Eagles have 3 players make a list of NFL’s top 50 NFL cornerbacks through 4 weeks

Cowboys cover guy Trevon Diggs gets all the hype, but the Eagles have the top player in an ANYA/CS ranking of the NFL’s top cornerbacks through four weeks via @KDDrummondNFL

The NFC East is home to the NFL’s top-ranked cornerback, but based on some advanced metrics and analytics, that player doesn’t currently reside in the Dallas, Forth Worth metro area.

KD Drummond is a podcaster, writer, and managing editor of The Cowboys Wire, and he recently revealed a new formula that helps better evaluate NFL cornerback play.

Hoping to quantify cornerback performances better after Trevon Diggs was ridiculed for allowing chunks of yardage last season, Drummond developed a metric that rates the adjusted net yards allowed per coverage snap.

Adjust Net Yards per Attempt, or ANY/A, is an advanced metric formula that translates touchdowns and interceptions thrown into yardage equivalents and has a ridiculously good correlation to victory. What we did was translate the formula to coverage to better qualify how corners were playing on a per-coverage-snap basis.

The ANYA/CS metric = ((Passing Yards Allowed-Return Yardage) + (Passing TDs Allowed – Return TDs)*20 – (INTs)*45)) / (Coverage Snaps).

Statistics Used:

Pro Football Focus: Coverage Snaps
Pro Football Reference: Interceptions, Targets, Yards Allowed, Touchdowns Allowed, Return Yards, Return TDs

Using this formula, Philadelphia had three players land in the top 12, two in the top five, and James Bradberry as the No. 1 cornerback on the list through four weeks of action.

In the second round, the Birds add to an already talented running back room, adding a dual threat from Ole Miss.

Eagles vs. Vikings: NFL experts make Week 2 picks

The experts have spoken, and most analysts are picking the Minnesota Vikings over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 on Monday Night Football

The Eagles are coming off a season opener in which they picked up 27 first downs and logged 455 yards, but they’re the underdogs in some circles, thanks to a shoddy defensive effort.

Monday night football on ESPN offers a matchup of two undefeated teams and two explosive offenses for Week 2, with plenty of intriguing storylines.

The Minnesota defense was outstanding last week against the Packers.

Still, they’ll be facing a Philadelphia offense looking to push the downfield in the passing game while relying on a punishing rushing attack if things fall apart.

With kickoff quickly approaching, the experts have made their picks.

Takeaways and observations from Eagles trading Jalen Reagor to the Vikings

Takeaways and observations from the Philadelphia Eagles trading wide receiver Jalen Reagor to the Minnesota Vikings

The Eagles continue to make roster moves as just traded disappointing wide receiver Jalen Reagor to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a 2023 conditional fifth-round pick that can become a fourth along with a 2024 seventh-round pick.

It gives both parties a fresh start and Philadelphia the chance to move on from a draft night mistake that’ll haunt the franchise for years to come.

The Eagles could win multiple Super Bowls over the next few years and experts will still wonder what this team could have been with Justin Jefferson running routes.

With the addition of A.J. Brown and Zach Pascal to the roster, Reagor’s spot as a starter was no longer guaranteed, and the move gives Philadelphia more draft ammo over the next two years.

Here are takeaways and notes from the trade.
