2022 ACC/Big Ten Challenge matchups announced

Besides the one involving the Irish, which game most interests you?

Few things draw more excitement during the early part of the college basketball season than the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Every team from one power conference matches up against one from the other. Whether the opponent is good or bad, it also is nice for these teams to see how well they do against a similar level of competition. It definitely is one of the major tuneups for when the conference schedule begins.

The 2022 matchups have been announced, and the ACC would like to change its luck. The conference won this series, which began in 1999, in each of its first 10 seasons. Since then, its only wins have come in 2016 and 2017, the latter of which saw it post a series-best 11-3 record. The Big Ten has had the upper hand in each of the past three years, so a changing of the guard is overdue.

Here are the matchups for this year’s edition:

It’s island time: A look at the island stops on the PGA Tour

The PGA Tour follows the sun to some of the most beautiful spots around and is currently swinging through a series of our favorite islands.

The famed island green at the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, may be the best known island on the PGA Tour, but it’s not the only one. In fact, the PGA Tour enjoys its own island swing.

Bermuda (October), Bahamas (December) … it sounds like a Beach Boys song including all the island paradises where the Good Ship PGA Tour drops anchor to spend a week and play 72 holes. This week: St. Simons Island, Georgia, for the RSM Classic.

Jimmy Buffett would enjoy the Tour’s island fever, hopping to the Riviera Maya in Mexico (October), Puerto Rico (March) and places such as the Dominican Republic (March). When it’s sweater weather for much of the contiguous 48 states in January, the Tour heads to Maui and Oahu and returns for stops along the eastern seaboard at Ponte Vedra Beach and Hilton Head Island in March and April, respectively. And this list doesn’t even include the British Isles because, well, you get the idea: These guys are living the dream.

After all, island time is the best time. Here’s a closer look at these island destinations.

Sony Open: Final round tee times pushed up due to expected storms

Final round tee times were pushed up for Sunday’s final round of the Sony Open due to expected storms.

In anticipation of storms rolling into Honolulu, Hawaii, Sunday afternoon, tee times for the final round of the Sony Open have been pushed up by two hours.

The forecast for Honolulu predicts heavy rain showers late in the afternoon and a poor forecast on Monday so the PGA Tour announced Saturday evening tee times will begin at 8:30 a.m. local time (1:30 p.m. ET) in hopes of crowning a winner before inclement weather hits.

The final round of the Sony Open will now broadcast live on the Golf Channel from 4-8 p.m. ET.

On Saturday in Honolulu, the temperature was in the high 70s and low 80s as the third round began. As of the end of the second round, 45 players were within six shot of the lead.
