Georgia vs Missouri Game Preview

Why Georgia Will Win

Oh great, now you made it mad.

All of a sudden, Georgia can’t play. It’s vulnerable, it’s not worthy of being in the mix for the national championship, there’s no reason to keep playing the season, and all because it allowed Kent State to score two touchdowns.

Georgia dominated the Golden Flashes in the 39-22 win. It gave up one big pass play in the second quarter, it settled for too many field goals, and overall, it didn’t represent the team’s best work.

Whatever.

Georgia was perfect in the win over Oregon, and it totally dominated South Carolina in the SEC opener. So it didn’t give it the fully focused effort against the MAC team – it’s going to be okay.

Missouri’s offensive line allows way too many things behind the line, that leads to way too many turnovers, and that’s all for an offense that didn’t work well enough in losses to Kansas State and Auburn.

However …

NFL Expert Picks, Week 4

Why Missouri Will Win

Yeah, ifs and buts, but if Nathaniel Peat could’ve hung on to the ball for just a little bit longer – and, maybe, if there was a definitive goal line shot of the play – Mizzou beats Auburn in overtime for a 3-1 start going into this monster moment.

The defense has been solid.

It couldn’t handle Adrian Martinez and the Kansas State offense in the ugly 40-12 loss, but it kept Auburn to 217 yards and did everything right but get the win.

Is it possible Kent State really did expose Georgia a bit? Was that letdown a sign that the defending national champ really is about to be in trouble?

Missouri has just enough decent offensive weapons to potentially make this interesting if the lines hold up, and …

What’s Going To Happen

Come on.

Georgia is fine, Missouri’s offense isn’t doing enough, and this should get ugly fast.

The Tigers aren’t sharp enough. They have way too many penalty problems, turnovers are an issue, and now they’re getting a team that should be refocused after last week’s issues.

Georgia vs Missouri Game Preview

Why Missouri Will Win

The Tigers have one of the best offenses Georgia has faced.

Yeah, the Bulldog defense has been all-timer special, but where’s the great O on the slate? Kentucky? Florida? Auburn? They’re all fine, but Georgia hasn’t had to deal with Tennessee, or Ole Miss, or Alabama, and the win over Clemson and its offense is hardly as strong as it originally appeared to be.

Missouri might not be consistent, but it has the star running back in Tyler Badie to deal with, and QB Connor Bazelak is accurate enough and good enough to give the Bulldog secondary a real test.

The Tigers are amazing on third downs, they’re automatic in the red zone, and …

College Football Expert Picks, CFN Week 10

Why Georgia Will Win

Missouri doesn’t do that whole defense thing.

Georgia’s defense can have its worst day of the year, and it won’t matter because the offensive side should be able to do whatever it wants.

The Tigers are dead last in the nation at stopping the run. EVERYONE is running for 200 yards on this bunch, including Vanderbilt, SE Missouri State, and Boston College. North Texas didn’t – it ran for 188 yards.

Georgia isn’t going to do anything funky here.

The D might not have the same intensity it showed against Florida, but it won’t matter. The O will run for 300 yards and control the game.

What’s Going To Happen

Don’t be shocked in Mizzou at least gets the attack going a little bit. There will be plenty of yards, but not enough points to overcome yet another awful day from the defense.

However, as bad as the Tiger D might be, it’ll come up with a few takeaways just to give everyone something to talk about. The Bulldog running game, though, will be relentless.

Georgia vs. Missouri: Potential Chargers 2021 NFL draft prospects to watch

Chargers Wire’s Gavino Borquez lays out the prospects that Los Angeles could have their eyes on.

The college football season is winding down, with bowl season now in hindsight. That also means that scout’s traveling to watch prospects at various programs across the nation is close to coming to an end.

Here are a few prospects to watch in the matchup between Georgia and Missouri on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 10:00 a.m. PT.

The Bulldogs boast a trio of cornerbacks that could serve as a long-term option, Eric Stokes, Tyson Campbell and DJ Daniel. Stokes has the prototypical build for the position with speed, physicality and plus coverage ability. Campbell is a physically gifted and reactive athlete with great length that possesses speed, excellent closing speed and instincts. Daniel is a sub-package ace who is quick and agile with very good mirroring skills.

With Melvin Ingram slated to be a free agent after this season, finding an edge defender to compliment Joey Bosa could be something that the Chargers look to do early on. Azeez Ojulari has seen his stock increase with his strong play this season. Ojulari is an explosive and athletic player with the pass rush ability, bend and range to be a solid starter at the next level.

