Cher is appearing in her first-ever Roblox crossover in Warner Music’s Harmony Hills world, and you can even get some of her famous costumes available as in-game clothing. The Cher Roblox event lasts for four weeks and kicks off on Dec. 8, 2023, at 7 p.m. Eastern, with Harmony Hills sporting some new winter-themed looks and a few quests to complete.

“It’s an opportunity for Cher to introduce herself and her music to a brand new audience on a virtual platform where Gen Z & Alpha are spending their time (more time than they spend on either TikTok or YouTube),” metaverse developer Gamefam, who partnered with Warner Music for the event, said in a press release.

“Holiday music is all about family and for Cher, being able to use Roblox as a platform for kids to discover and fall in love with her new holiday music demonstrates how artists like Cher can lean into emerging platforms and innovative virtual experiences to build the next wave of fandom.”

While it hasn’t quite reached Fortnite levels of popular awareness, Roblox is becoming a go-to platform for brands and artists to reach new audiences, with everything from Gucci to Saweetie making an appearance in the last year or so.

Each week introduces a new quest for players to complete, as they explore Harmony Hills and recover presents scattered around by a mischievous elf. Tracks from Cher’s recent holiday album will play at select locations in Harmony Hills, including the cafe, bakery, nightclub, and whenever you’re driving a car or attending a party, and you’ll interact with her Roblox model to get in-game rewards that resemble some of her iconic costumes.

The tracks you’ll hear include “DJ Play a Christmas Song,” “Angels in the Snow,” and “Drop Top Sleigh Ride,” the latter of which features Tyga.

Fortnite’s racing mode is the best of Rocket League and Mario Kart

Hot on the heels of Lego Fortnite, Epic added what essentially amounts to Fortnite Mario Kart with the new Rocket Racing mode

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

Hot on the heels of Lego Fortnite, Epic added what essentially amounts to Fortnite Mario Kart with the new Rocket Racing mode. Rocket Racing combines Rocket League with classic arcade racing and the anti-gravity shenanigans of Mario Kart 8, and you can play it for free in Fortnite starting now.

Fortnite Rocket Racing lets you bring your Rocket League cars and cosmetics to the multiplayer game, or you can pick from a selection of standard cars if you’ve never played Rocket League before. It looks like drifting and smart timing of your boost feature take the place of Mario Kart-style powerups and the antics they inspire, though there’s still plenty of over-the-top personality in Rocket Racing thanks to its Rocket League origins.

Like in Psyonix’s car-soccer game, you can boost jump, flip your car, and fly – and fall – on the tracks. It seems pretty complicated, though once you get the hang of it, it looks like the type of mechanics you could use to pull off some pretty sweet moves.

Rocket Racer launches with 26 tracks, three biomes, and ranked and unranked modes. Ranked modes are divided similar to Fortnite ranks, starting at Bronze and ending with Unreal.

Like Lego Fortnite, Epic promised to continue supporting Fortnite Rocket Racing with new features and cars throughout 2024, and you can spend V-Bucks in the item shop to buy new cars or pieces.

You can download Fortnite Rocket Racing for free on all platforms now by finding it in Fortnite’s Discover tab.

Supermassive finally unveiled their Dead by Daylight single-player game

Behaviour Interactive and Supermassive finally unveiled their single-player Dead by Daylight game, The Casting of Frank Stone

Behaviour Interactive and Supermassive finally unveiled their single-player Dead by Daylight game after teasing it earlier in the year. The survival horror game is called The Casting of Frank Stone, and takes place in the Dead by Daylight universe. Rather than players trying to escape or capture each other in usual asynchronous multiplayer fashion, they’ll struggle to stay alive in a terrifying world haunted by DbD staples including the Trapper.

What that actual gameplay is like remains a mystery. Supermassive didn’t actually show gameplay, but the cinematics were suitably creepy and unsettling. Check it out for yourself below.

Supermassive has a distinguished track record when it comes to horror games. The studio is responsible for the Dark Pictures games, including Man of Medan and Devil in Me, and they’re working on Little Nightmares 3 as well. Whether Nicolas Cage makes an appearance remains to be seen, and it’s not clear yet whether Behaviour’s other licensed crossovers, such as Pinhead and dozens of other horror staples, will also show up.

Supermassive and Behaviour didn’t provide a release date for The Casting of Frank Stone, but it is available for wishlisting on Steam now. Expect more in the coming months.

Atlus finally gives us a new Metaphor Re:Fantazio trailer, release date frame

Atlus is back at The Game Awards with a Metaphor ReFantazio release date frame in a loaded new trailer

After a brief, but loaded tease during Summer Game Fest, Atlus is back at The Game Awards with another Metaphor ReFantazio trailer and even a release date frame. This time, we get a much bigger glimpse of what to expect – sort of.

The trailer, which you can see below, opens with a clear reminder that this is a fantasy, though we really wouldn’t need it. Metaphor has big fantasy adventure vibes, with characters who look like they would be at home in a Studio Ghibli movie, talking animals, outlandish monsters, and a world-changing war.

Metaphor ReFantazio takes place in a world that someone spilled Shin Megami Tensei all over. It’s a blend of what looks like real-world settings and fantasy architecture with a dash of surreal otherworldliness like you’d expect from Persona 3 and a walking boat that seems like it jumped right out of a Ghibli movie. The story seems to center on the contest to become the realm’s next ruler, something that apparently requires “the faith of the people.”

