Georgia’s senior class cements legacy with the win over Tech

Georgia football’s senior class went undefeated against several rivals and won a pair of national titles

The Georgia Bulldogs’ senior class closes out their careers with an undefeated record in Sanford Stadium. The UGA senior class also has never lost to the Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, or Tennessee Volunteers.

The senior class also accomplished of having four straight 10+ wins tying the program record. Their most recent accomplishment is 44-42 eight overtime win against Georgia Tech.

Who in the senior class left the biggest imprint on the game?

Carson Beck

In the second half and overtime Carson Beck went 18 of 26 191 yards, and five touchdowns. Beck was seen visibly frustrated in the first half, but he willed the offense to win.

Beck has grown into top tier NFL prospect after throwing 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions in the last three games. Beck has a 23-3 career record and is a winner.

Dan Jackson

Dan Jackson former walk-on turned NFL draft prospect has been the unsung hero for this defense. He is the third in tackles with 50 and first in interceptions with two.

Against Georgia Tech, Dan Jackson kept making plays. His biggest play of the game was forcing a fumble on Haynes King before the two minute warning with UGA down 27-20.  After that turnover, the Bulldogs went on and scored to tie and eventually win the game.

Dominic Lovett is the only transfer in this article. He transferred into UGA from Missouri after the 2022 season. Lovett battled adversity with a dropped pass and a fumble that were momentum killing plays. Lovett bounced back with two touchdowns aid the Georgia comeback.

Tate Ratledge

Tate Ratledge has came into the Georgia program coming from die-hard Tennessee family. He could’ve been drafted high, but decided to return for a senior season.

Ratledge is a warrior that has overcome dealing with injuries including an ACL injury in 2021. The senior had tightrope surgery earlier this season. He has a been big contributor for the offensive line since 2022.

Ratledge is a vocal leader and lifts up Carson Beck.  At the end of the game Ratledge took in what could be his last moments in Sanford Stadium. That emotion speaks on how much the University of Georgia means to him.

Georgia is No. 1 and undefeated. Bulldog fans should thank the current seniors on the Georgia roster. Several seniors elected to return to school instead of declaring for the 2021 NFL draft.

Now, Georgia’s seniors are 10-0 in their final season and are looking to wrap up another perfect year at home. Most of UGA’s senior class have only lost at Sanford Stadium once (2019 game against South Carolina).

Many of Georgia’s seniors are eligible to return for another season next year. The 2020 college football season did not count against players’ eligibility, so there may be a few players on this list who decide to return to Athens following the 2021 season.

However, the current group of seniors should be honored for senior day as if this game will be their last one between the hedges.
