Chiefs TE Blake Bell suffers hip injury, questionable to return vs. Bears

#Chiefs TE Blake Bell suffered a hip injury on the first play of the second offensive series against the #Bears. He’s questionable to return.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Blake Bell got the scoring started for the team on Saturday, but it appears that his day is over due to injury.

On the first play of the second offensive series, a four-yard run by rookie RB Isiah Pacheco, Bell suffered an apparent lower-body injury. The training staff had to help him off of the field and tend to him on the sidelines. According to Kansas City Star reporter Herbie Teope, Bell was carted to the locker room in the back of the cart, which is never a good sign.

The team quickly ruled Bell’s return to the game as questionable with a hip injury.

Bell, 31, enters his third season in Kansas City. He was with the team during the Super Bowl run in 2019 and spent the 2021 season with the team. He’s a big part of the versatile offensive attack in Kansas City, whether it’s blocking in the run and passing game or catching passes from Patrick Mahomes.

Chiefs rookie WR Skyy Moore back at practice after injury scare

#Chiefs rookie WR Skyy Moore was spotted back at practice on Wednesday – a good sign after leaving practice early Tuesday with a hip injury.

Kansas City Chiefs rookie WR Skyy Moore was spotted back at practice on Wednesday.

A day after leaving practice early due to what would later be deemed a hip injury, Moore practiced with the team in some capacity on Wednesday. Moore was spotted by KONN’s Steve Walls taking part in special team drills at the onset of practice. He was working with the other kick returners as Dave Toub mentioned he would just yesterday.

The team’s practice moved indoors on Wednesday due to inclement weather, limiting practice presence to media members. That means we won’t know the extent to which Moore practiced until later, but seeing him out there is a good sign. When he left practice on Tuesday, Moore walked up the hill to the indoor facility under his own power instead of riding in a cart. That’s typically a good sign when it comes to injuries.

He later responded to an Instagram post after practice reassuring fans that he was OK. KSHB-TV’s Aaron Ladd shared that post on Twitter:

The second-round draft pick has been a standout during Chiefs’ training camp so far, stacking plenty of good days at practice. If missing just a portion of Tuesday’s practice is all that comes of this injury, it’ll be great news for his ability to continue to carry that momentum on through training camp, into the preseason and eventually the regular season.

Report: Kenny Golladay expected to miss Week 9 versus the Vikings and is week-to-week with hip injury

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay expected to miss Week 9 versus the Minnesota Vikings with a hip injury.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay expected to miss Week 9 versus the Minnesota Vikings with a hip injury.

Rapoport would go on to say that Golladay was week-to-week and a potential candidate for short-term injured reserve — now that the new NFL rules would only keep him out three weeks — but nothing was determined at this time.

After playing on just 18 first-half snaps on Sunday, Golladay pulled up on a route and immediately called to the sideline to be replaced. He would go into the locker room and not return for the remainder of the game.

Golladay also missed the first two games of the season and was replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Quintez Cephus. Cephus held his own but has been relegated to a healthy scratch the last two weeks as the Lions have opted for specialty players like Jamal Agnew and Isaac Nauta.

With Cephus out last Sunday, the Lions turned to Marvin Hall who saw 42 snaps and produced four catches on seven targets for 113 yards as the Lions “Z” wide receiver.

If Golladay does indeed miss this week’s game, or several thereafter, the Lions will have to decide if they want to go back to the rookie or give Hall another shot to replicate his outing.

Stay tuned to Lions Wire for more news on Golladay’s health as updates become available.

Tua Tagovailoa’s latest medical scans show ‘no concerns’ over progress

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s four-month medical scans are reported as “very good with no concerns”, suggesting he continues on his positive path to recovery, and in turn, will make teams at the top of the 2020 NFL draft very happy.

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s four-month medical scans are reported as “very good with no concerns”, suggesting he continues on his positive path to recovery, and in turn, will make teams at the top of the 2020 NFL draft very happy.