Multiple factions vie for that faith, evil spirits lure people astray, and your ragtag party of sword-wielding mice and other misfits fight for your beliefs in class-centric, turn-based battles.

Metaphor ReFantazio is due out for Xbox Series X|S and PC in fall 2024. It’s a busy year for RPGs and for Atlus in particular. The studio is also publishing Persona 3 Reload on Feb. 2, 2024.

The Lego Fortnite update is even bigger than we expected

The Lego Fortnite update is live, bringing an element of survival to the multiplayer game, and it’s much deeper than we expected

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

The Lego Fortnite update is live, bringing an element of survival to the multiplayer game, and it’s much deeper than we expected. Epic includes the hefty new update for free alongside regular Fortnite on all platforms in the Discover tab, so you get an expansive survival mode and leisurely sandbox building mode for the cost of absolutely nothing save for a few seconds of time.

It’s hard to overstate just how much like Minecraft this new Lego Fortnite update is. Survival mode puts your lil’ Lego guy, gal, superhero, or banana peel into a gorgeous world divided into themed biomes – meadow, volcano, and so on – and lets you fend for yourself against monsters and nature. You craft weapons, build shelters, and save hapless villagers from the dangers of the wild – or maybe not so hapless. In the short time we’ve managed to play Lego Fortnite, we’ve seen villagers take out entire packs of wolves without getting scratched.

Sandbox mode drops you into a safe world and lets you explore and build whatever you want, without having to worry about monsters, hypothermia, or death. Before you begin in sandbox or survival mode, you create a world, set certain parameters that guide how it operates – no hunger or death, for example – and team up with friends for multiplayer co-op if you want.

The big difference between Lego Fortnite and Minecraft – aside from the former being free – is that you can use a pretty big chunk of your Fortnite skins as your playable character. Granted, some skins don’t translate terribly well, but if you’ve ever dreamed of roaming a Lego forest with Jonesy, well, you can do it now.

Epic promised more updates, including more Lego Fortnite skins, throughout 2024, so Lego Fortnite is only going to keep getting bigger.

Meanwhile, if you’re still keen on playing battle royale mode, check out our guide for where to find the weapon mod bench locations if you want an extra advantage in each match.

Grab a free Shiny Lucario and Darkrai in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Game Freak and The Pokemon Company are celebrating Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk with free rare Pokemon

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

Game Freak and The Pokemon Company are celebrating Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk with free rare Pokemon for a limited time. Starting now, you can redeem Mystery Gift codes for Shiny Lucario, until Jan. 3, 2024, and one for Darkrai. The Darkrai code is only active until Dec. 21, 2023, so make sure to get on it soon if you’re interested.

You can catch Riolu and Lucario in Scarlet and Violet with a chance of either being Shiny, so that code is a nice helping hand that saves you eating three dozen sandwiches and hoping for the best. There’s no way to get Darkrai in Scarlet and Violet at the moment without a code unless you transfer from a previous game using Pokemon Home. If you want to fill out your national Pokedex and add a powerful Dark-type ‘mon to your team, now’s the time to do it.

The celebration coincides with the release of Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disc DLC, where legendary Pokemon – except Darkrai – play an important role. Throwing nearly all the legendaries in one final expansion is becoming a Pokemon tradition at this point, and The Indigo Disc is carrying it on in a big way.

You’ll find the likes of Kubfu, Moltres, Latios and Latias, and Virizion, among others,  scattered across Paldea, waiting for you to roll up and end their career of legendary wandering by cramming them in a tiny ball.

The Indigo Disc launches on Dec. 15, 2023, and comes bundled with The Teal Mask, part one of Scarlet and Violet’s DLC.

Zelda movie director envisions it as a ‘live-action Miyazaki’ film

The Zelda movie director Wes Ball wants to make Nintendo’s next movie like a “live-action Miyazaki” movie

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

The Zelda movie director Wes Ball wants to make Nintendo’s next movie like a “live-action Miyazaki” movie. That’s a pretty broad statement, as the Studio Ghibli founder’s works run the gamut from cozy comedy to wartime tragedy, but Ball narrowed down what he meant a little in an interview with EW.

What Ball has in mind is “this awesome fantasy-adventure movie that isn’t like Lord of the Rings, it’s its own thing,” he said. “I’ve always said, I would love to see a live-action Miyazaki. That wonder and whimsy that he brings to things, I would love to see something like that.”

That vision is just a vision for now, though. Ball is finishing post-production on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and plans on taking a rest before diving into the Zelda movie script.

“It’s going to be awesome,” Ball said. “My whole life has led up to this moment. I grew up on Zelda and it is the most important property, I think, that’s untapped IP, if you will. So we very much are working hard to do something. We’re not just trying to do it because we can. We want to make something really special.”

Zelda and Super Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto is co-producing the film with Avi Arad (Into the Spiderverse) and Arad’s production company Arad Productions. Nintendo will finance more than half of the film, while Sony Pictures Entertainment will also finance the film and distribute it film theatrically worldwide.

“By producing visual contents of Nintendo IP by itself, Nintendo is creating new opportunities to have people from around the world to access the world of entertainment which Nintendo has built, through different means apart from its dedicated game consoles,” Nintendo said in the original press release. “By getting deeply involved in production with the aim to put smiles on everyone’s faces through entertainment, Nintendo will continue its efforts to produce unique entertainment and deliver it to as many people as possible.”
