6 Colts whose stock rose in 22-16 win over Cardinals

These Colts rose their stock in the 22-16 win over the Cardinals.

With the Indianapolis Colts (9-6) going into State Farm Stadium and coming out with a 22-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals (10-5), we saw several players increase their stock with the team.

Some of it was due to simply showing out during a game that was destined to be sloppy from the start. Others had to step into a bigger role because of recent COVID-19 issues. Regardless, we saw several players increase their stock on Saturday night.

Here are six Colts whose stock rose from the Week 16 win:

Colts overcome Cardinals, 22-16: Instant analysis

Instant analysis of the Colts’ 22-16 win over the Cardinals.

The Indianapolis Colts (9-6) were dealt a rough hand all week leading up to this Christmas match-up with the Arizona Cardinals (10-5).

Many of the Colts’ best players, unfortunately, ended up on the reserve/COVID list, some even just hours before kick-off. Many of these names, including Pro-Bowlers Darius Leonard and Quenton Nelson, alongside most of the starting offensive line and other key starters on both sides of the ball would be out for this game and perhaps even the next in a very close playoff race.

It was looking grim for Carson Wentz, Jonathan Taylor, and company to be able to pull off a win in such a difficult spot and missing so many players, but as the team loves to say it’s simply “Next Man Up” and those men had big shoes to fill. For the most part, the guys did just that, and fought hard all game in a sloppy, back and forth brawl that saw Indianapolis narrowly come out on top and keep hopes of a playoff berth, and perhaps a division title alive.

Here’s our instant analysis from this Christmas night victory:

5 studs from Colts’ 22-16 win over Cardinals

Here are five studs from the Colts’ 22-16 win over the Cardinals.

The Indianapolis Colts (8-6) got through a gutsy 22-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals (10-5) on Saturday night at State Farm Stadium.

Though it may not have been the most aesthetic win, especially with several starters out due to COVID-19, the Colts found a way to get it done while coming up with big plays when they needed it most.

Here’s a look at five studs from the Week 16 win over the Cardinals:

6 Colts who raised their stock in the upset win over Bills

These six Colts saw their stock rise in the 41-15 win over the Bills.

In what was a wild, dominating win, the Indianapolis Colts (6-5) went on the road to Highmark Stadium on Sunday and upset the Buffalo Bills (6-4) by a score of 41-15 in Week 11.

It was a statement game for the Colts, who had yet to beat an opponent with a winning record this season. Not only did they win, but they also dominated in nearly every facet of the game. From Jonathan Taylor’s historic game to the defense clamping down on a strong Bills passing attack, it was an extraordinary effort from Indy.

Here are six Colts who raised their stock in the Week 11 win.

The Indianapolis Colts dominated the Buffalo Bills in Week 11 action, making a mockery of what should have been a possible playoff preview.

Indianapolis (6-5) put the ball in the hands of their star running back, Jonathan Taylor, who could not be stopped all afternoon. The Colts ground game, in combination with a plethora of Bills’ mistakes, led to a 41-15 thrashing over Buffalo (6-4).

Here are four standouts from the game:

Colts’ George Odum (concussion) ruled OUT vs. Lions

Colts S George Odum has been ruled out with a concussion.

Indianapolis Colts safety George Odum suffered a concussion during the preseason finale against the Detroit Lions and won’t return to the game.

Odum has seen some snaps on the defensive side of the ball, but the exception is he will continue to do his work on special teams. In 2020, Odum earned an All-Pro nod.

With Odum out, the Colts are likely to get more reps for rookie Shawn Davis and veteran Sean Davis along with the versatile Andre Chachere.

Colts’ 2021 training camp preview: Safety

Previewing the safety position ahead of Colts training camp.

The Indianapolis Colts will officially begin training camp next week as they prepare for the arrival of the 2021 regular season.

As the defense looks to make a leap into one of the premier units across the league, the safety room will be led by a duo of young playmakers who could be manning their positions for years to come.

There have been some slight additions to the room during the offseason, including a signing of a veteran and the selection of a rookie in the draft.

Here’s our preview for the safety position entering training camp:

8 Colts who can earn their first Pro Bowl selection in 2021

These Colts could earn their first Pro Bowl nod in 2021.

The Indianapolis Colts boast a roster that is strong with depth on both sides of the ball and while a bit of their projected outcome is unknown due to the quarterback position, there are some players set to take a big leap forward.

Though the Pro Bowl has become watered down as the years have passed by, there is still something to be said about getting a nod to the NFL’s All-Star game. Some may argue it’s more of a popularity contest, which is valid, but players still seek that validation of recognition.

In 2020, the Colts sent left guard Quenton Nelson, center Ryan Kelly and linebacker Darius Leonard to the Pro Bowl. Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner was a massive snub but wound up being named an All-Pro, which carries more weight.

For 2021, the Colts have a number of players who have never been to the Pro Bowl. So in discounting those who have already been there in their careers, here are eight Colts who could earn their first Pro Bowl selection in 2021:

6 underrated Colts entering 2021 season

The most underrated players on the Colts roster.

Being a midwest team in a relatively small market, the Indianapolis Colts will always have players flying under the radar when it comes to national media attention.

Some players like Kenny Moore and Grover Stewart are finally getting their due with the media, but there are still some players on the roster who may not be getting as much love as they deserve.

Whether they are truly flying under the radar or simply need some more love, here are five Colts who are underrated entering the 2021 season:

Colts’ Zach Pascal, George Odum signed RFA tenders

Indianapolis Colts WR Zach Pascal and S George Odum signed their RFA tenders on Monday.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Zach Pascal and All-Pro special teamer and safety George Odum signed their restricted free agent (RFA) tenders, the team announced Monday.

This was to be expected as the deadline for RFAs to sign their tenders is Friday, April 23. Pascal received a second-round tender while Odum was tendered at the right of first refusal, something he wasn’t too happy about at the time.

The second-round tender meant that other teams could try to sign Pascal to a contract but if they did, the Colts would get a second-round pick as compensation for the departed player.

In Odum’s case, the Colts could match any offer he gets but if he leaves, they don’t get any compensation. That notion didn’t sit too well with Odum, who took to Twitter to let us know how he felt.

Regardless, both players are now under contract and the only other restricted free agent to keep an eye on before the deadline is tight end Mo Alie-Cox, who also received a second-round tender from the Colts.
