Georgia’s biggest remaining recruiting need in the 2025 class

Georgia’s biggest remaining recruiting need is clear in the class of 2025 recruiting cycle

With early signing day less than a month away here are some of the top needs and remaining targets for Georgia football. Head coach Kirby Smart and company are still looking to add a few elite recruits to the class of 2025 recruiting cycle.

Donovan Starr

Donavan Starr is a four-star cornerback prospect that is committed to Auburn right now. Kirby Smart and UGA offered Starr last week and Starr has been interested in what the Bulldogs have for him.

A cornerback prospect is a huge need for the Bulldogs. Georgia only has one cornerback commitment after to Shamari Earls’ decommitment. Starr is 5-foot-11 and has great technical skills already with the ability to compete every rep. Starr would be a huge addition for this class to help shore up depth in the secondary for next year.

CJ Wiley

CJ Wiley is ranked as a four-star on On3.com. Wiley is an in-state blue-chip wide receiver prospect. A potential commitment from Wiley will complement the quick Georgia receiver commit Tayln Taylor, who is looked at by major recruiting sites as a difference-maker.

Wiley has always been on top of the Georgia’s list regardless of his former commitment to Florida State. Wiley is well on his way to another 1,000 yard season for Milton High School who is looking to repeat as 7A champions.

Wiley’s play style as a big body receiver is something that the Bulldogs receiver room has not seen much of since Lawrence Cager left. With a commitment from Wiley the future for the receiver position for the Bulldogs would be looking bright. Texas A&M is another team to watch in Wiley’s recruitment.

Justus Terry

Justus Terry is looked at as a five-star across all recruiting platforms. Terry has been on the Bulldogs radar since committing in 2023. Terry since then has decommitted from Georgia to USC to decommitting from USC.

He is one of two uncommitted five-stars left in this recruiting cycle, so he is a huge priority for Georgia. Terry could play alongside blue chip defensive line prospect Elijah Griffin if he commits back to the Bulldogs.

Terry’s commitment could bring back the flashes of the dominant defensive line in 2021 and 2022 season. Terry is disruptor from anywhere along the defensive line and has versatility that we have not seen since Jalen Carter. Terry creates havoc at high rate in opposing team’s backfield and has the capability to create a day one impact.

Georgia football projected to land 4-star WR recruit

The No. 10 wide receiver recruit in the nation is projected to commit to the Georgia Bulldogs!

The Georgia Bulldogs are projected to land a commitment from four-star wide receiver recruit Vance Spafford. Spafford is a member of the class of 2026. He plays high school football for Mission Viejo High School in Mission Viejo, California.

Spafford is ranked as the No. 65 recruit in the 2026 cycle, per 247Sports. The four-star is the No. 10 receiver in the nation and the No. 10 recruit in California.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver has already caught 44 passes for 826 yards and 15 touchdowns through nine games of his junior year. The Mission Viejo standout named Georgia, Oregon, Notre Dame, Washington, Nebraska, Arizona, TCU and Ole Miss to his recently released top schools.

On film, Spafford shows an elite combination of speed and route running ability. He projects as a big play threat at the next level.

The talented receiver would become Georgia’s first offensive commitment in the 2026 cycle. Kirby Smart and company have just two commitments in the class of 2026 thus far.

4-star WR recruit decommits from Florida State

Georgia football is looking to land Florida State’s most recent decommit, who is the No. 1 uncommitted receiver in the country

Four-star wide receiver recruit CJ Wiley has decommitted from the Florida State Seminoles. Wiley has continued looking at other schools despite his commitment to Florida State. The four-star checked out this week’s Texas A&M versus LSU Tigers game in College Station, Texas. Wiley also visited Georgia football for the Auburn game.

The four-star can’t be impressed with Florida State’s horrific 1-7 start to the season. Wiley had been committed to FSU since June 2024. His decision to decommit from the Seminoles is not a shocking one.

The 6-foot, 4-inch, 195-pound receiver is the No. 13 player at his position and the No. 11 prospect in Georgia, according to 247Sports. Wiley is ranked as the No. 84 recruit in the class of 2025.

CJ Wiley’s father, Chuck, played college football at LSU. Wiley is an elite  in-state recruit that plays high school football for Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Kirby Smart and Georgia are continuing to pursue Wiley, who is the nation’s top uncommitted wide receiver recruit.

