The Dallas Cowboys are working their draft board to perfection thus far in the 2020 NFL Draft. After watching a top-10 player drop to them at No. 17 in WR CeeDee Lamb, they had to feel a bit of pressure to trade up and select a star defender.

Instead, they remained patient and waited it out at No. 51, just to have another player they highly regarded land in their lap again. Often mocked to them in the first round, Alabama corner Trevon Diggs made his way to the middle of the second round where the franchise gladly takes him to eventually take over for the departed Byron Jones.

We liked Diggs as a prospect so much, earlier in the day we discussed the possibility of trading up for him.

At 6-foot-1-plus, 205 pounds, Diggs is an extremely physical and strong corner with length and speed. He lined up mostly at left cornerback, which will be interesting as Jones was almost exclusively lined up on the right side, which means that Chidobe Awuzie was on the left side. Regardless, he’s a press-man corner who has good ball skills.

Highlight Reel

Rushing touchdowns, fumble recovery touchdowns, pick sixes, forced fumbles, exciting punt returns. You name it, he does it.

Film Study: Vs Arkansas (2019)

Diggs returned an interception for a touchdown in the second quarter. You’ll see some of the tackling deficiencies in this game.

Film Study vs Mississippi State (2019)

Diggs checks in with four tackles, including one for loss and a pass deflection in this contest.

Joe Flacco posts little brother’s college film on Twitter

Former Ravens and Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco is doing his part to help his younger brother, Tom, reach the NFL.

Pundits will debate about whether or not Joe Flacco was an elite quarterback in the NFL. There’s no question that he’s an elite brother.

In an effort to slow down the spread of COVID-19, college pro days across the country have been canceled, taking away opportunities for many small-school athletes to impress NFL scouts and coaches.

Flacco’s younger brother, Tom, was not invited to the combine and his school, the Towson Tigers, won’t have a pro day. To help his younger brother get some exposure leading up to the draft, Joe shared Tom’s film on his Twitter page this week.

“From my brother Tom: ‘With no pro day, I wanted to share a cut up of film that could serve as an alternative. Highlighting my arm strength, accuracy, and athleticism, all of which would have been on display at my pro day.’ Check it out!” Flacco wrote.

Here are the highlights:

Tom (6-1, 205 pounds) threw for 6,082 yards and 50 touchdowns during his final two years with the Tigers. He also rushed for 1,406 yards and eight touchdowns during his time at Towson.

The younger Flacco will likely be considered a late-round or undrafted free agent prospect. The draft will be held from April 23-25.

WATCH: Highlights of new Chiefs RB DeAndre Washington

Get to know how the newest Kansas City Chiefs running back plays.

The Kansas City Chiefs are reuniting a powerhouse duo from their college football days.

On Wednesday, reports broke that the Chiefs would sign free agent RB DeAndre Washington, who played with Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech. In his young NFL career, the 27-year-old Washington played for the Chiefs’ AFC West division rival, the Oakland Raiders.

In the last two games of the regular season in 2019, Washington was the lead back for the Raiders, starting in place of injured rookie RB Josh Jacobs. During those final two games, Washington had 50 touches for 238 yards and a touchdown. Those two games just happened to come against the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers.

DeAndre Washington vs. Los Angles Chargers, Week 16

In the NFL, Washington has showcased impressive vision and the ability to make players miss in the open field. He’s proven to be a tough runner between the tackles and he has some impressive burst to his game. He has a low center of gravity at 5-8 and 210 pounds, it makes him tough to tackle on first contact.

Prior to his NFL days, Washington had some standout moments alongside Mahomes.

Texas Tech RB DeAndre Washington vs. Kansas State

One thing the Chiefs will need to watch out for with Washington is fumbles. Washington didn’t have a single fumble during his college career spanning 729 touches. In the NFL, Washington has put the ball on the ground four times in 370 touches.

Texas Tech RB DeAndre Washington vs. West Virginia

Initially, I felt like Washington was coming in to compete with some of the guys at the bottom of the depth chart. After watching some more film I tend to get the feeling that Washington might see more competition against players like Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson.

Monday Night Rewind: ESPN airing 2006 Saints-Falcons game

ESPN will broadcast the 2006 New Orleans Saints victory over the Atlanta Falcons, the first game in the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina.

[jwplayer saqLjTpc-ThvAeFxT]

What better way to spend your Monday night than in a rewatch of one of the most important games in New Orleans Saints history?

ESPN will be broadcasting the Saints’ 2006 win over the Atlanta Falcons at 7 p.m. CT on Monday night, highlighting the first game played in the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina. That game’s significance carried far beyond the win itself — sure it’s always fun to smack around the Falcons, but Steve Gleason’s blocked punt remains a turning point in team history.

It all means more in hindsight. This was just the third Saints game coached by Sean Payton, and with Drew Brees under center. It helped kick off the most successful stretch of football in New Orleans history. And it’ll be great to relive that moment at a time when so many members of the Saints family need something to cheer about in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
