This incredible performance by Christopher Morales Williams set a new world record…

The University of Georgia took the national spotlight on Saturday thanks to an outstanding performance by UGA track star Christopher Morales Williams, who’s 44.49 400-meter set a new world record at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship.

Williams, a sophomore, set the school, meet, facility, collegiate and world records all in one race. He cleared second place, Florida’s JeVaughn Powell, by more than a second (45.61).

The SEC Network’s broadcast crew was shocked to learn that William’s run eclipsed the previous world record:

Williams’ performance notched UGA’s fifth men’s title in the event. The Bulldogs will train through the first weekend of March before traveling to Boston, Mass., for the NCAA Indoor Championships (March 8-9). Georgia will begin its outdoor season at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta on March 15-16. The SEC Outdoor Championships will be held in Gainesville, Fla., on May 9-11.

WR Arian Smith playing through minor injuries

WR Arian Smith playing through minor injuries

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Arian Smith is one of the fastest college football players in the country. The Lakeland High School speedster came to Athens as a four-star recruit in the class of 2020.

Smith had a solid showing in 2020 when he played and expects to carry that momentum into 2021. He has played in both scrimmages this Fall and has looked good

He is, however, dealing with some minor injuries, says Kirby Smart.

โ€œArian, coming from track, he missed some of the summer workouts, and we had to shut him down and not do everything,โ€ Smart said. โ€œHeโ€™s bounced back; heโ€™s been battling a couple of injuries the last couple of weeks. Heโ€™s had some turf toe injuries, a toe-nail that got stepped on it was just bad, really bad. But heโ€™s missed a little time.โ€

Smith runs for Georgiaโ€™s track team in addition to playing wide receiver. Smith ran an impressive 100-meters time of 10.18 during track season. He helped Matthew Boling and Georgia set a school record of 38.54 in the 4ร—100-meter relay event.

Smith will be an important deep threat for the Bulldogs and quarterback J.T. Daniels. Georgia is missing starting wide receiver George Pickens, who tore his ACL, andย Demetris Robertsonย entered the NCAA transfer portal. There will be plenty of opportunity for Arian Smith.

Smith was banged up last offseason. He underwentย wrist surgery in Mayย and had meniscus surgery in July. Smith did not play until Georgiaโ€™s final four games. He made an impact against South Carolina and Cincinnati, but ended up taking a redshirt year. He will look to build off his solid ending to the season.

Kirby Smart and Todd Monken signed Smith,ย Justin Robinson, Marcus Rosemy, Jermaine Burton and Ladd McConkey as wide receivers in the class of 2020.

PFF expects Georgia Bulldogs WR to breakout

Pro Football Focus projects Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Arian Smith to breakout during the 2021 college football season. Smith is one of the fastest college athletes in the country.

The Lakeland High School speedster arrived in Athens as a four-star recruit, who was a member of the class of 2020, but Smith experienced a few injuries that setback his initial development.

Smith ran a 10.18 in the 100-meters event for Georgia’s track team this spring. Smith has burning speed and is well situated to have a big season following the emergence of Georgia quarterback JT Daniels.

Daniels flashed the ability to throw accurate deep balls in his four starts last season. He connected with Arian Smith a few times near the end of the year.

Smith will be a more critical target for the Bulldogs in 2021 because starting wide receiver George Pickens tore his ACL and Demetris Robertson is considering transferring. There should be plenty of opportunity for Arian Smith.

Smith was banged up last offseason. He underwent wrist surgery in May and had meniscus surgery in July. Smith did not play until Georgia’s final four games. He made an impact against South Carolina and Cincinnati and ended the season with 86 receiving yards on only two catches.

Here was Smith’s only career touchdown against South Carolina:

PFF additionally projects Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba, TCU’s Quentin Johnston, LSU’s Kayshon Boutte, Maryland’s Rakim Jarrett, and Clemson’s Joe Ngata to be the other breakout wide receivers for the 2021 college football season.

Matthew Boling, Arian Smith looking to qualify for NCAA championships

Georgia’s Matthew Boling and Arian Smith are trying to qualify for the NCAA championships in the 100-meter dash.

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver and track star Arian Smith is among the fastest players in all of college football. He isn’t as fast as Georgia’s Matthew Boling, but he’s not far behind.

Matthew Boling finished second in the SEC in the 100-meter dash with a time of 9.97 seconds. Boling’s time is close to being good enough to help him compete to qualify for the Tokyo Summer Olympics.

The U.S. Olympic qualifying standards requires runners to run a 100-meter dash time under 10.05 seconds in order to be one of the 32 athletes competing to represent the country. Boling’s time at the SEC championships may not be considered due to the wind conditions, but he is on track to be among the competitors for one of those coveted qualifying slots.

Boling, Smith, and other Georgia track standouts will compete in Jacksonville, Florida, this weekend to qualify for the 2021 NCAA Division I Menโ€™s and Womenโ€™s Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The championships are held in Eugene, Oregon, on June 9-12.

Shaun Maswanganyi (Houston), Terrance Laird (LSU), and JoVaughn Martin (FSU) are expected to be Matthew Boling’s top competition in the 100-meter dash. Here’s a look at Boling’s impressive run at the SEC championships:

UGA track athlete Matthew Boling has broken former Georgia Bulldog legend Champ Bailey’s long jump record

Matthew Boling, the talented Georgia track sophomore, is capping off a record setting 2021 season. Boling has broken former Georgia Bulldog legend Champ Bailey’s long jump record.

Boling continues to dominate indoor track and will look to break more records in the spring outdoor season after COVID-19 cut last year short. Boling will participate in more events today, but it is looking like Arkansas will repeat as Men’s SEC Indoor Track champions.

The Georgia Women’s Track & Field team has a chance to win the SEC Indoor Track championship though.

Despite setting a University of Georgia record, Boling finished fourth in the long jump event. LSU’s JuVaughn Harrison set a meet record with a 27-foot-4 long jump. The silver lining for Boling is that he outperformed everybody who is a sophomore or younger.