The Milton High School star also runs track and has excellent speed. Wiley and Milton won the 7A state championship during the 2023 season. Class 7A is the highest classification in Georgia, which is among the most competitive high school football in the country.

Top contender emerges for former 5-star UGA QB commit

Big Ten school emerges as the No. 1 contender to land UGA decommit, five-star quarterback recruit

The Georgia Bulldogs recently lost a commitment from five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, who is a member of the class of 2026.

Now, a top contender has emerged. The Oregon Ducks are expected to be the top team in the race to land Curtis.

Curtis is the No. 4 recruit in the junior class. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound quarterback plays for Nashville Christian Academy in Nashville, Tennessee.

The five-star is ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the country, per 247Sports. Curtis is the top ranked recruit in Tennessee.

Georgia football has two commitments in the class of 2026. The Bulldogs have a long way to go in the 2026 cycle and are primarily focused on the class of 2025, but Georgia’s attention will turn to the 2026 cycle after the early signing period.

In the 2025 cycle, Georgia did earn a massive recruiting win when the Bulldogs added a commitment from five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin.

Four-star safety projected to flip from Georgia Tech to UGA

Georgia football and Kirby Smart are predicted to flip one of Georgia Tech’s best commitments

The Georgia Bulldogs are projected to flip four-star safety recruit Rasean Dinkins.

Dinkins, who has been committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets since June 2024, plays high school football for Warner Robins High School in Warner Robins, Georgia. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound safety is a member of the class of 2025.

Dinkins is ranked as the No. 219 recruit in the 2025 cycle, per 247Sports. The Warner Robins standout is the No. 20 safety in the nation and the No. 32 prospect in Georgia.

Georgia football and head coach Kirby Smart currently have the third-best recruiting class in the country. Georgia recently picked up a commitment from five-star defensive end Elijah Griffin.

Georgia Tech and head coach Brent Key are actually doing an outstanding job on the recruiting trail. The Yellow Jackets have the No. 17 recruiting class in the country, but there’s no doubt that losing Rasean Dinkings to their top rival would hurt for Georgia Tech. Dinkins is Georgia Tech’s fourth-best commitment.

Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons of On3 both predict that Dinkins will flip his commitment to Georgia.

Five-star DL Elijah Griffin commits to UGA

Georgia football adds a commitment from the top defensive line recruit in the country in Elijah Griffin.

Five-star defensive end recruit Elijah Griffin has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs. Griffin’s commitment is a massive addition for Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart.

Griffin, who is a member of the class of 2025, is the No. 4 player in the country. Griffin is the top ranked recruit in Georgia and the No. 1 defensive end.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive lineman has immense potential and is ready to wreck games at the college level. Griffin committed to Georgia over the USC Trojans and Miami Hurricanes.

The five-star defender is Georgia’s No. 23 commitment in the class of 2025. Griffin’s commitment raises Georgia to the third-best recruiting class in the country. The Dawgs previously had the nation’s No. 5 recruiting class.

Griffin plays high school football for Savannah Christian Prep in Savannah, Georgia. Griffin has elite high school production with 35.5 career sacks. The disruptive pass rusher is Georgia’s top ranked commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle, per 247Sports. Griffin was also nation’s the top remaining uncommitted recruit.

Griffin’s commitment to Georgia comes shortly after the Bulldogs lost a commitment from five-star quarterback Jared Curtis.

Georgia recruit calls the Georgia Bulldogs his ‘dream team’

The Georgia Bulldogs are at the top of the list for a very talented high-school recruit running back

For the Georgia Bulldogs, this afternoon matchup versus Mississippi State already has a high-profile recruit watching, and there could be another one on the way.

High school running back Jae Lamar, who received an offer from Georgia last weekend, recently called Georgia his “dream team”, according to Jeff Sentell of DawgNation:

“It means a lot,” he said. “Georgia is my dream team. I have always wanted to play at Georgia (with) the great backs that come from there. You know Todd Gurley. There’s a lot of great backs out there and I think that it fits me there. Georgia has always been at the top of my list. I think they are number one right now.”

