Ranking the 20 most interesting NBA players who could get traded and where each may go

A look at the players who could be dealt by Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.

The NBA trade deadline is one week from Thursday, and while it might seem quieter than normal, there could still be a lot of activity.

Even if there isn’t a looming blockbuster move like when the Nets and Sixers swapped James Harden and Ben Simmons last season, there are teams around the league that could have an entirely different roster before the beginning of the All-Star break.

While there are some obvious sellers (e.g. Pistons, Hornets, Spurs, Rockets), others (e.g. Raptors, Pacers, Jazz) have slightly less clear intentions.

Based on the latest rumors and intel provided by insiders around the NBA, these are the players considered most likely to get traded — and where each player is rumored to go.

But remember: The trade deadline is always full of surprises. No one in the league predicted the Kings would have traded Tyrese Haliburton last season! So in addition to these players, expect the unexpected.

How to bet the Raptors down two starters against the 76ers

Don’t fade the Raptors just yet.

Toronto Raptors rookie Scottie Barnes has been ruled out for Game 2 of their series against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday. Gary Trent Jr. and Thaddeus Young are also doubtful to play.

Potentially down two starters and a third rotation player following a 20-point loss in Game 1, the Raptors are 7.5-point underdogs on Tipico Sportsbook.

One of the harder things to do in the playoffs is resist the urge to overreact to a single result. Add a few injuries to the equation, and predicting the outcome of the next game in a series becomes all the more challenging. Coaches make adjustments and player performance fluctuates.

However, unless one team is completely outmatched or a star player is out, it’s foolish to expect a blowout every game. Many people, including myself, thought before Game 1 the Raptors would match up well with the Sixers. I still believe that to be the case, even with a few important players out.

I’m taking the points.

Someone forgot to plug Gary Trent Jr. back in for this press conference and it was hilarious

Somebody needed to charge Gary.

Everyone has those moments where they just sort of zone out. Like, you’re physically in one space but mentally you’re definitely in another.

Someone is probably talking to you. You have no idea what they’re saying because, obviously, you are not there. And who knows what you’re thinking about? It could be one of life’s greatest mysteries. It could also be about that slice of pizza you had last weekend. It just sort of happens.

That’s what seems to have happened to Gary Trent Jr. during a post-game press conference after the Raptors beat the Heat on Tuesday.

My man was completely frozen out there. Absolutely stuck. Someone forgot to plug this man in.

“Gary’s just not moving,” is so wild. Jen also is very chill about it. She’s like “oh, no, Gary just isn’t moving,” like this is just what Gary does. It’s hilarious.

The wild part is, after we all identify that Gary is just not moving, he still does not move. At all. It takes a few seconds before he finally chimes in.

This is unequivocally one of the funniest moments of the NBA season. He pulled a Draymond Green.

This is the best, man. NBA fans were cracking up.

The Blazers’ Gary Trent Jr. trade created some wild and eerie coincidences with his father

Like father, like son.

Gary Trent Jr. was traded from the Trail Blazers to the Raptors on NBA Trade Deadline day for Norman Powell.

Normally, that wouldn’t mean very much. It’d be considered your normal, run-of-the-mill NBA trade deadline trade. But this one created one of the weirdest fun facts that you’ll ever see.

Gary Trent Jr. played for the Trail Blazers just like his dad, Gary Trent, did. He will also play for the Raptors just like his dad did, too.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Oh, wow. He’s really following in his father’s footsteps. That’s pretty wild, but it’s not that weird. We’ve definitely seen weirder.

And you would be right…if that’s where the fun fact ended. Apparently, just like his father, Trent was traded to the Raptors in this third season. And, to make it even more specific, he was traded after 41 games…just like his dad.

It’s sort of eerie!

You can check their basketball reference pages. It’s true. They were both traded 41 games into their third season from the same team to the same team.

Talk about like father like son. Sheesh.

Blazers’ Gary Trent Jr. delivered one of the most ridiculous flops in NBA history

What a flop!

You see that photo above? Yes, that one, of Portland Trail Blazers guard Gary Trent Jr. flying through the air.

That is an amazing capture of the moment Trent delivered an all-timer of a flop that had NBA fans laughing.

Trent was on his way to the hoop on a fast break when he got bumped by Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. But it wasn’t enough of a shove that would send him flying that high and far, and Gilgeous-Alexander had to laugh at the effort to embellish the foul.

Here’s the clip to go along with that amazing photo:

Hey, it got a whistle! That counts for something!

Gary Trent Jr. trash talked Paul George and NBA fans loved every bit of it

This was amazing.

If the Portland Trail Blazers end up making it into the postseason, it’ll partly be due to the exploits of one Gary Trent Jr.

He’s been shooting the lights out for the Blazers throughout their time in the NBA bubble, hitting 62% of his threes so far as Portland fights for their playoff lives.

He’s had some pretty incredible games, but none more impressive than his game on Saturday against the Clippers. The Blazers ended up losing, 122-117, but he put up 22 points off the bench and hit six threes.

The best part, though? It was easily the trash talk that he was giving to Paul George in the fourth quarter.

Trent and George got tied up fighting for a loose ball late in the second half. He basically told him he was talking too much.

Trent kept talking, though. And during money time in the fourth quarter, no less.

The internet absolutely loved it.

It’s all good on George’s end, though. The Clippers got the last laugh with a win.

I’ll tell you what, though. Six more games of this at any point would be awesome. We won’t get that, but we can still dream.
