Ranking the top 10 SEC running backs for the 2021 college football season.

SEC talent is always at the top of college football, and this year is no different, especially when it comes to running backs.

In 2020, the league’s rushers were led by Alabama Heisman finalist Najee Harris, who was drafted in the first round by the Pittsburgh Steelers in this year’s NFL draft.

But who will lead the rushing attacks for SEC programs in 2021?

We rank the top 10 SEC running backs for 2021 by production and overall ability:

Report: Florida football hit with multiple NCAA violations and head coach Dan Mullen ‘did not promote an atmosphere of compliance’

Florida football sanctioned for recruiting violations and head coach Dan Mullen cited as noncompliant. Details here

According to an NCAA infractions report that was released on Tuesday, Florida football has been sanctioned for recruiting violations on two occasions and head coach Dan Mullen ‘failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance’ with the NCAA.

The incidents occurred between January and March of 2019.

“The university, the head football coach, an assistant coach and NCAA enforcement staff agreed that the assistant coach and head coach had impermissible in-person contact with a prospect when they met with a prospect’s high school coach while the prospect was in the room. At that meeting, the Florida coaches expressed an interest in recruiting the prospect. Leading up to that visit, the head coach sent the prospect texts about his upcoming visit to the high school and his interest in recruiting the prospect. NCAA rules were violated because off-campus recruiting contacts are not allowed until after a football prospect’s junior year of high school. The violations were Level II.”

Level II violations are a ‘severe breach of conduct’, according to the NCAA violation structure.

According to the report, an unnamed assistant coach also had impermissible contact with approximately 127 prospects when seven teams toured the program’s facilities on their way to a tournament in Tampa.

Those violations are cited Level III, which is labeled by the NCAA as a ‘breach of conduct’ that results in minimal recruiting or competitive advantage.

The penalties for both occurrences include:

  • One year of probation.
  • A $5,000 fine.
  • Reduced fall 2019 evaluations from 42 to 21.
  • Reduced football evaluation days by 12 for the 2018-19 academic year.
  • Restrictions on all recruiting telephone calls with football prospects from April 15 through May 31, 2019.
  • A reduction in the number of football official visits during the 2019-20 academic year by one and in the number of unofficial visits during the 2019-20 academic year by 14.
  • A one-year show-cause order for the head football coach. During that period, the head coach is prohibited from all off-campus recruiting activity during the fall 2020 evaluation period and a four-day off-campus recruiting ban during the fall 2021 contact period.
  • The university banned the head coach from recruiting for the first 10 days of the January 2020 contact period.
  • A 30-day off-campus recruiting ban for the head coach during the fall 2019 evaluation period.
  • The university ended the recruitment of the prospect.
  • The university will not recruit any prospects from the high school in Seattle from the 2019-20 through 2020-21 academic years.
  •  A seven-day off-campus recruiting ban for the entire football coaching staff during the spring 2021 off-campus recruiting period.
  • A 30-day off-campus recruiting ban for the assistant coach in October 2019 and a three-day off-campus recruiting ban for the January 2020 contact period.
  • One-on-one rules education for both the head coach and assistant coach regarding NCAA contact and evaluation rules.

Florida fans furious with former Georgia DC Todd Grantham

Florida football fans are furious with defensive coordinator Todd Grantham

Florida fans have been quite vocal the past two weeks regarding the status of Gators defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.

The team suffered back-to-back defeats at home to an unranked LSU and in Atlanta to No. 1 Alabama.

Despite the atrocious upset loss to the Tigers last weekend, Florida actually gave the Crimson Tide a significant fight on Saturday. However, that didn’t stop Gator fans from coming after Grantham on Twitter.

Take a look:

Najee Harris broke numerous records during SEC Championship

Alabama running back Najee Harris set a record for the SEC Championship and broke numerous Alabama program records during an amazing MVP performance against Florida.

The Crimson Tide defeated the Florida Gators 52-46, where Harris seems to always have the ball in his hands, whether it’s a pass or a handoff.

In total, he’s tallied 31 carries for 178 yards and two touchdowns, along with five receptions for 67 yards and three touchdowns.

Five touchdowns is a record for the SEC Championship.

Harris also managed to surpass Derrick Henry for the career rushing yard record at Alabama. Henry’s previous record was 3,591 yards.

He passed the Crimson Tide’s two Heisman winners in Mark Ingram and Derrick Henry with the most career rushing touchdowns in school history with 43.

One more record was broken by Harris last night. He has taken over as the sole leader of Alabama career touchdowns with 51, passing Shaun Alexander.

No. 1 Alabama is overpowering No. 7 Florida heading into the second half of the second half of the 2020 SEC Championship with a score of 35-17.

While, Mac Jones and DeVonta Smith entered the game with all eyes on them, seeing as they are the two Heisman frontrunners, running back Najee Harris is stealing the show.

He has 16 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown, but also added four receptions for 53 yards and three touchdowns.

Yes, you read that right: four (4) touchdowns.

Every single one has its own flare, so why not go back and revisit them before he does any more damage in the second half?

No. 1 Alabama leads No. 7 Florida in the 2020 SEC Championship 21-10 after an 8-yard touchdown reception by Najee Harris.

Harris scores his second touchdown on the contest on the short pass.

While it was a short pass that could have been blown up at the line of scrimmage by a Gators defender, Harris sticks his arm out and pulls a spin move that left him with nothing but wide open field between him and the endzone.

Mac Jones and the Crimson Tide offense are easily striding through the field on offense, and getting necesarry stops on defense.

With most of the first half remaining, there’s plenty of time for Alabama to enter the second half with an even larger lead.

WATCH: John Metchie III lands monster hit to force fumble after INT

Alabama quarterback Mac Jones threw INT no. 4 on the season, but it did not last long. Sophomore WR John Metchie III hit the Gators def…

Mac Jones threw interception No. 4 on the season. Well, kind of.

On a pass to tight end Miller Forristall in the redzone, Jones’ pass was ripped out of Forristall’s hands by a Florida defender, who quickly tucked the ball and began to run toward the Alabama endzone.

Well, he did not get too far, as Crimson Tide sophomore wide receiver John Metchie III came from the side to lay a monstrous hit on the defender to force the ball loose, and have DeVonta Smith land on it for a recovery.

Overall, the play was very confusing. However, the hit landed by Metchie was very, very hard.

WATCH: Alabama strikes first in SEC Championship with opening drive TD

Alabama received the opening kickoff and made easy work of a 70-yard touchdown drive that lasted under three minutes.

No. 1 Alabama was the first to reach the endzone in the 2020 SEC Championship game against No. 7 Florida.

The Crimson Tide got the opening kickoff, and a 70-yard touchdown drive ensued.

A battle of the offensive juggernauts has begun.

The drive consisted of a handful of catches from DeVonta Smith that totaled 24 yards, and four carries from Najee Harris had him run for 30 yards with eight of those coming from his touchdown run to put Alabama on the board first.

Just under three minutes to score for Alabama, there’s plenty of time left for Mac Jones and the Crimson Tide to continue to score, or for Kyle Trask and the Gators to make their presence known.
