. Houston is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games overall and in its last 5 games against teams in the AL West.

Astros at Rangers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 5, Astros 3

Moneyline

AVOID

The Rangers are one of MLB’s most prolific teams at home, although Gray has struggled a little at home. The Astros are actually hitting better on the road than at Minute Maid Park this season. I believe the Rangers win this game, but don’t feel strong enough to put up over 1 1/2 units.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS

The plu-money odds are tempting enough to put down 1/2 a unit on the Rangers to win by multiple runs, but I’m going to stay away and look at the run total.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

I’m all in on UNDER 9.5 (-120). The primary reason for that is Gray, who has been lights out over the last 2 months. He has allowed just 11 total runs over his last 8 starts and 6 of those runs came in 1 bad start against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Astros trio of Jose Altuve, Jose Abreu, and Alex Bregman is a combined 2 for 16 with 1 extra base hit and 1 RBI against Gray.