The Detroit Lions are surely one of the teams monitoring Tagovailoa’s progress as his health status will likely directly impact the team’s No. 3 overall draft pick.

There are mixed reports on whether or not the Lions would be interested in adding Tagovailoa themselves — although ESPN’s Matt Berry strongly says there’s “no chance” they draft him — but even if they aren’t interested in him as a player, other teams are.

Washington coach Ron Rivera, who holds the No. 2 overall pick, said they will bring in Tagovailoa for a visit and insists there is a legitimate interest. The Miami Dolphins, who hold the No. 5 overall pick, are still the Vegas front-runners to draft Tagovailoa. While NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah believes the Los Angeles Chargers, who hold the No. 6 overall pick, would be the team most likely to pull the trigger on a trade up to get the Alabama signal-caller.

If Washington selects Tagovailoa or accepts a trade for him, the Lions would have a chance to draft Ohio State’s Chase Young, arguably the best player in this draft class. And if Washington drafts Young, the Lions will have a chance to push the Dolphins and Chargers in a bidding war and potentially add more draft capital.

This is a win-win situation for the Lions, as long as Tagovailoa’s progress continues forward.

According to NFL.com, Tagovailoa’s doctor, Lyle Cain, is paraphrased as saying “the outlook is as positive as can be at the four-month mark, but the left-handed quarterback still has several weeks, if not longer, to go before he is in actual shape for NFL-level football activity. The time frame will be based on how his body responds to a steady progression of weight-training, running and drills related to quarterback play.”

Tagovailoa will likely be part of the NFL Combine medical rechecks next month and is scheduled to hold a private Pro Day on April 9th — expect the Lions to be paying close attention to both events leading up to the draft.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson feels ‘100% ready’ for comeback next season

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson is making good progress in his rehabilitation from his hip injury from Week 16.

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson has been doing well in his rehabilitation process following his season-ending hip injury in Week 16. He has maintained that he will not need surgery to recover.

“It’s good, everything is smooth,” Carson told reporters when he cleaned out his locker to wrap up the season. “Got to stay patient.”

Carson recorded a career-high 1,230 rushing yards on 277 rushes for seven touchdowns and a career-high 266 receiving yards on 37 receptions for two TDs in 15 games in the 2019 season. However, he also had seven fumbles, losing four of them.

Coach Pete Carroll reports the third-year running back should be fully healed in time for Week 1 of the 2020 season and that they are counting on him to produce at full strength.

With Carson entering a contract year, he will need to produce at a high level and avoid injury more than ever going forward.

“I feel 100% ready for it,” Carson stated. “It’s not going to be too much. Nothing I haven’t done before. I’ll be ready for it.”

Rookie Travis Homer left to shoulder load in Seattle’s loss to Arizona

After losing rushers Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise to injuries, Seahawks rookie Travis Homer was left to shoulder the load alone Week 16.

The Seattle Seahawks took another huge hit to their running backs corps Sunday when both Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise left the game in the first half with injuries. Rookie Travis Homer was left to shoulder the load alone against the Arizona Cardinals.

Carson injured his hip Week 16 and Prosise broke his arm – both players are now likely out for the year.

“Travis, he worked his tail off today,” coach Pete Carroll said after the game. “He had to carry the whole load, as well as special teams. He’s a focal point guy on teams as well; still the personal protector on the punt team and all that, so he did a great job just to get through the game and finish for us.”

Homer finished the day posting five carries for 16 yards and remains the only healthy running back on the Seahawks roster. Seattle will likely need to make a few roster moves this week to add depth at the position.

“We do kind of like running the football, you know,” Carroll continued. “It’s a challenge. John (Schneider) has to get working. He has a plan, and he was already preparing for every position that has a fallout wherever we go. So, we’ll let you know when we get to it.”