Linebacker Monty Rice has gone under the radar. Rice uses quickness, football intelligence and coverage ability to make impactful plays in pass defense, and his read and react and speed to make plays against the run. With Denzel Perryman set to hit free agency and Drue Tranquill coming off a serious lower body injury, the Chargers could be looking to the middle rounds to address the position.

The Chargers could be looking to upgrade the interior part of the offensive line, as Forrest Lamp and Dan Feeney are both slated to hit free agency, which is why someone like guard Ben Cleveland could draw some interest. Cleveland is a solid interior lineman with great size, strength, hands and awareness to flash dominance in the run and pass game.

While Georgia draws the majority of the attention, Missouri has a couple of defensive backs that could be on the Bolts’ radar. Joshuah Bledsoe and Tyree Gillespie, who both accepted their invites to the Reese’s Senior Bowl, have different, yet appealing skillsets that could be nice additions to the defensive side of the ball.

Bledsoe has a combination of physicality, play speed and coverage skills to serve as a back-end safety/slot defender and special teams ace while Gillespie is a big guy who could be a productive single-high due to his range, ball skills and finishing ability.

Why Georgia Will Win

And there’s the running game.

South Carolina might be on fumes, but it was still an impressive performance by Georgia last week as it ripped through with its ground attack or a season-high 332 yards in the 45-16 win.

QB JT Daniels got the passing game going against Mississippi State the week before – there wasn’t any need to run it, but the eight yards against the Bulldogs were alarming – and then came last week’s dominance.

Missouri’s defense has been a rock for most of the year, but it also hasn’t faced a whole lot of teams that want to run the ball regularly – and efficiently.

The Tigers were hit from all sides in the 50-48 win over Arkansas last week – allowing 566 yards – and now comes the Georgia balance.

Week 15 College Schedule

Why Missouri Will Win

The Georgia secondary has been a problem.

The defense overall has been great – it’s the second-best in the SEC – and it doesn’t allow a whole slew of big plays, but teams are able to dink and dunk way too consistently.

Florida and Alabama each bombed away for over 400 yards, and Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi State all pushed past 200 yards.

Missouri QB Connor Bazelak keeps getting better and better, following up his 318-yard day against Vanderbilt with 380 against Arkansas. He’s not throwing a ton of touchdown passes – just five so far with four of those coming against LSU – but he’s also not throwing picks.

What’s Going To Happen

The Missouri defense will get back to form.

Georgia won’t run the ball like it did against South Carolina, Mizzou will control the clock and the tempo, and the offense will convert on every opportunity.

The Bulldogs will win – the defense will rise up when it has to – but the Tigers are 5-1 at home, and that one loss was a decent fight against Alabama to kick things off.

Georgia (4-2) vs Missouri (2-3) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on college football, go to BetMGM

Assuming this goes on and doesn’t get thrown on the pile of postponed SEC games …

Why Georgia Will Win

Missouri doesn’t force enough mistakes to help its cause.

The defense has a whole lot of issues, giving up 35 points or more in four of the five games, and with just four takeaways with just one interception. Considering turnovers have been a big issue for the Bulldogs, here’s their break.

Why can’t Mizzou force big plays? Part of the reason is the lack of pressure – it’s just not getting anyone in the backfield often enough. On the other side, the offensive is having too many issue with good defensive fronts, and Georgia – even with the issue against Alabama and Florida – has the best pass rush in the SEC and the best run defense by far. However …

CFN College Football Experts Picks

Why Missouri Will Win

Part of the reason Georgia’s run defense is so statistically good is because everyone throws on this secondary. It wasn’t miserable early on, but it allowed 200 yards or more in two of the three games. Alabama? 417 yards. Florida? Kyle Trask went off for 474 yards.

Connor Bazelak has grown into the Missouri quarterback job, throwing for 200 yards or more in each of the last four games with no picks in the last three.

With two weeks off, this is a rested and ready team, and …

CFN Experts Picks: NFL

What’s Going To Happen

Georgia is beaten up. That was a BRUTAL game against Florida, with a slew of big injuries, a whole lot of big hits, and worst of all, a loss that reasonably ended any SEC and College Football Playoff championship hopes.

Bulldog QB Stetson Bennett hurt his shoulder and is iffy at best, but there are plenty of options to throw into the mix to get everything moving. Star WR George Pickens is back, and the defense should be able to hold down the Mizzou running game.

The Tigers are 0-3 when they don’t run for 180 yards. They won’t run for 180 yards.