The class of 2026 recruit out of Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia, hasn’t been ranked or graded by recruiting websites such as 247Sports yet, but he surely will be soon.  This highlight a big reason why Georgia offered him a scholarship:

The 5 foot, 11 inch running back has 575 rushing yards on 58 attempts, good for a jaw-dropping 9.9 yards per attempt. In just his sixth varsity game, he put up 182 rushing yards on 14 carries and 77 yards receiving, including that insane highlight. This is on a Colquitt County team that is ranked the 13th-best high school team in Georgia.

It’ll be interesting to see where he’ll commit. Lamar’s potential presence at Georgia would make him part of a very loaded young backfield with Nate Frazier and Dwight Phillips. Georgia fans should be excited if he decides to commit to the Dawgs.

5-star DL Elijah Griffin sets commitment date

Five-star defensive line recruit Elijah Griffin sets commitment date right after visiting the Georgia Bulldogs

Five-star defensive line recruit Elijah Griffin will announce his commitment on Friday, Oct. 18 at 1:20 p.m. ET from Savannah Christian Prep, which is his high school.

Griffin announced his commitment date shortly after visiting the Georgia Bulldogs for the Mississippi State game. The 6-foot-5, 285 pound defensive lineman will decide among Georgia, USC and Miami on Friday. Griffin is projected to commit to UGA, per 247Sports.

The Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart have nation’s fifth-best recruiting class in the 2025 cycle, but Georgia has room to improve. Landing Griffin would go a long way in the Dawgs’ quest to secure the nation’s top recruiting class.

Griffin has elite production with 35.5 career sacks at the high school level. The Savannah, Georgia, product is ranked as the top defensive lineman in the nation and No. 4 recruit in the country. Griffin is the top recruit in the Peach State and is a massive in-state priority for Kirby Smart and UGA.

Georgia is always looking to win the battle in the trenches and Griffin be a difference-maker for Georgia in the future.

Three-star Georgia defensive line commitment Stephon Shivers recently reopened his recruitment, so Griffin could help fill a void in UGA’s 2025 recruiting class. Georgia football’s most recent commitment is from four-star running back Ousmane Kromah.

Georgia looking to flip 4-star FSU commit

Georgia football is looking to flip one of Florida State’s best commitments in the 2025 cycle

Four-star wide receiver recruit CJ Wiley has continued to show interest in the Georgia Bulldogs despite being committed to the Florida State Seminoles. Wiley recently visited the University of Georgia for the Auburn game.

The four-star can’t be impressed with Florida State’s disastrous 1-5 start to the season. Wiley has been committed to FSU since June 2024. His decision to commit to the Seminoles was a surprising one as many outlets projected him to commit to Georgia.

Kirby Smart and Georgia never give up until early signing day, so it is no surprise that the Bulldogs are still pursuing Wiley. Georgia has a strong pitch to prospect. The Bulldogs offer a significant amount of playing time to true freshman and are annual College Football Playoff contenders.

CJ Wiley’s father, Chuck, played college football at LSU. Wiley is an elite  in-state recruit that plays high school football for Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Wiley is ranked as the No. 110 recruit in the class of 2025. The 6-foot, 4-inch, 195-pound receiver is the No. 15 player at his position and the No. 13 prospect in Georgia, according to 247Sports.

The Milton High School star also runs track and has excellent speed. Wiley and Milton won the 7A state championship during the 2023 season. Class 7A is the highest classification in Georgia, which is among the most competitive high school football in the country.

Elite DL recruit, UGA commit reopens his recruitment

Georgia football’s biggest commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle has reopened his recruitment. What is next for UGA?

Three-star defensive line recruit Stephon Shivers has reopened his recruitment. from the Georgia Bulldogs. Shivers, who is a member of the class of 2025, has been committed to Georgia since March 2024.

The three-star defender plays high school football for Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee. The 6-foot-5, 365-pound defensive lineman is Georgia’s biggest commitment (by size) in the class of 2025.

Stephon Shivers is ranked as the No. 518 recruit in the country, the No. 57 defensive lineman and the No. 18 prospect in Tennessee. Shivers projects to play nose tackle at the next level and is more disruptive in rushing situations.

Head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia have a commitment from just one other defensive lineman in the 2025 cycle in JJ Hanne. Georgia is still favored to land a commitment from five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry. However, the Bulldogs have some work to do along the defensive line regardless of what happens with Shivers.

Georgia football has 21 commitments in the class of 2025 and the No. 5 recruiting class in the nation.