Chris Carson, C.J. Prosise likely out for remainder of Seahawks’ season

Seattle Seahawks running backs Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise, who suffered injuries against the Cardinals, are likely out for the season.

The Seattle Seahawks suffered a devasting loss to the Arizona Cardinals Week 16 but even more disappointing is the injuries to the running backs as the team continues its push for the division crown.

Both starter Chris Carson and backup C.J. Prosise suffered potential season-ending injuries Sunday afternoon. Carson sustained some damage to his hip and Prosise broke his arm.

“We did get both our running backs banged up today – Chris and C.J. both got hurt,” coach Pete Carroll said in his postgame press conference. “They are out. We’ve got to get to scambling and Johnny’s (Schneider) got to get to work and figure out what we’re doing next. It’s a lot of game for (Travis) Homer to have to play by himself.

“So we’ll make some moves here and figure stuff out.”

As of now, Homer remains the only healthy running back on the Seahawks’ active roster. Seattle could call up Xavier Turner from the practice squad but will likely attempt to sign a veteran or two to add some depth to the incredibly depleted position.

This story is continuing to develop.

Seahawks lose 2 running backs to injury in 1st half against Cardinals

Seattle Seahawks running backs Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise suffered injuries against the Arizona Cardinals and won’t return to the game.

The Seahawks have already lost running back Rashaad Penny for the season due to a torn ACL and will now be without both Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise for the remainder of the Week 16 contest against the Arizona Cardinals.

Both running backs suffered injuries in the first half of the game and neither will return to the matchup.

Carson was initially deemed questionable to return with a hip injury but was ruled out shortly after the start of the third quarter per the TV broadcast. Prosise has been sidelined with an arm injury.

With Carson and Prosise now unavailable, that leaves rookie Travis Homer to shoulder the load in the run game. Seattle selected Homer in the sixth round of this year’s draft out of Miami.

Carson finished the day with eight carries for 40 yards and Prosise logged four touches for 14 yards.

Coach Pete Carroll should have injury updates on both running backs during his post-game press conference.

As of this post, the Cardinals lead the Seahawks 20-7 in the third quarter.

Pete Carroll is counting on Jadeveon Clowney making it back Week 13

Although he won’t practice Wednesday, coach Pete Carroll is counting on defensive end Jadeveon Clowney to be ready to face the Vikings.

The Seattle Seahawks have seen a vast improvement in their pass-rushing capabilities with defensive end Jadeveon Clowney on the field.

Clowney, who was inactive Week 12 against the Eagles with a hip/groin injury, saw a specialist ahead of the matchup in Philadelphia. Likely a sports hernia, Clowney isn’t facing surgery at this time, but will need to prove he’s healthy enough to play ahead of Monday night.

Coach Pete Carroll said Clowney won’t practice on Wednesday, but the team is counting on him to be ready to face the Vikings.

“Not a whole lot more other than we’re counting on him getting back,” Carroll said Wednesday. “We are – we are counting on him getting back, but he’s still gotta make it. So that’s the twinge of optimism there again.

“But he feels good about and he wants to go and he’s going to try to make it.”

The Seahawks have Thursday off for Thanksgiving but will practice Friday and Saturday to prepare for Minnesota.

It was reported last night that Alabama’s star quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, would be transported from Birmingham to Houston in order to undergo surgery on his hip.

Tagovailoa suffered a dislocated hip as well as a posterior wall fracture, an injury that will sit him out for the rest of the 2019 college football season and possibly more.

The University of Alabama released a statement from Dr. Lyle Cain, the doctor who performed the procedure, on Monday following Tagovailoa’s surgery.

As Dr. Cain said in the statement, Tagovailoa will spend the next few days in Houston before returning to Tuscaloosa to begin the rehabilitation process.

This has been an expedited process, as the injury took place Saturday afternoon and he is now already on his way to recovering.

Roll Tide Wire will post any and all updates on Tagovailoa’s recovery process, as well as any news surrounding this topic.
